Pvp was never meant to be everywhere. Pvp is mostly for structured events and lawless ocean and islands. That's always been the plan. Caravans, caravels, wars and sieges. Then a corruption system that isn't as harsh as it is now. This is a core pillar of the game and is doubtful to change.

this does promote having more than 1 van strategically placed throughout the world so it isn't the worst idea. With current mat costs, it is highly unrealistic but the idea of having to summon a van from a distance within reason isn't completely far of field. Once mats are more reasonable, don't see much an issue having several basic vans across the nodes as options

I would like to know the design reasoning behind the 2 ZOI vs longer summoning time based on distance though. The later just seems more straightforward

Not only are caravans already much more expensive to craft than they need to be, but now I need to make sure to have multiple of them stashed around the world.

Plus theres already other issues that make caravan pvp annoying and unfun. Attackers have zero risk when just trying to go break a caravan. Or even the fact that crowbars are instant cast, so a defender can just yoink the loot you fought for to spite you. Crowbar needs to be a 10s channel and you are flagged purple during the channel.

This change just adds to making interacting with caravan for pvp beyond just smashing a van less fun.

Yes. It’s worthless. If caravans are working like in p1 and p2. You would attack a caravan. Then summon your own to steal the loot to turn in for yourself.

What happens in real life is the defenders just res Zerg from embers. Once you break the van they crowbar their own loot instantly to deny you picking up the loot. Before you can even move your summoned van in place to pick it up

@heliosblack right now the balance between attacking and defending a caravan is just way off. Theres no incentive to defend others caravan besides it being a guildy or friend. Paying enough defenders will leave you with no profit, and defenders can just unlimitedly attack your caravan with unlimited respawns. Theres nothing stopping you running into a caravan and going "oh lets attack it for shits and giggles" cause you got nothing to lose, 0 risk.
