the game doesnt have a unique tax cycle per player yet.

Quick correction on that, if I may:
The later you join as a citizen, the higher your taxes.
That way people that join a node early only pay like a few tax receipts total (on Lotharia I paid 6 per week for Joeva)
People that join the node later though, get to pay more the more citizens joined before them.
If someone leaves the node, people "move up" a spot on that list, so if you pay 87 now and 99% of citizens leave, you will pay 5, because you are one of the "oldest" citizens then.

The idea behind it is likely that you should get rewarded for joining a node early and helping to build it, but given that you can build nodes you're not even a citizen off, I think of it as a (mostly) pointless system for now.

I like to separate the concepts of tedious and difficulty and I find aoc alpha testing to be more akin to tedious then difficult, and tedious is just annoyance for the sake of annoyance in my eyes

Changing % drop chances isn't a hard thing to do, and might create disparities in how fast people gear, but that won't be a bad thing when we have a lot more nodes and it'll incentivize more people to play because they won't be stuck grinding the same mob for 14 hours in an alpha
