Removing gear drops from mobs, making mob level in the world tied to node level does the trick to soft-lock individual progression. It does not drive users with most engagement off the game. Last phase players spent literal months on level 10 gear, making legendaries, enchanting etc, before level 20 gear unlocked. This is what happens. Dedicated gamers min-max current gear tier while casuals catch up by getting more cost-effective gear at that stage. Both players always have something to work towards

This game is doomed if it means 200h+ of mob grind to max level before players engage with other systems. Personally I believe removing gear drops, capping mob levels to node levels, rebuffing the elite mobs and making initial crafting a bit simpler will do the trick. My idea is not to stop ppl from rushing to max level, its to make the most efficient way to max level to be through engaging with other things like crafting and the economy, caravans etc
