Artisan level 10–20: Apprentice certification, 5 professions per character
Artisan level 20–30: Journeyman certification, 4 professions per character
Artisan level 30–40: Master certification, 3 professions per character
Artisan level 40–50: Grandmaster certification, 2 professions per character
But they all count towards apprentice
And so forth down
So even your grandmaster counts as 1 of your apprentice skills
only 3 so far
Go talk to the guy who upgrades to apprentice
As for a promotion
Only thing I can think of
I did that dropped down and then upgraded
just did
You're already an apprentice lol
It's just a visual bug
Craft and it will move
Make 1 of something
can not see exp on stone
I guess report it then but I remember that happening to me and after running a craft it moved
Ya it did the same to me
thanks for help
No problem I was curious
Do we know how durability is calculated when using tools?
You mean the damage to the tool or how much durability it gets when making it
Damage to the tool
only thing i know on this is smaller nodes will make your tool lose more durability, like 5 or 6 dura per small node while a large node will do only 1 dura
from all i can tell, 1 on any successful gathering action. 2 if adolescent tree unique to the axe. And also some to all on death based on the normal death durability mechanics.
Fishing appears to use 1 per cast, regardless of if anything is caught.
If there is a limit to how many you can have at each upgraded level, Apprentice, JM, etc. Is there a way to roll back or respec your jobs levels? Or is there one planned?
You can lower your cert
Haven't gotten that far yet, but I've been grinding fishing and cooking and wanted to make sure before I potentially made a mistake I couldn't recover from.
And thanks for the responses. I wasn't sure if it was random or tied to resource sage(?) or Tool quality
Hello everyone.
I conducted several tests on the item grading system and was quite puzzled by the data I received. I want to share a brief summary with you and hope that someone can confirm or refute my understanding of the "quality" mechanics.
The quality system is based on a linear dependency, where grades range from 0 to 600, spanning from common to legendary. Each hundred marks a change in color: 100 is white, 200 is green, 300 is blue, and so on.
I managed to create a model for some items that predicts the outcome with fairly good accuracy, so I want to use it as an example.
Suppose creating an item requires 4 ingredients in different proportions, for instance, 1+1+10+1 = 13. In this case, each ingredient would account for approximately ~8% (100%/13) of the total. Depending on the color, a grade coefficient is applied to the item.
So, if I take 3 legendary ingredients and 10 common ones, the final quality would be calculated as follows:
3 * 8% * 6 + 10 * 8% * 1 = 144% + 80% = 224%.
This would result in a green item with an internal quality offset of +24% from the possible range of values(amplitude).
Let me clarify upfront: this model currently does not account for certain variables present in the game, as I haven’t figured them out yet. For instance, when creating the same item with a total quality of exactly 400% by rearranging some ingredients, I sometimes get a heroic item with a minimal range offset, and other times a rare item with a maximum offset. I suspect the issue lies either in the type of data used for the formula on the game-backend or in floating-point arithmetic, which introduces a bit of chaos into the predictions. However, there might also be other explanations.
What is the value amplitude I mentioned earlier?
Let’s say an item has a "power rating" parameter ranging from 100 to 120. A 25% quality within that range would correspond to a parameter value of 105. Similarly, 50% would correspond to 110.
This amplitude can be increased in two ways: by using even more valuable ingredients or by equipping items that provide a "Craftname Quality Rating." Through experimentation, I discovered that ~20 Quality Rating is equivalent to 1% of amplitude, and this upset me greatly. Let me explain why.
Let’s take, for example, the "Apprentice Leatherworker's Shirt" and the "Journeyman Leatherworker's Shirt."
Their Leatherworking Quality Ratings are:
Apprentice: 56–66 for the white grade, 211–275 for the legendary grade.
Journeyman: 92–107 for the white grade, 282–359 for the legendary grade.
The difficulty and effort required to craft these two items are currently disproportionate, but the final difference in terms of amplitude appears to be very insignificant—only about ~4%.
Of course, when we’re talking about min-maxing, an 8% difference provided by two items is substantial, but is it really that significant in practical terms?
Let’s take a closer look.
Imagine we magically assemble a fully legendary Journeyman set (ignoring the rarity of leather) consisting of three items—jacket, pants, and belt—at the minimum amplitude. In total, we get:
282 + 307 + 267 = 856 rating, which equals approximately 42.8%. Now, we’re fancy and can afford to craft upgraded versions of these items.
Let’s start with the pants, which have a range of 307–392. With our 42.8%, the new value becomes 343, adding about ~1.8%. A bit of simplified mathematical approximation leads us to conclude that if we spend an extraordinary amount of resources on repeatedly crafting legendary items in leatherworking, tailoring, and armor smithing, we can eventually create a set whose total bonus approaches 50%, though it’s unlikely to actually reach that value.
**UPD 2025/01/16 **- added some new info in the end of the story(2nd post below).
**But what do these 50% mean in relation to legendary weapons? **
Let’s consider something like the Rosethorn Tunic.
Armor: 63–68
Magic Resist: 63–68
Intelligence: 13–16
Magical Critical Chance Rating: 25–31
**Mana Regeneration Rating: ** 20–25
Magical Penetration Rating: 20–31
**Wisdom: ** 3–6
Since we’re slightly below 50%, rounding will likely go downward, resulting in the following stats for our Rosethorn Tunic:
Armor: 65 (+2)
Magic Resist: 65 (+2)
Intelligence: 14 (+1)
Magical Critical Chance Rating: 27 (+2)
Mana Regeneration Rating: 22 (+2)
Magical Penetration Rating: 25 (+5)
Wisdom: 4 (+1)
The result is roughly equivalent to a single +1 enchantment. However, enchanting costs millions of times less than preparing a full legendary-quality crafter set.
Naturally, we wear several items, and each one provides a bit of a benefit for character min-maxing. But even in this case, an approximate increase of +8 Intelligence compared to ~250+ is merely 3%, and the scale of this benefit seems catastrophically disproportionate to the required effort.
I really hope that I’m missing something and that you’ll tell me about it, but for now, I’m in a state of complete confusion.

UPDATED 2025/01/16
The initial assumption was incorrect. The game uses a non-linear formula.
So instead of 100%, 200%, 300%... 600% we have thresholds:
1 - сommon
6 - uncommon
16 - rare
31 - heroic
51 - epic
71 - legendary
100 - legendary with best stats.
That means our Crafting Quality Rating would give us different impact on different tiers. If we will use Legendary Journeyman set, for example on uncommon reagents, we will get rare result. But if we will use it while crafting legendaty item, we will get only 30% of possible stat bonuses.
We have some basic calculator: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QbSOHPcWPri-UE-NU_tEiZ1YI3-D-A_b1My-0_WTwYw/edit?gid=843461881#gid=843461881 feel free to use.
#craft #calculator #artisian
The only consolation is that we’re currently in 1/3 of the game’s progression, and the target items are, of course, level 50 gear. Perhaps a level 50 legendary set will provide +100% to quality, and in that case, it will be an entirely different conversation.
you can raise any 5 to app, then four of those 5 to journey, 3 of those 4 to master, and 2 of those three to grand master. the rest will all be locked to novice.
You can lower a cert, but currently i think you loose the tool if applicable, and of course any exp gained past the cert you now have
Yea quality rating was nerfed to near useless. Definitely needs a pass. It was way broken before so understandable to over nerf until actually addressed.
I didn't start any math about processing, is it have the same state or it's more positive?
Honestly not sure. I think there was a Reddit post and may be more worthwhile
proscessing is a random chance. quality is a breakpoint system of some sort ect.
well, I always found that gathering rarity stats are joke, because, as intended it or not, quality spawns of resourses are static and if you find legendary resourse somewhere it would be respawning here all the time.
Hope processing have a real random...
it does appear to be yes. for both quality and quantity
76~ rating in both will fairly reliably get at least one proc of each per 100 items. thing the most i hit was 6 or so from a 250 stack?
i can tell you that if everything in artisan scales the same as the exp rating does, then a score of 30 = 10%. but ive not paid attention enough to bulk processing to truely corroborate that more than ive already said for rarity and quantity other than the stats do partially work
though...now that i think about it. in combat stats a score of 10 = 1 or 1%. which might scale better with my proscessing observations
Well, will try to test tannery difference between 76 and approx 150 rating
please do. but be careful not to dump too many in there at once and lock yourself out due to not enough inventory space
always done with 250 frogs xD
so If I use 10 epic tin ingot 10 epic will and herioc slate mold I get roughly 470,047/500 for epic does it round off to lowest meaning I get herioc axe ?
yee. grem too, that was the first one i saw.
crafting tools are a bit different because the only quality rating you can get is from the materials themselves. but yes, that should be on the high end of heroic
might hit epic if you craft it during the rare quality node buff
Well, I found that it should work like that but sometimes game make surprises and you will still get an epic item here. My assumption - game rounding a bit.
10e + 10e + 1h = 495.23 without rounding but it could be counted as 500 and become epic
Oh I see thanks, well will check what I get when journey man out for us then, really dont wanna dip into leg willow at this point
I have 1 craft (bone rings) that confuses me so much - 6 common bones 1l slate and 1e thread gives me blue ring instead of green one 🫣
When we craft artisan tools we get exp for require artisan? if so does that mean artisan quality rating works on tools?
could be node buff?
got same question today, if you will find answer - please, tag me
my mining quality get to around 80 - 100 so hard for me to test, but my hunting quality over 300, I should get some western larch and test on bow later
Has there been any comment from Intrepid regarding player stalls? Improvements like filters, sort by price, search functions that work better
Question. Do we know what effect crafting quality is e.g. 68 crafting rarity is that added to the total of the 0-600 range? Or is it calculated separately
Nvm I'm an idiot you explained it above
What's confusing about it? Isn't disproportionate effort for marginal (but existing!) gains entirely in line with what you might expect from end-game MMO time investment? Honestly +2 mana regen +5 pen +2 crit +1 wisdom on a piece of gear sounds like a pretty big gain. Not for now when people are still scrambling to gear up, but when you've got your end game set? I absolutely would invest in legendary gear to achieve that
More practically, could a community person pin your explanation of quality? It's one of the clearest I've seen and helps educate people on what quality rating really means 👍 <@&542059693779058748> #alpha-two-artisan-chat message
Static legendary willow spawns camped by alts is become a problem please fix this asap.
isn't there only one of these?
I’m still curious if there’s a statement I missed or something - I’ve been away for a couple months and am genuinely interested
Re: storage transfer between alts
Awesome write up dude. I highly recommend you post it on the a2 forums so it doesn’t get lost and people can reply easier - and if you have already, send me the link lmao
Feels like I am too young to use forums
Thanks for an advice, I will post and send you link.
I have noticed that we get way higher rates of higher quality wood when farming with a guildie using a crude axe than my heroic apprentice axe i can farm a full inventory of oak or ash and get like x5-10 rare and a few stacks of uncommon but with a crude axe we get all the way up to legendary quality with a much smaller inventory and lower stats
the first time i filled my inventory i thought it was just bad RnG but i have leveled my milling to master and farmed thousands of both ash and oak and this has been the same the whole way
since i upgraded my axe to heroic apprentice i have not got anything over a few heroic quality wood and i got way more than that when using an uncommon axe.
at least where lumberjacking is concerned the tool stats seem to work backwards at least up to the heroic tool level from what i have seen.
Here is an example of a standard haul for me.
this is the axe i use
the winstead buffs seem to have no change to the quality of these tests at least nothing measurable
That's because the rarity is based on static spawns, for legendaries at least(not sure for others) atm. So, it would appear your guild mate just got a little lucky
every one of them using crude axes are getting me all the quality wood i have harvested none since i upgraded my axe
after farming thousands wood from only adult trees the volume should reflect the stat increase this is not the case
So here is an example of hunting with 0 equipment from 1-10 hunting. I will compare this with upgraded gear over the next few days and update you https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1320727727480901693/1326699280647458866/image.png?ex=67825abd&is=6781093d&hm=8174ff50548b46b01d9fccb1c779cbf9ab6b3c03f00d4a85d9bcdd3142bcfdda&
You get poop when you hunt? I've gotten to 8 and have gotten 0 droppings
yeah that looks more like my farming before i upgraded my lumberjacking tools.
You have to be within 10 lvls of a mob
Ahhhh killing the mobs okay nvm I was thinking from the passive collectable mobs. Okay, I thought I was doing it badly wrong for a moment.
You clean the mobs to make the respawnables. I dig it.
I am curious if there are rules for lumberjacking that effect quality that are just not published yet. or if it is an actual bug.
i am going to craft some basket bags today and do some more testing with that added quality stat
I got an alt from lvl 1-10 farming grems took a while but this was the outcome
I like that approach. That probably gives a good boost for your tanning too
my next plan is to get a few alts leveled up with lumberjacking with crude tools and get more data
Good luck
I have a ton of data to do with crafting scrolls and it conflicts with your findings somewhat.
1x Heroic / 5x Common
(1 * 0.166 * 4) + (5 * 0.166 * 1) + = 1.66 (166%)
Expected = Common, Actual = Uncommon
3x Common / 3x Uncommon
(3 * 0.166 * 1) + (3 * 0.166 * 2) = 1.49 (149%)
Expected = Common, Actual = Common
1x Legendary / 4x Common / 1x Rare
(1 * 0.166 * 6) + (4 * 0.166 * 1) + (1 * 0.166 * 3) = 2.16 (216%)
Expected = Uncommon, Actual = Rare
Will check more later tonight
We're you wearing any gear or have any node buffs?
Defnitely wasn't wearing gear, and pretty certain no buffs were active
I can recheck these later, I purposely kept sets of mats for this purpose
Yeah, my model have 100% troubles when items have less 4 reagents to craft it, with 3 reagents it predict well sometimes, and I am working at finding an answers why Actual result is better than Expected
Glad to see someone else trying to figure this out
btw, when you are crafting scrolls - you have to use some vendor items, do you?
yeah fine paper off the vendor
do I need to factor that into the input number, so 0.143 instead of 0.166?
i dunno, tbh
But I have same strange things with items with vendor mats - for example bone ring
6 common bones + 1 leg + 1 epic + 1 item from shop gives me blue item while it should be green one
Question regarding Ashen Haunt gear: Do recipes exist for the Ashen Haunt Head, Gloves, or Pants?
@quiet charm Let's model a bit...
Ring https://ashescodex.com/db/item/Gear_Accessory_Ring_Bone
8 parts except vendor one, 1/8 = 0,125
(6 * 0,125 * 1) + (1 * 0,125 * 5) + (1 * 0,125 * 6) = 2,125 (213%)
If vendor items counts as legendary, we have 9 parts and 1/9 = 0,111
(6 * 0,111 * 1) + (1 * 0,111* 5) + (1 * 0,111 * 6) + (1 * 0,111 * 6) = 2,555 (256%)
If vendor items counts as legendary, but doesn't count as a part, 1/8 = 0,125
(6 * 0,125 * 1) + (1 * 0,125 * 5) + (1 * 0,125 * 6) + (1 * 0,125 * 6) = 2,875 (286%)
It "works" only if it counts as "minus one" and still legendary, 1/7 = 0,143
(6 * 0,143 * 1) + (1 * 0,143* 5) + (1 * 0,143 * 6) + (1 * 0,143 * 6) = 3,28 (328%) and.. it's Rare as it ingame
Oh my....
let's check a scrolls 1x Heroic / 5x Common, with "minus one" it's 1/5 = 0,2
(1 * 0.2 * 4) + (5 * 0.2 * 1) + (1 * 0.2 * 6) = 3 (300%) 🫣 dunno why it's only Uncommon
1x Legendary / 4x Common / 1x Rare, with "minus one" still 1/5 = 0,2
(1 * 0.2 * 6) + (4 * 0.2 * 1) + (1 * 0.2 * 3) + (1 * 0.2 * 6) = 3.8 (380%) and it's Rare
A robust guild bank system (permissions, tracking history of deposits and withdrawals, etc.) and the ability to mail players would be nice for sharing resources please for crafting please. We all cannot be in game at the same time all the time.
Ye having to trade things 2-3 times to different people so ot reaches the relevant person is a pain
can you not have apprentice mining and lumberjack at same time?
you can
i cant interact with the wood foreman on lynneth
Logout back in?
With 54 minign rarity and 202 mining rarity, 10 epic tin ingot 10 epic willow and herioc slate mold both outcomes were epic.. I am about to test my hunting bow but gonna grind some timber/basalt/copper of all rarity now first so will take time
kinda hard to make oatmeal when it requires oatmeal to make
How longs the growth period for a willow on a freehold? And does it go to adolescent and then adult? Is there any point in waiting past adult to harvest?
make sure you dont already have 5 apprentice skills
Ya I've asked about this and never got an answer which is too bad because I want to make it
The upgraded one more specifically
Can we get contracts where we create contracts for materials to be picked up by other players? That system in Eve was really nice. And does't break the PvP system.
As a crafter Id like to run processing for other players and create a contract where they pick it up when complete.
That would be cool. Bid and sell work orders.
This. So much this. Then I can make parts for things and put it out into the ether for people to buy.
I should say a specific player, IE....X Player gives me 20 willow to make into Boards...I create a contract specifically for that player to pick up when they have time.
Big up to my Pathfinders. We support each other with mats and things.
OATMEAL ENJOYERS REJOICE
lol I came here just for the oatmeal rejoice
Wonder if leather working quality fix is a buff. Has to be with how bad it is
I'm just happy I can do maps again on my main and not a lvl 5 alt.
Came here to say this 🤣
Slightly upset it requires milk because now I can only make common but it's a start
Do you think they also fixed carcusses not dropping anything above Heroic?
Rarity fixes for Hunter when
I would rather they just implement the real hunter system rather than the placeholder system 🤣
Hunting is completely broken still as far as rarity goes. The other gathering skills (except for maybe fishing) are miles and miles ahead of where Hunting is. Since there is no static rarity like there is on the other gathering skills, these two are left with only pure luck and your pittance of +rarity obtainable after the crafting gear nerf.
Anyone else feel the pylons for gathering are useless? Seems you pay gold and use time to set them up but the range is so small.
I don't think they work, my stats don't change when I use them.
Ahh okay, makes sense
I recently got a 7 piece drop from an adult tree, so the quantity stat on tools definitely works
I've gotten plenty of 6 procs, but I didn't know I could get 7
how much is one legendary basalt
Check your local market
cant find any
didnt know if anyone has sold any
are you selling the legendary and are you on vyra
the poop? no thats going to the guild freehold
What's it worth to you?
anyone have a picture of a weeping willow? no idea how it looks
like 2g per
Are there certain crafts that are not worth doing in the current state of the game?
I have 4 for you but I won't be online until about 4 hours from now
i only need 3 and hmu when ur online
did they just fuckin nerf scribe XP?????
my guys what the freak. Oh no, I wasn't blowing my brains out leveing scribe, better fix that
why did i get disconnected and then lose 5 levels of lumberjacking??
Ok so I have crafted a new apprentice lumberjacking axe. If I craft another does it automatically replace my current one or does it give me an option. Is it possible to have multiple axes?
1 log : 1 woodchip ratio is highway robbery
only one at a time, they get replaced i believe
@tepid drum Are you able to confirm if steel ingots will be possible once nodes start achieving journeyman profession stations? It seems no one knows how to get coal/coke so are assuming it isn't possible
Ok so I need to make sure that if I craft a tool it is equal or better then what I currently have becuase I could regret it if I don’t.
probably
Lotharia has Journeyman Mining and still no Coal so assuming it isn't in the game yet
apprentice metalworking does charcoal
Does that turn into coke though, not charcoal
my bad. brainfart :]
any idea where to find the surge recipes?
does anyone know if your level of craft effects your quality rating? Our guilds crafted a epic tailoring shirt at 202, and then wearing that shirt only raised it to 205. He is level 10 in tailoring so im wondering if thats teh reson why it was such a low increase, @marsh vigil ??
what quality rating were they before and after
202 was epic, 205 still epic, 210 is legendary
and the 2nd craft was everything legendary except for the hide which was rare
Epic willow static spawn literally just got chopped before it even loaded into the game
actually insane
yeah as soon as people figured them out it was a clear problem
it’s presumably pretty easy to just introduce spawn variance though
just let it vary by 25% on either side and reroll rarity on spawn
I wish i was kidding when i say an epic static was farmed before it loaded into my game, model existed for 1 second, Dude was chopping air
Why is setting your storage tab to a specific material strictly worse than leaving it as default?
Standard storage is a 16x8 grid
Mining storage is a 6x8 grid and allows stacks of 44
This means that standard storage could store 640 ore total if you filled every stack to 20 and allows for 32 different quality/types in your stacks. Mining storage only allows for 528 total ore and 12 different stacks.
We've got scroll buffs...we've got food buffs... now we're getting elixir buffs...and thats just at journeyman..
I swear to god, by the time we are level 50, fighting end game bosses, its going to be like classic WoW's week long endeavors for world buffs. Theres so many to get, and they are all unique and powerful
im low key excited to see how this develops. I don't think players realize the advantage this brings
these are giga numbers
where are the recipes for these?
been looking for these and the surge potions
Surge potions are apprentice, but the elixirs are journeyman. To my knowledge, you can only get them through drops unless your server has a journeyman lab, but I doubt that exists yet
I think bosses or high level(27+) mobs drop journeyman consumables
Actually a problem, people are timing and logging in and out on level 10 alts.
yep
what is pissing me off at the moment is, the t2 beef steak sammich is being sold for under 1s, when it takes 1s50c to buy a single hay, not counting all the other combines.
I too noticed this a few weeks ago lol
if they made bank bags for these to get more out of them, that'd be cool. apprentice, journeyman, etc
k...i haven't seen any in a drop yet...my treasure maps are bugged and I can't havest them so I am having to search the marketplace for now
The processing shirts.. You only need to wear it when initiating the job? Or claim? or throughout the whole job?
when starting a job is when all the buffs apply
I believe this is a typo as The Bloodied drops the Bloodied Bone Ring as the name suggests should craft the same dropped item piece with Physical Penetration and Str and not Magic Power, Mana Regen.
Can anyone confirm if this seems right for adventure exp scrolls? 2% for uncommon 3% for heroic?
according to my guilds scribe, the scaling is a bit more than that. Rare is still 2% on the tooltip, but in reality gives something like 2.5% exp. so yes this seems right.
Also do remember, rarity scaling is Terrible with novice gear
yeah. thats rough. doesnt really seem worth the 10 heroic rubies lol
5 sorry, i was planning to make 2 lol
so i maaaaay have gotten myself into a situation
any ideas?
im not a citizen of that town so buying a bunch of warehouse bags isnt really an option
the warehouse button doesnt work anyway so...sorry. that slot is now locked till you can somehow get enough inventory space. you might be able to manage it with journey mining bags

Get someone you trust to help you out.
Maybe transfer them to an alt for storage.
Oh wait. You can't even claim it.
RIP.
yeeeeee i mean rip gold but more like i want my processing slot back
i have 3 journeyman bags X_x
first time ive done tanning didnt think about all the crap it produces when i went for 250
Oh! I got it out after multiple relogs to deal with inventory stuff
So question for my craftsman, if we can only have so many apprentice. Etc professions and it doesn't change(which i pray it does because i don't want to lv 4 different characters for my professions) what's the best way to determine what I should focus on??
I don't want it to change, to me crafting should be meaningful if everyone can just do everything you lose that.
Honestly I think it's to loose already
5 is to many
That's true but leveling will take forever and I don't want to be forced to play characters i don't want to. I mainly just want to do crafting. Similar to FFXIV where 1 characters can do all professions
But it depends on what you want to focus on for the other part of your question
But I do see your point
So don't play other characters make friends instead this is an MMO
Lol that's thing I usually do all the crafting in my group and they give me the material.
I went lumberjack/milling/carpenter for my main focus
We'll make them gather for you then
Just experiment this all gets wiped in May
Oh I 100% do, but I'd like to be able to make the weapons and armor for all classes. But seeing as I'll probably either main rogue or ranger I may have to at least lv those 2 classes. But professions is my love, and I just would like to have one character that makes a name for myself as "the craft guy" like if you need something made then I can make it.
That's true ATM my focus has been AH, tanning, skinning, farming/weaving
You can just in one profession unless you're crazy and want to make multiple characters. In the end when it's fully released becoming a grandmaster in just one craft is going to be extremely hard.
We don't even have skill trees or quest yet for professions
That's also extremely true. I think at launch I'll probably just skip all gathering professions except hunting and just do the armor profs on either the rogue or ranger and whichever I don't main ill do the wepons
I forgot that was going to be a thing! I wonder how that will work
did uncommon tressure maps have 2 chests?
have they fixed the maps?
I believe they've fixed some of it, but I've heard some people still have problems with it.
I was previously bugged with maps and ran 2 today. So at least seem partially fixed.
has anybody learned the doomsday necklace recipe?
i had learned it previously but it doesnt appear in my recipe list, i farmed a second one and it says the recipe is already known
i have this issue with bronze hoop. but i know people have been able to make the doomsday at least
that's so depressing
spent almost 3 hrs farming a second recipe too
so my character is just bricked for that recipe >.>
i dont know
(Lyneth) WTT Legendary resources for 1 Epic Animal Fat, 1 Epic Bluebell Thread, 11 Epic Willow
Someone is trying to make an epic pickaxe.
How do you start cooking? I have recipes for steaks deer and bear (?) but I don't know how to butcher them...
I was told there was only one confirmed heroic animal fat drop during all of alpha 1. If there is any higher quality animal fat on the servers it most certainly will be under lock and key in some guild vault.
So fat drops? I was thinking you have to butcher the animal after you kill it.
you get fat from processing carcasses
how do you process carcasses?
the tanning station lets you turn them into hides, i’m not sure if that’s also where you turn them into meats or if turning them into meat is at the cooking station
the butcher bear recipe was bugged for a little while btw, it taught you to butcher wolves even though it was called butcher bear
might be fixed
That is the confusion. Do I do something with the dead animal? I have never seen an option to butcher it.
yes, you use the bear/deer carcass to make bear/deer meat somehow
It’s a cooking recipe, so go to a cooking station or open your artisan panel and look at cooking and see what’s there
would love an option to turn animals into carcasses. Only ever ran into one rare carcass while having multiple rare animals so far.
that wouldn’t make any sense. how would you possibly turn an animal into an animal carcass?
killing it? 🤣
i'm happy they are seperate
they do need to fix the rarity thing but the entire hunting profession is currently placeholder so i'm not overly concerned
is joke
i figured as much ya
Does anyone know good spots to Farm Howling emblems? im trying to craft the Howling wofl set and i cant find any emblems
Are we committed to the petting animals to death part of hunting/taming?
hope not, rather kill animals and skin them
They'd have to figure a way to allow AH to get the mount bases tho
they actually exist. my first after thousands of fish
Has anyone done any testing on node buffs, specifically Bandit Pacification (the 100% bonus to all artisan skills). Does stacking them up actually give a bonus has anyone checked?
Has anyone here made holy bone earrings yet? The recipe on the codex is different than anything else I've seen and I haven't had a chance to farm the recipe yet
I tested a little, stacking doesn't seem to give you more
thats what i believe, but i keep getting shouted down in my node haha.
As far as i can see and rating on character sheet matches, 150 rating is 100% buff. And you only get it once from that one buff, though say the processing one does stack on top
great now let me know how the hunt for epic butter goes
🤣
oh, about that F_CK US ALL
baby cow -> cow proc green, cow to milk proc blue, milk to butter proc heroic is as good as that's going to get, then heroic butter as part of roast proc epic, and add lettuce for salad legendary. so if all the stars align, there is a chance to get a legendary t2 food
i mean if they let us grow hay, and add yet another f_cking step to this, and then still sell their own t2's for copper at the vendor
then again, grow what? all the freeholds are taken as trophies rather than actually being put to use
another good haul though
but "backpack is full" so can't loot it
Why doesn't the apprentice tailor vendor sell the shirt/pants? Seems like the other crafting vendors sell the common stuff
now it'd be cool then if they sold a carpentry bag, or lumber milling bag
or let the lumberjack bag also include planks / boards / timbers
I got Epic Animal Fat to make a Epic Slate Mould for my Pickaxe.
Each profession vendor sells their own artisan gear
you get that to proc on a rare / heroic in a large stack?
I've gotten a rare to heroic proc, just once so far
I'll check again when I go back to the node but I only seen normal armor on it. Not the apprentice shirt/pants artisan gear though. This is only the tailoring one, the others all seem to have them.
im stocking up my heroics til i get to 50 before i try to see if i get any upgrades
Would anyone happen to have numbers for xp per level in professions? Trying to do some planning and can't seem to find, for instance, the total xp needed to go from any given level of a profession to the next.
Hey every1, quick question if someone could help me out, trying to train a Bear but it says insufficient resources, cannot figure out what am i missing, anyone have any tip?
Try to relog, sometimes wallet balance isnt updated and make sure you put enough fuel in.
<@&542059693779058748> So before I go off the rails on something I very possibly could be wrong about. I don't have back end node controls to see what is what. Can a node not have journeyman upgrade for 2 benches on the same building if that is all the node needs. So tanning and leatherworking. Or does it Have to be 2 separate buildings like 1 leatherworking building type and 1 stoneworking building type. Thanks in advance
supposedly they can upgrade say, the stoneworks in miraleth to multiple journeyman stations.
However, journeyman upgrades require 2ndary buildings to support them beforehand. things like the trade building, farm and factory ect
how are you supposed to be able to take this out even?
sending to warehouse straight away doesnt even work
journyman mining bags.
@lunar temple that is what i originally thought but i wanted to know for a fact- so hopefully a MOD will be able to step up and give a 100% on this
warehouse is bugged, cant send things to warehouse. currently, you CANNOT do extreme bulk in tanning (or butchering maybe) because of this issue. you will be locked out of that tanning slot till you get enough inventory space.
getting 3 journeyman mining bags wont help?
it certainly can in this instance. but ive seen even more items drop from the frog things so its a bit of a stretch there...
especially if quality and rarity procs
yeah this won't happen again thats for sure
it seems to be generally safe to do 100 stacks
yeah, they should just make it possible also to do hides and such as stack of 100 in bag
hopefully they can do that for some related things.
forgot I had to have mining at journeyman to actually grab the bag as well..
does anyone know what is the difference between "pure", "pristine" and normal:
Lumberjacks with legendary axes - how is the axe working for you?
Can you see the difference?
Asking because I crafted mine on level 25 lumberjacking; and ever since then, I have seen a grand total of 21 heroic wood. No epic, no legendary. I am now level 35.
I am aware that RNG can be bad... but this just feels wrong.
(Just to clarify, I do feel like there is more uncommon, perhaps even rare)
I have heard similar things from my lumberjacking friends, that it feels like rarity is bugged and has a negative effect on the rarity of the woods they gather.
The tools rarity doesnt matter when it come to mining and lumberjacking, the trees and ores have a fixed rarity, so if you find a legendary copper, that place will ALWAYS have a legendary copper whenever it spawns etc
Really stupid system and I hope they change this
The problem is if you find a Legendary tree come back 4 hours later it will still be legendary
The rarity works the chance is really really low though you need to have not just the axe but the bags and once journeyman comes online the belt. However there will still also be static legendary trees.
I have an epic axe and I get heroic, epic, and legendary
Nobody knows the number for rarity rating its probably so high though that you can not reach it right now
The rarity stat is best to get more rare/uncommon nodes rather than more heroic+ unless you can get a ton, which won't happen till higher crafting
Yep
But the quantity stat is doing work, which I appreciate
I got a 7 piece proc on an adult willow, which was nice
nice
It procs fairly consistently in general for +1s
From what I understand, the node has it's own base rarity, but your rarity stat has a chance to increase it.
I really thought that static-seeded rarity for trees was fixed... cos I was reporting that wayyy back in P1
With mining I feel I get the increase quite often.
thanks guys!
If I had to guess they want people fighting over those static spawns
This is correct, but that chance goes down at higher rarities, you're more likely to go from common to uncommon than epic to legendary
I just got an epic and a legendary tree on respawn, felt great
I been reporting since phase 1 that mining/some trees mainly WW Larch Hemlock/ and some plants Bluebell Moonbell in certain areas always have the same rarity no matter what tool, as people start learning this you can see them camping spots of known Leg spawns. so for these certain spots rarity doesnt matter. from my testing Mining nodes seem to have static spawn rarity global, trees and plants only in certain areas. Never wanted to public post since we gonna get campers like now and kinda ruining the point of getting anything below epic for T3 at this point, pretty sure a lot have realized it too.
Also doesnt mean that node will be there forever as spawn cycles change daily or so but once you find the epic/leg in that cycle it will remain till next cycle
Where is the vendor that buys BOB?
If u craft a Caravan chassis do you get more space to carry stuff or just stats?
Both if you craft the right ones
Some increase space: Hemlock gives +4, Willow/Braidwood more, any 'rare' gives +1 to base stats
So More than common WeepingWillow gear for the caravan ... Could u get 2 Epic commodities?
The chassis gains an extra slot at rare and again and epic I believe. The braidwood caravan parts start off with one extra and have the same quality breakpoints but cost a bit over 5g a piece.
Cool!
Lotharia EU - for sale
I have not been able to start cooking. Is there a place that explains how to do it? I also have not found a way to start tanning. Is there a quest I am missing for these?
Are you still in Lionhold/Samia’s Hope? If so you’ll have to go out and find stations for these. There are some nearby the newbie zones or you can head to any city on your map.
once upon a time i remember something along the lines of a 30 minute timer for T1 nodes to respawn in a note somewhere, but i'm seeing 1 hour on the dot for a stone / metal node
Do you get animal fat from cooking (making meat) or just fro tanning hides?
You can also get common from some vendors like stonemason
Where do we get such things as lemon and pepper etc? Did not see it at the cooking vendor. Thanks in advance,.
vendors have two tabs, one for items and one for materials. did you check the materials tab?
has anyone that has used higher rarity hunting gear had success with higher rarity dropping?
What's a good place to level hunting 1-10?
I checked but unlike fishing there is not an option for hunting.
can any1 who has been farming for copper after the update give me a rough estimate on how easy it is to randomly farm copper from nodes like basalt? 3%? 1%? .01%?
Someone said I need to find "hunting" mobs. Is that the ones with the white star? +
~2% is my best guess
With how cheap basic copper is now on the marketplaces it’s unlikely farming granite/basalt is worth your time
@marsh vigil is coal in the game? just curious if we can make journeyman weapons at this point in the alpha?
approx Rarity ~1000, 2,5h of non-stop farming...
I Would be glad to have some heroic here...
so food just does nothing huh?
Food works. However, if you log out with food, it stops working. Then, if that buff falls off, you actually get negative stats.
Same with Scroll buffs
If you have negative stats, a 15s relog will fix it
i don't think it does work, cause before and after eating a magical power food my stat didn't change in the character menu and my healing is the same
relogging with the buff didn't lower it at all either
Did you have an existing food buff when you ate the new one?
If you had a food buff, relogged, then ate a new one, you won't see a change until the buff itself goes away
If you've done all this, then it might be a bug with that particular food not giving bonuses. Totally possible!
But the Hunter's Ragout and Beef Sandwich 100% give me additional Crit and Attack power/HP respectively
Does coal exist ingame?
no
so crafting goes up to rividium right now ?
Anybody find the recipe for Arcane Surge Potions yet?
does it not exist or do you have to be a JM miner and stonemason ?
wiki states you can extract it from rocks
just spit balling tbh incase someone hasnt checked
we have journeyman mining and it's not been found if it's in the game.
So I'm just assuming it hasn't been added.
gotta do the rain dance on stevens stream to summon coal
Crafting might go up to rividium but good luck crafting weapons, armor or caravan with it on eu . Majority of those things need Braidwood and eu won't see a journeyman axe for a long time.
Has anyone seen information on whether artisans like lumberjacking will ever go higher than Journeyman
Will. Just not right now
Once nodes are able to progress further. But they are currently locked
so will every profession me able to achieve GM
I am trying to balance my Artisan "tree"
Eventually, but you can only have so many gm per character. If you want a few. Invest in alts for it now.
There is also the issue with crafting tables at gm. You will more than likely need a freehold. So might want to find a guild that supports thay
*that
So 5 toons at 2 gm each is max 10 gm slots. So choose wisely.
I'm really torn between hunting/AH and Lumbermill/carp
Hunting is great and ah will be really cool I think. But once players have mounts , profit will drop and need will be random. Carpentry will be on-going. IMHO
My forward thought is we still have ships to build later in the game. Carpentry will surely be a need.
that does make sense
thanks for the help
Anytime 😊
Any idea why when I try to add a carcass for fuel at the table it does not show up in my bag?
Good news is the BoB will always be needed, as they're basically a consumable when it comes to Caravans.
That may be true , but i thought yoi BoB was the one thing you got back if your caravan was destroyed. Idk never lost one but, no need for a BoB unless you have a caravan first. And that requires carpentry. Just saying. On the real. Everyone of the professions will have a important part to play. My comment was more on the scale of continuous profitability. With that said , I could be totally wrong. But we did just see crocs go from 15g to 10g to 5g and now even as low as 2.5g if you find the right seller. I can sell 2 willow carriages for 4g and beat the vendors price. And I wasn't at a net loss when I hit journeyman. Like those in AH. So it was really a answer based on the 2 and what could be the most profitable in the long run.
With all professions, money will come from rarity. Currently, some skills have major issues around finding rarity
cough Animal fat
cough hunting
If anyone has Legendary Carcasses, the entire server wants to know your location
they will be actively hunted down and people will go red for a chance at that legendary fat for T3 weapon or armour crafting
Just add whales to fishing and let us render them
Just ran a heroic map. Uncommon slate and 85 silver. Which tells me the maps are priced way to high ATM. 🤔 I have an epic to run but not sure I want to risk it yet. Anyone wanna post what they got out of an epic?
Is there any use for carpenty at the moment other than Willow caravan parts?
need higher end milled wood for T2 and T3 crafts of all sorts
planks, boards, woodchips, paper, Dried T1 wood for T3 things, ect
those willow boards? needed for all slate molds and weaving cloth bolts
you can also make gathering baskets, a type of material bag with carpentry.
and bows/spellbows

just realised i squished carpentry with lumbermill
also bigger crates maybe
Gonna need carpentry in the future. Braidwood is used for many weapons and gear as well as caravans. Most ravidian weapons have a Braidwood component. I belive journeyman bags too.
yep. but that lumber mill i think
Well you have to have the axe first, then you have to be able to mill it. But you have to have carpentry to create things like bows. Archers gonna be with out. And there are lots of other components too.
Has anyone looked into siege equipment and if any of that is crafted or is it all vendor purchase.
Does anyone know if there are other apprentice scribe recipes in game? Like recipes for apprentice restored maps, adventuring exp, etc..?
Coal when ?
cmon Steven. Vyra has been naughty and caused the war dec exploit announcement. give us coal. plz

The only coal you’ll get is coalition
Run it and let me know if it's T3 mats ❤️ heroic has been pretty good to me, lots of bluebell, willow and halcy green and blue qualities, I'd assume they can roll higher
Has anyone else tested crafting quality on higher tier crafting material? It seems to fall off after rare/heroic, has anyone seen similar results?
There are recipes for apprentice maps, you can see them in your crafting UI when in town
I must be looking in the wrong spot.. we have the apprentice scribe station though.
Can you screenshot what it's supposed to look like?
I don't see it any more, strange. We had a whole discussion about it, because it required green ink
do the static tree spawns that give the same rarity everytime grow?
yes until cycle changes but only in certain areas
which areas?
XD search and find them
do you know how long it takes to grow into adult?
18-20 years
But in all seriousness, I've been hearing a day cycle
Not sure on exact time, but I did see that leg eastern hemlock become adult then when I chopped it it became Herioc so small theory that trees becoming adult changes rarity too
for the static trees I mean
I'm struglling a bit with this one, but are there good spots for bear hides? I've found a few spots with the 1 star L15 bears but my goodness it's a pain.
So.... I know that higher tier labs have access to higher tier excavation kits, but I've seen up to legendary being sold in market stalls. What mobs drop the kits?
its possible to craft them too. arcane engineering
On the road between Joeva and Halcyon to the west there’s a spot that looks kind of like a mined out quarry with 3 static huntable bear spawns + a pack of level 18-20 1* bears a little to the south. I don’t know the spawn timers on the static huntables but that would be my recommendation.
Thanks! Where's this in relation to Ursine? I'm honestly beginning to believe the huntables are static like you said and there'a no advantage to bear genocide in getting mroe to spawn
If you start in Halcyon and run to Joeva it’s about 30-60 seconds after the big fork/crossroads, you head south and it’ll be on your right
Basically west-northwest of Ursine?
why is it so hard to find flax, I've just gone on a decent adventure, seen much of the landscape and many types of herbs and minerals but not a single flax plant yet..
how do artisan clothes work? do i wear the processing clothes when i start it, claim it, or the entire time?
You can make it grow through farming if you want flax, not much but sure at 100% to have some
Kill animals and grow their poop into flax
To my knowledge, start only
Looking for an Apprentice Jeweler on the Vyra server to craft me some earrings. My mats + tip, and recipe included.
I might have missed the change, I don't pay much attention to xp, but XP was calculated on pickup
Laz
Gotta grow that freehold organic flax, with poop from real otters
No, that person is a griefer lol.
Lol how? He's such a care bear
Okay? Fighting over a mob? Did he train it on you?
Yeah. I had the mob first and got it to about half way health before he started grabbing mobs and training them onto me, and explicitly used CC, hoping for the mobs to finish me off so he could avoid going red.
You're a bard, do it back? I don't understand
Its ok lol, I will find a different jeweler, thank you for the recommendation tho.
Or just swallow your pride so you can stop spamming global
Nothing about pride, but rather I don't trust someone who commits to these behaviors, but again, thank you!
Oh man, you're on the wrong server. It's a PVP game and people will light up over a small ruby node. Good luck trying to get a raptor. Or a rare recipe.
Well, it is one of the real problems of the game that they need to work out before I devote any more time to testing. Normally, with a PvP game, the PvE content would be very light because people want to PvP not PvE. Making the PvE more hardcore doesn't make a lot of sense. Devoting time to it isn't progressing the objective of the game for players (Because it is a PvP game). It is also a bit odd, that you "Win" the game by denying players access to content/The Game. The "Behaviors" are encouraged by the game, or at least inspired by the game. As we have seen there is this constant dilemma, how do you protect the PvEers enough to get them to build/invest in the nodes, and create PvE content, yet make the objective of the game, looting them and destroying their creations? Until they sort that out, no one is going to be happy. The game is a technical marvel, but the actual "Game" in Ashes of Creation needs a lot of work.
That is obviously griefing and abusing the current messy corruption/flagging system to avoid corruption by getting someone killed. Wouldn’t be griefing/exploitative if he’d get corruption for doing it but the only reason he can’t just PvP is because of corruption.
Maple from <Otter Nonsense> is an apprentice JC
I've heard rumor so far that Intrepid is brewing up some workarounds for these griefers when it comes to mob training, but that still remains to be unclear. In the meantime, people can submit support tickets for review if necessary. I'll always pine for PVE-dedicated servers (or some type of Sanctuary server), as I believe there's always a time & place for PVE or PVP when players wish to opt into it willingly together, but that seems to be out of the realm of Sharif's creative vision thus far. In any event, I too share the same feelings as you.
Thank you for the referral! I'll see if I can track em down in game. 🙂
Anyone talking about coal ?@marsh vigil can buy gray steel weapons but cannot craft them big sad
Or hunting rarity? Coal is useless if we're still gate kept by blue mold and hide, quality rating doesn't seem to help when using legendary material
Also can't make high quality foods because of butter.... Lots of kinks to work out
What pieces you looking for?
Currently looking to have Hoodwinx's wooden earrings crafting (Two of them). I have all the mats and the recipe. Just need an apprentice-level jeweler to do it.
I can do it. Send me a dm.
Character name? lol
DM on disc. At work for another hour.
Question, dont know if i understand correctly, you cant get more than 5 apprentice professions, it says to increase or decrease another to progress, so i can also progress another to journeyman to get it up to apprentice?
No
So at the end you will have 5app+
1 apprentice 1 journeyman 1 master and 2 grand master
Choose wisely 😬
o wow ok. Thanks! I didnt choose wisely, just leveled all of them xD. Gonna think about what to do next then.
If you demote something it drops to LVL 10
So if you had mining to 19 and demote it to novice it falls to LVL 10
Keep that in mind when shuffling skills
Yeah not sure what im gonna do yet. Dont mind being set back on fishing or something.
Ya fishing is the easiest to level
also i only use that for the town gathering things. Id rather be able to make planks than catch salmon
Ya fishing is kind of useless currently...... None of the fish make good food and they aren't used for anything else
Bluegill is ok for casters I guess but that's about it
Alright so I ran the epic map. Got 2.5 gold and 30 uncommon Braidwood and some potions. No curio coins. But man it took forever to find. Lol .
Much better than the heroics I have run.
What are curio coins used for?
I have no idea. But I have 86 of them.
Treasure hunter extraordinare
It is enjoyable. Used to like hunting sunken treasure and sunken ships in AA. I can say the maps currently are not worth what people are selling them for on marketplaces. Just happened to catch the epic for 4 gold unfinished so I grabbed it. That was probably the only one that was worth the cost. In my opinion.
The Braidwood is nice but we don't have lumbermilling for it yet so for now it will just take up storage space.
And it would be nice if they put a countdown timer on the maps so you know how long you have left before they expire.
How long is the timer? I've been saving most of my maps for when they were less buggy.
I managed to complete one grey one and the chest bugged out. Just watching all that copper sitting there unlootable broke me.
sorry, i don't know what the time is , or if it varies by map rarity- but they do time out
so when you craft higher quality tools, all materials must be same level of quality? you want rare axe, wood and fragments must be rare?
A few hours usualy
Correct
and mold must be higher quality too then? how u get that
Some items will split the difference. Where an epic piece and a rare piece will give heroic. But not all
Molds are crafted
So those parts need to be at rarity too
Yep
Each item in a craft has the same bearing on the end result
So if you have 20 wood, 1 mould and 1 string
All 22 items have the same input on the rarity
So 1 wood = 1 mould
So going much higher wood rarity will have a bigger impact
But if you put the items in, it will let you know what the final will be in rarity prior to you hitting the craft button
I am not confident it weights everything equal
No, I just processed something yesterday with 1 over and 1 under and got the mid
Test it
You don’t have to craft to see the result
So you can pull out items and add others to see how it changes the result
The quality result is locked in before you click craft
so hows with the repair price, does it stay the same no matter the quality or it goes up?
Im well aware, I am just not confident it is all equal based on my experience so far crafting
Never noticed. That is to deep for me. 😆
I'm just like shut up and take my money. I got things to do
Molds seem to have a higher impact, I put a blue mold with common everything else and still get green, but a white mold and 1 blue will still be white
It makes sense since molds are made from a bunch of other items.
Wished there was a way to make a specific blueprint better like gaining exp crafting it eventually you can craft it better or with less mats or maybe even higher quality like a mini skill tree for crafters or for specific recipes would be interesting
There's supposed to be artisan skill trees where you can spec into different things, something to look forward to.
You can mix rarity, even between subcomponents. Like you could mix blue and green wood, purple and heroic fragments, etc.
quality weights are equal for all components, except vendor items and special(boss-drop) fragments
I can't speak for everything, but I know for sure the stuff with the rarity changed when creating Excavation Kits, with the update on Saturday.
I was able to create an Uncommon Kit with Common Copper/Zinc, only using Uncommon Ash. Now that won't work. (Probably fixing the rarity problem, where it was "broken" before though)
But you can still "Mix and Match" rarities and get higher. (Rare Ash + Common Zinc/Copper = Uncommon Kit)
This first sentence is not always true although it’s unclear why. e.g. I was crafting a heroic polished tin item and if I used a green slate mold and white otter hide it was heroic but a green otter hide and white slate mold was blue.
Yeah, I don't think that's true either. I think some items have a bigger bearing on the outcome. I haven't played with crafting much other than maps and kits recently, but I don't think it's 1:1.
Usually they’ve all seemed to be the same to me. Molds are the exception I’ve noticed.
And Maps/Kits don't have many parts, so harder to say with them. (4 in a kit and 2 in a map)
I do know if you use 3 Uncommon and 1 Common in a kit, it will be Common though.
weights are the same, when you noticed the difference with mold, it is either clothes|node buff applied or the ui bug, i suggest to re-open crafting window before you want to change any components
regarding the excavation kit, you should be able to craft the uncommon one with 1 common + 3 uncommon components
You can't.
I was trying to conserve copper, lol. I mixed and matched every way possible.
Hense why I went to Rare Ash, because that's easier to get.
oof i misslooked the result row, sorry, i meant 3 common + 1 heroic
hey @development this is fucking bullshit, selling a T2 finished food for the processing cost of a single step in the long ass chain to make them. how about 10s
I have another one for you to think about, in regards to maps. A Common Faded Map + Legendary Ink = Heroic. Why does an Uncommon Faded Map + Legendary Ink NOT = Epic? (It's Heroic as well)
(I wasn't able to get either Common or Uncommon higher than Heroic)
I have a theory, but I have to drop 2 gold to buy a faded rare map to test it. lol
is the recipe 1 map + 1 ink + 1 vendor item?
ye, im just asking, if the recipe i mentioned is correct?
oke, if you want epic result using 1 legendary component, the least quality of the second should be heroic
Hmm, I had a theory with numerical values for the rarities, but my tests with the Kits disproves my theory....
you could ask me for any combo for kit, i predict your results 🙂
I know exactly what they'll be too. I've made so many of them since they fixed the maps. lol
well there are only 126 possible outcomes xD
yup, you are correct, my bad wording kills me sometimes
Lol, I knew what you meant.
anyway, i could assure that weights are equal for any component, i still not come with a recipe that works against my model
ofc i have not tested ingame all 65k permutations for some armor craft... im still in search for data that disproves my findings
Yeah, I'll play with it some more myself. I have a TON of different linen rarities. I'll run some tests with making different tailoring items.
wtf even is this treasure map spawn
That's a rare map, you have to look somewhere in all of those three.
look at my screen. I swear to god, I have been over every square inch
and its so dark, densely forested, has a freehold on it, and night time with fog
ive been here, legit, 45 minutes
They are a pain sometimes. I had one half sticking out of some rocks yesterday.
Chop them trees down. I couldnt find mine, but I heard that the site can spawn under trees and stuff.
Lol, yeah. When in doubt, clear cut the entire forest!
I have heard that turning DOWN the graphics can make them easier to spot too. But I haven't tested that.
Yeah, hopefully it's full of rare willow for you!
this is a rare... im petrified thinking of the Heroic in my inventory
I haven't done one of those myself, so GL! lol The one I did yesterday was a rare too. It took me probably 30 minutes at least to find it. Then it was kinda sticking out of the rocks, not even flat on the ground. Sorta levitating.
thanks for the tips, fellow Pax bro, I will keep looking
No problem my Lord! o7
It is absolutely not a UI bug, molds are weighted different
At tested with slate and basalt on numerous items
could you please tell the example recipe you are referring to and the combination you used when encountered the difference?
Which of the hundreds of times?
The easiest to duplicate, blue basalt molds white everything else for 2nd sword boots
any of when you noticed the difference
nice, gimme a minute to check
The weighting get weird past blue quality, but there is noticable difference between green and blue slate molds as well
You can sub a blue zinc and white mold and it will not go green
2 rare zinc + 1 common mold and which grem?
Not two, one blue zinc
got it, in this combo(3 common + 1 rare) you would get a common item
Should, but blue mold gives green
2x White zinc 1x white Grem 1x blue mold = uncommon boots
strange, id need to check this ingame(in case you are not near the bench and wouldnt kindly provide a screenshot)
I'll have to run from Mira to joeva 🤣
do not bother than, ill check it rn
Or dig through vods
There are node buffs that affect craft quality
hey fellas, can you help me choose on what artisan skills to choose? im planning on being purely artisan buy im torn on what to choose cuz i understood you can only specialize in two, geneually what to choose the once that are the lest saturated and that will help the most ppl
Tested without
youd better try all of them to choose, you are free to demote a level at any time
The most self sufficient artisan skills are lumberjack-lumbermill-carpentry
You could also go mining, stonemasonry, metalworker, jewelcraft
im pretty sure you just did not reopened the UI when you were testing, it bugs out often when you swap components back and forth, or you tested it with >100 quality rating(e.g. clothes) this combo is exactly one step behind the threshold for quality change. The price for this check was 3 innocent grems killed to spawn the huntable one 😦
thats 3, you can only use 2 right?
You can only get 2 to max rank, you can have 5 at apprentice, 4 at journeyman, 3 master, 2 grandmaster. Only 5 skilled, professions total, but the end distribution is 1 apprentice, 1 journeyman, 1 master, 2 grandmaster.
So you can be self sufficient for the carpentry track all the way to master.
this sounds more up my ally, jewelcrafting sounds super cool and like its the most usefull cuz all players needs jewelary, also was considoring scribing
Yeah. My recommendation is to choose your main craft profession, and work backwards for what you need for it.
Jewelcrafting sounds cool until you discover how underwhelming the jewelry recipes are.
I'm sure it will get better as they add more content.
Just went and checked, I did test with apprentice armorsmithing clothes
nice, you could also check the common mold with 1 any other rare component and you would get the same result, weights are equal
I will happily screenshot this not being true later
It 100% does not weight slate mold the same as tin ingot or otter hide
would appreciate! want my calculator to be 100% correct, so i need proofs of me being wrong
please do not forget to re-open the bench before swapping components
The best thing about jewelry, is the base stats it can give you, like int, dex, ect, that can be easily enchanted. I believe they enchant cheaper than other armor slots, but don't quote me on that.
they do
So yeah, they're cheap stat boosters
They are much cheaper to enchant, and Im sitting at over 140 int now after +7'ing all of my crafted jewelery slots only. 100% worth it.
What's the going price for animal fat at rare or higher on y'all's servers?
Gold
What rare animal fat, if people have it they horde it
You might have about 30 gold there in fat per Vyra server. Not counting the bones or hide
5-10g per heroic, and 1-2g at least for the rare
Rare animal fat goes for at least 2g in Lotharia last time I checked, and heroic fat I have never seen. I wouldn't be surprised if people sold it for like 15g
I saw someone buying for 10g each last week
you dont need the molds to be any rarity so idk why people spend so much on them
I was able to make a heroic JM pickaxe with just a common slate weapon mold
They want to make legendary or epic tool, which probably requires it
the rarity was shown before I even put in the weapon mold, I dont think the mold adds much if any effect on it. I'll be testing it on legendary soon tho
id definitely /bug it and dont take advantage of that. That is unintended forsure
Rarity being shown before you craft has always been a thing
im talking about him being able to use a common weapon mold to make a legendary item
He didn’t get a legendary, he got heroic
He testing legendary soon
correct, but hes gonna test it again with a legendary. He is saying the weapon mold isnt impacting the rarity decision for some reason
It has a little impact since it’s 1 of 22 items, it just doesn’t have more than 10% impact
Let's hope for an animal rarity fix in this next patch
First time here I do t know what the conversation is about I just want to say out of the dozen or so mmos I have played this artisan style is always my favourite detailed and lengthy. Work for what you get. Unfortunately the whiners always get it nerfed to three clicks to legendary… I have faith Steven and his team will stay strong and keep the game pure.
The biggest complaints so far about artisan are bug related, the stupid amount of materials to advance crafting levels (and the complete uselessness of novice gear), and the fact that we cannot mix and match quality in processing actions .
Also want for a custom input for processing orders
Also some jank with availability of some novice resources. Which I mean really it’s novice tier. They need to be accessible to everyone there
My issue is vendor's making early crafting pointless. Why have a scribe or tailor when you can just buy the basic gear
cuz i cant buy legendary vendor gear
Yes but the investment isn't worth it in most cases.
And you can only buy shoes pants and chest
Crafted gear of the early tier is not superior?
Iv worked out the estimated gain from rarity rating on hunting and gear does make a difference but its minimal per rarity point
It’s beginner gear
it generally isnt, especially in a unfinished design
I’m not sure why it matters
Not when you get to level ten in a few hours and farm apprentice gear in another three or four
Which sort of defeats the original complaint anyway 🤷🏻♂️
if ur playing ssf then yeah it matters XD
Did I miss something? I thought the original complaint was that crafting novice stuff was pointless atm
Except for exp anyway
so each rarity calculates to around 0.058% increase from hunting testing
wait till u get tech trees that give 1000% rarity increases 🙂
and X chance to 2x or more resources
Trees are in a class of there own but I can usually tell if a tree is going to give me a uncommon+ and usually just go for them. Its why I have 90+ legendary wood in my bank. Though I struggle with Ash trees
I'm afraid I can not as that is a trade secret. I will say there is a visual indicator just like with flowers
Cut enough trees and pay attention and you will learn.
I actually also know the trick to good trees, and I mostly find good ash trees.
i like that pun 😛
Fair enough
You go for the odd/stand out trees. Look at the most common trees in the area, skip them, and look for trees that only show up on their own.
Rarity rating is more effective at lower rarities, it's diminishing probability to upgrade your resource as its base rating gets higher
Visual indicator of rarity 163 vs 153 grems because I'm an idiot who miscounted
It's still a great example of how your rarity distribution shifted higher up the spectrum.
From the grem test rarity increase of 0.058% per rarity rating
There is obviously luck and we don't know if level affects anything as well as other factors but it's still a good example
We also tried crafting a legendary tailoring shirt but only had green raptor hide. But even with everything els legendary and a tailor pants and shirt at common we only got an epic 202 tailoring shirt (not to bad since legendary only has 211 rarity increase)
Still pretty close, my guild scored a rare raptor we're going to try our best with
It's not like that small difference will make or break things, and now the rest of your shirts will be better
You should also be able to enchant it, and since you cracked 200 stat points, I think you get +2 rarity per level instead of 1, because it's supposed to be 1% additional stats
for crafting, quality rating is indeed 100 for 1% increase, more testing needed to estimate rounding sequence
Not sure its worth it to enchant but we might
Crafting rarity just seems like it doesn't do much but we will test with what we have.
I'm interested if anyone has done any testing on processing rarity
You can safely +7 or so right? An extra 14 quality rating could be nice.
No idea how well it translates to crafting though, so maybe not
it does when you are about hitting the threshold
e.g. this is with zero bonus rating
I assume it's similar to gathering rarity. You get a second rarity roll and if you roll high enough, it can upgrade, I've had large batches of uncommon pop up with rare and heroic. (only a few)
while this is with 100 rating
This is why I want a carpentry shirt, the rare/epic threshold is big for caravan pieces.
So confirming its a threshold not a % based system
Is that using all legendary material? And what was that crafting?
There's 2 parts, the final rarity, and the actual stats. The stats scale somewhat linearly, but the rarities have thresholds that you just need to get enough good stuff to push over the edge
the columns on the left is the components rarity, and this is a pickaxe(you may say by stat name xD)
yes, correct
I’m stupid what is this??
that is my calculations for crafting output using a combination of different quality components
Ohh I see
In my testing, the weight of 1 rarity up offsets the loss of a piece 1 rarity down. Having 5 legendary and 5 heroic, you get an epic fairly straight forward there.
We did do a test with a legendary lumber axe and rarity didn't seem to improve it at all so maybe we didn't get above the threshold with a rarity of 165 we only made https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1325804462580699173/1328291800603033641/image.png?ex=6786d463&is=678582e3&hm=07900ad8f29c56ea1be862bafdab917890ff667e62b037b41e0ca88b38d89be2&
This is because it's not a craft, you can't add quality rating to go over the minimum.
You're quality rating only applies to items made with the relevant crafting profession
that depends but +- yes
It was me trying to balance out mats to get over the rare/epic thresholds. 😅
if you link me an item from codex i could say the lowest cost for rare and epic thresholds 🙂
Thanks, I'm cool with the trial and error though. 😁
ehh, the attempt to find outsource tester failed completely xD
How do you work it out because my equation needs abit of work. I'd calculated a legendary or the tailor shirt using all legendary apart from 1 green raptor and quality on crafting gear of 115
Ye My assumption and math
Its calculated on a scale of 0-600 with 600 being legendary
Value of a rarity
Common x1
Uncommon x2
Rare x3
Heroic ×4
Rare x5
Legendary x6
Each ingredient is a % of the rarity. E.g. tailoring shirt has 13 Ingredients 13÷100 = roughly 8%
So if we have 12 legendary and 1 uncommon
12 X 8% X 6 = 5.76 (576) + 1 X 8% X 2 = 0.16 (16)
576+16 = 592 = high end epic
Now for clothing.
Crafting rarity ÷2 then ÷ 10 then turned into a %
E.g. common Apprentice tailor shirt 56 rarity = 56 ÷ 2 = 28 ÷ 10 = 2.8%
So 592+2.8% = 608 (legendary).
But I got an epic
this is how you could get legendary with 115 rating
weights are not that flat, there is quality score system with thresholds
I dont suppose you would be willing to pm me your math so I know where I went wrong with my math and if my assumption was just wrong
Could you run the numbers with a rating of 272 and see what a the lowest quality single ingredient is?
you mean if you equipped with 272?
Ye
i would not like to share until ill be 100% sure it is correct
this based on curve 109166871729784?
So it's likely even a rare hide wouldn't do it
yes
Does processing have a similar system. Iv not really delved into processing at all
15g - thats my price I selling it in Joeva, hah xD
i can tell you that with the quality bonus of the common app jeweler set, its enough to still keep an emerald necklace blue quality if you use one green emerald and everything else blue
one of the 2ndary bonuses will be a 2 instead of a 1 tho, if you used all blue mats
anyone know if for processing skills (tanning with and the recipe for tanned raptor hide for example) can you use say rare weeping willow woodchips and common raptor hide to end up with uncommon tanned raptor hide? I know for crafting skills you can see the rarity of the item in the outcome but for processing is using better materials just a chance? Is it random or do we have any numbers to prove this? Is it even possible to process something with 2 different rarity materials?
no
you cannot mix and match rarity. which is why you find uncommon slate molds selling for over a gold. (they take animal fat)
tyvm
if your mid step proscessing has a particular hard to get item like animal fat, remove ALL artisan gear that can proc rarity. if it pops well, now you need to start over and find more stuff of lower tier, or regather mats to match your new higher tier item
im hoping with all the carcasses i have saved i can boost my rarity as much as i can with clothing / food / elixirs and node buffs to make some of the leather / fat better tier 🙏 and then base my craft off of that
lvl 30 hunting and ive gotten 4 heroic drops, 1 carcass, 2 trainables, and 1 spider carapace
oh yeah that part is good for rarity boost. as is the final processing step.
i tested it a bit in phase 1. Didnt notice much of a difference as well. But with Legendary axe + Legendary bag + Epic Bag + Common apprentice clothes im pretty sure that it got increased a bit. But i think Lumberjacking is working kinda wired atm
all gathering seems messed up atm... LJ and mining static nodes and hunting not giving high rarity
hopefully they fix / change some of these things during the break
Would be nice if they at least fixed animal rarity
yes please im tired of all high rarity crafting being locked behind hunting 🙏
Hunting rarity needs high priority for a fix, LJ needs more a system like mining has but the mining node shuffle needs happen more frequently then current
Ye. Not that it matters to much because I still don't have the full equation on rarity rating and how it affects crafting rarity
Heavy armour and weapons take molds that need animal fat and hides, light and medium gear crafting take hides, several other crafts take animal bones and fat hide and bones are all by products if hunting, and when crafting if you use all blue input items you get a blue output item but if I use legendary metal for armour but can only use a white mold that makes resulting armour more likely to be heroic so high rarity stuff that needs a hunting component basically can't be crafted without 1 the maybe 5 server wide higher rarity hunting items
I think the best way to make crafted gear better than vendor is that higher than common rarity gear should be way better stat wise. You should be able to make a heroic (or epic if that's to easy to attain) level rarity item and have it almost on par with the next tier due to how much it takes
I mean... Have you seen Enchanted Apprentice Gear? It's insane...
Necklace...
37 Magical Power
10 Mana Regen
7 Magic Penetration
9 Int - (27 Magic Power - 9 Magic Penetration - 9 Magical Accuracy)
Find me a drop that beats that for casters.
Not disputing the enchanting issue but which neck are those stats from?
yeah that things great but the rare bone ring is actually more insane imo
I mean.. I'd love some otter bones.
I really need to level hunting on an alt to get those bones...
Ahhh that's one I still need farm up
Idk if it's just me but hoodwinx doesn't spawn on my server, was there for two hours yesterday (and stopped by many times in previous day's) and never seen a single spawn
Does your crafting level affect stats or you can make it with 10 only ?
Saw somewhere that there's a vendor buying Beast of burden for a bit more right?
Can't find it
Crafting level does not affect stats. Shits, Skivies and Belts do.
Hoodwinx has two spawn locations. The first one is the tower area spawn, the other is where the tauren-like creatures are around a stone circle. Sometimes hoodwinx spawns inside the boulder that is located at the first spawn mentioned, so you have to pull em out or else it'll remain hidden.
Here's the heroic versions of the jewelery you're all talking about.
My two hours was at the tower but I've checked both in previous visits, I would say he's been in the rock for me but I've not heard noise or anything to know, what kinda base mob is hoodwinx based on?
It's a hoarder chest sprite. You can use AoE to draw it out from the rock, but also can jump inside the rock at a specific angle.
Thanks for info I'll try probing the rock more next time
he’s a mimic
like an actual one when I fucked with him in P1, he wouldn’t aggro unless you either walked up and interacted with him or used an aoe on him
There is a little bit of lore also that drops from the hoarder chest if you find a damp note. Thieves cursed from Carphin for stealing iirc
That’s neat
Hoarder also has a pretty long respawn timer compared to a lot of other rares
So he's kind of a rough one to catch
So, I know Rare and Heroic+ animal fat are valuable... Is uncommon animal fat valuable? I have literally stacks of it
Im assuming its just for slate armor/weapon moulds, yeah?
depends where, there is a certain tower where he is always ready every 5 min
It holds a little value as it is better then common but people aren't happy with mid rarity gear so there's more demand on the rare and heroic for 'max' roles
well mid gear value got killed when they hit it with the hammer
no reason to use crafted greens when dropped greens are better
I guess I will wait for the long requested " "- Fixed bug with Hunting rarity not working properly" patch note
Just don't hold your breath, we don't need another soul leaving verra
is there any way to get Coke? does a vendor sell it?
Not that we’re aware of.
Neither Coal nor Coke seems to exist
coke need coal to make but i dont think coal has a source in game yet
are the crafting station in Lionhold just for the initial tutorial?
yes
Is there any research done to show the possible outcome ranges for materials and rarities out of the different treasure maps?
So we coming up on journey man tables and we don’t have a way. How are we able to test the economy if we don’t have the resource
what you mena, whats missing to test journeyman benches?
Coke and coal
okay so report the coal absence (which i have) then go and test everything else you can
steel is only one metal and your acting like you cant test the others that exist
you do realize steel is one of the most important items to craft all the other weapons and armor?
Bug it dude -- not everyone is into making chastity belts and butter knives -- the other journeyman benches can be tested
is coal different than charcoal in this manner? I know metalworkers can make charcoal i believe
Yes it’s different. Coal is from mining
I got edition 1100

I've started collecting data but only have about 20 maps in atm
Ello
I've been a crafter in every MMO i've ever played, and the last time I had actual fun with that was in OSRS times... So I'm gonna see if AoC will be more fun! 😄
Well if you like the endless grind of osrs, this will be fine
Oh. Oh yes I do. Numbies Go BRRRRR.
It's nice searching for the good mats if you don't mind that kind of activity
I don't mind that at all. When the game was kickstarted, I was daydreaming of being a simple blacksmith, crafting in a town for the various guilds in said town.
Wonderful. Gathering and processing isn’t too bad, but you will find familiarity with spamming out trash items to gain exp on the end crafting side.
However, you can’t 99 every craft here.
There are 22 odd artisan skills between gathering processing and crafting. You may take any 5 and raise them to apprentice cert. then you may take four of those 5 and raise them to journeyman. 3 of those 4 to master, and two of those master to grand master (maximum level)
The other 17 odd skills will always be stuck at novice tier. You may respec, but doing so forfeits exp to the void
Oh you have an ancient tag. Might not have needed this explanation then
Oh no I do...
As I said, I got on the kickstarter almost instantly
That's been a while
And I have NOT followed the whole thing, 'cause I'll be honest, I got rather disillusioned that Ashes would ever come to be. But tadaaa, here it is! So its been rediscovered by my brain, and now I'm finally in a place in my life to be able to play an MMORPG properly again
So essentially,
2 skills max to Grandmaster
That's super cool
I'll see which feels most useful and fun, and go with that.
Yep!
For the purposes of exp, quality does not matter for processing and crafting. Legendary materials here give the same as common.
Gathering does give bonus exp based on rarity tho.
So what's the general consensus in terms of artisan classes. What professions etc are most common / used in the Alpha 2?
Ooh that’s a good question. Once you get to t2 or t3 crafting, everything requires a bit of everything.
Oh? So, like, a guild wanting to raid in Wow would need Food, Flasks, Enchantments, and gear. So of course it needs a bit of everything. But some things are botted to heck and back, so they're cheap and easy to level for anyone to provide to the guild.
I'm wondering what might be "fun" and "useful" in AoC, 'cause that's where I derive engagement from.
Oh I mean the crafting skills require a bit of everything.
Aha, interesting
I heard about the pants that could only be made in a raid (or dungeon) from Pirate Software
Seemed interesting, so I'm wondering if there's other things as well
Tin sword. Most basic T2 weapon
Needs a handful of tin ingots
apprentice mining tin ore, metalworking to fragments then again to ingots
Willow timber or planks
lumber jacking to lumber milling
Slate weapon mold
mining for 3 slate
herbalism or farming into weaving for bluebell thread
hunting into tanning for animal fat
using the above to stonemason into slate clay and slate mortar
woodcut willow into lumbermill into willow board
combine the board mortar and clay into slate weapon mold
Wowza, that's complex. But is a basic T2 weapon ever needed/wanted?
haven't actually checked if this is accurate but - this is to make the T2 pickaxe to even start getting t2 mats
https://i.imgur.com/oXsXsYp.png
I heckin' love this.
it gets complex real quick after that
This is doing things to my body and brain, in the same way that Factorio's "Krastorio 2" and "Pyanodons" did
Sometimes. There are multiple levels of gear in each main tier and Tiers are more or less the main level gates. 1-9 10-19 20-29 30-39 40-50
Each tier of gear is within these level ranges, so a level 1-9 player can use any and all novice gear they find. The end crafter only needs the ingots, wood and mold but that’s the entire proscess explained to obtain all the ingredients.
Currently…main leveling rates are infinitely more fast than the leveling rates for crafting so though crafted gear of its tier can always be stronger than the mob drop gear, everyone outpaces novice before it can get wound up
Metallic apprentice tier of gear (10-19) from weakest to strongest (not counting special monster recipes and sets)
Tin, brass, bronze.
Tin is the easiest to make and weakest stats of the three, so it makes for wonderful exp grinding. But any player within the levels of 10-19 can use tin or even bronze if they can find or make it. Even level 10s
Aha, so people out level the crafting speed, but crafted gear is always better than dropped gear of the same tier.
That's actually super cool. I don't remember any game doing that other than OSRS way-way back (although that might be my 8y old brain remembering things wrong)
yea like rn lvl 10crafted gear that is enchanted is better than lvl 20
More or less. It’s difficult to find any dropped gear of above blue, rare tier. Which is middle rarity. Crafters can guarantee higher quality gear as it’s based on a breakpoint system with zero rng. They just need the right buffs and materials
Currently you can enchant quite a few Apprentice (10-19) crafted things up to on par/better than lv20 dropped. Journeyman (20-29) crafting is currently unavailable on most servers due to progression
ya
Right, even the grindiest folks haven't prog'd past Apprentice tier then?
also btw an alternative for u mages is to craft sephillion shard ring over bone ring they both end up offering vaguely the same stats and seph ring is infinitely easier to make
It takes a lot of progression on a serverwide basis... I'm too tired to properly explain that
Appreciate the guidance already so far Verium. Big love from Big newbie over here.
They hit max level with full gear slots of their tier not even 48 hours in
That's silly, but not unreasonable for an Alpha I guess.
Either way
I'm happy to just dig in
I heard you can "craft" mounts with Animal Husbandry, which is gonna be fun.
And Alpha 2 is a persistent test, right? Only to be poofed when Beta strikes?
It's such an addicting game...
That's what my ADHD is looking for.
Meds are expensive and work is boring. I need my Dopamine boost from somewhere.
If the servers aren't wiped this week then yeah I would assume them to be persistent until May at minimum
More or less Tim yes. On a two day down 5 day up schedule till May
Ah hill yisss
Okay, guess I've gotta chill and wait till Friday morning 😦
Make a char, and hope my RTX 3080 doesn't blow up
Though yes there is a non zero chance of some wipes due to mass exploitation and griefers running unopposed for the last 3 weeks
Oof, it might tbh
Meh, that's fine.
That bad...?

That might be rough but I believe in you
It's a 3080 Ti if that makes it any better 😦
But am I really gonna struggle with the game that much...?!
The most difficult boss of this alpha is the load screen boss.
Error 31 and 32 wiped half the population.
well, load screen matters less to me than if my PC starts to take off like a helicopter with asthma...
I checked system requirements and it seems that it's pretty reasonable. RTX 3070 recommended...
Ah well, if you have any technical issues there’s usually 4-5 work from home software engineers and a few grass evaders that knows more about computers than their family lurking in general. They’ll answer your questions in Questions or General.
If you have ADHD, play bard, you’ll have a blast
charcoal is an apprentice craft and used as fuel where coal made into coke is a journeyman craft and is used as additional item to craft steel to make steel items
thats a T3 pickaxe, or maybe a advanced T2 need to check that ingame. It cant be an starter T2 since it needs allready tin which is a T2 mat, you would have no chance to get without this axe.
I play on a 1070, you can do it I believe, I may get 15 fps on carphin but that's ok
I am on a 2080Ti with max graphics and 4k resolution and works without a problem
@rough owl wonderful. here is a very small overview of just how intricate the artisan system is
Spreadsheets indeed my fren. Spreadsheets indeed.
At this moment, in the current state of the game, I don't see any advantage of crafting armors and weapons compared to what we can loot.
It's much easier to loot than to craft, and the quality of the loots is globally better.
Is this a temporary situation, because the system needs to be tuned?
i imagine one way or the other it will be temporary. because people can blitz to 20 in a day, 25 within two (no life blitz) and even more casual plays will advance you on a fresh server, well into level 10+ before any decent novice crafting can be set up. so novice gear is almost entirely useless extept to sell for coppers to new arrivals. when a single copper frag will cost you 5-10s
I agree. The question is more for level 20 gear. This is where it can be interesting to start crafting gear, so as to prepare for the first public or instantiated dungeons. Or to loot it.
Ya right now the only point to crafting gear is getting up to 20 and waiting until you can use it.... Once you start crafting and enchanting level 20 gear it's going to be good. I imagine it only goes up from there too, master and gm will be much more favored towards crafters.
People are enchanting level 10 crafted gear with +8 and +10 stats, making them double the effectiveness compared to lvl 20 dropped gear.
Enchanting is broken IMO but this is why crafting is better than the dropped loot.
Yes, but if it breaks, you can’t simply craft another. There’s little risk in enchanting crafted items compared to dropped.
I have never had equipment actually break. It's so easy to repair I imagine you'd have to mess up pretty badly to actually break something.
You just have to gamble a little too hard 🤣
oh over enchanting 8+ has a chance to delete the item entirely
might be as early at 7 but i dont recall
Yeah, correction, I meant destroy *
It's expensive to enchant that high though at least.
very. novice artisan shirt +4 is some 1.5g at least
and it gets more expensive for app gear and journeyman. you will be dumping thousands of gold for a level 50 5+ enchant i think
just in enchanting costs
Still, it's about enchanting. Not about the other crafts like armorsmithing or weaponsmiting
Idk, personally I think the enchant system needs changed.
Problem is, the only way to make gold decently is caravans, but people who beat you to enchanting are sitting there at caravans extorting people for gold, knowing you have no possible way of defending it.
I'm thrilled for the gold sinks. Gold sinks keep the game alive
Yeah, I’ve been doing this too, but these extortionists are making 50+g per hour, meanwhile it’s probably 1-2g/hr to farm t3 mats, not including the cost of repairs.
That's actually...one of the core tenants of the pvx system. You're supposed to caravan in groups. Like, yeah sure, it's easy to do caravan solo when it's a dead time on servers, but the whole idea is that it's the best gold generation in game and you should always seek protection
I agree, but their enchanted gear is so powerful, they can literally 1v4 us, one/two tapping all of us at the same level as them.
Those Gucci Phase 1 lamprey farming with a novice fishing rod. Made good early game money with
Agreed enchanting needs to be tuned down. There are plenty of ways to make gold though.
Caravans is the most reliable for sure but even treasure maps can make you decent amounts.
we will also be getting new gear advancment stuff in p2. Gem and socket, and tempering
I just don’t see the caravan system being used if people keep extorting to the level they are.
On our server you can't throw a stick without hitting 5 caravans so it's being used for sure 🤣
Ours used to be that way. Now everyone waits until 4am to run them just to hopefully avoid the harassment. Doesn’t always turn out successful either.
Caravan PvP is intended gameplay, wouldn't be very interesting if it was just a free way to print money. Everything in this game is designed to be risk vs reward and I think that's what makes it great.
it currently is a free way to print money if you are part of a zerg
Zergs will own this game and everything in it.
To a certain extent yes
keep in mind, we have about half of their initial planned maximum server cap squished into 15% or less of their final map
Actual pirates is proving that isn't fully true though..... Sounds like fed walks all over them at every turn just because they are better and more organized..... Even though their membership is less than half they still get to set the pace.
Now they are also a zerg just a much smaller one
no idea who that is and I dont really care
but on vyra, certain guilds run like 30 caravans at once, and when they arent, they are partrolling for caravans and destroying anything they see, no point in running your mid caravan with a couple of hired protection (friends) when 4 v 15 means you lose guarenteed lol
according to stevens data from his previous stream, the stuff he shared about caravans on US realms seemed super friendly - not even 500 have been destroyed, yet more than 12000 have reached their destination on each of the us servers iirc
Ya but people zoom in on themselves it's pretty common.... I lost 2 caravans = everyone is losing all caravans.
I've yet to lose one to PvP out of 6.... We had people come sniffing twice but we sent them packing.
Lost 1 to a bug but it is what it is
ive been lucky, the townspeople in my realm will help each other if someone is getting attaced near town if they are a citizen. Only lost 1 of my 5 caravans, even though ive been attacked 3 times.
1 time though I had a stock caravan running 3 Size 1 crates, and got jumped by 12 level 25s near bears at halceon
okay ive got the numbers wrong in my head, vyra seems a bit more aggresive than lyneth, but overall it looks fine for such a small world map and such a big playerbase atm
i kinda want them to re-pull the numbers to see if the next week's number of caravans match. It would make it statistically significant that way. I think it would also be great if they had an ingame way to record if you paid someone off to get there safely, maybe include it in the dialogue when youre turning in your caravan?
"Hello there! Mighty fine cargo you've brought to us. Did you face any trouble in your journey? Perhaps you are short a few coin from where you started?"
My full legendary caravan including Lego Bob poofed summoning in front of miraleth a day after I built it
I'm Still not fully understanding caravans. Do you get anything for helping defend them?
I see them pass by and get a pop up to attack or defend.
I'm more inclined to defend but don't want to waste an hour to find out I get nothing. I heard it can take an hour to reach its destination.
unless the caravan owner pays you? The answer is currently no
By pay do you mean they have to just be an honest person and do a trade with you?
yes
yea, unless they feel like giving you something, you get 0.
in our town the expectation is we help you, you help us.
Yeah, it seems like caravans in the future will be a guild thing or like a PUG.
Need to get a group together of pickups in City hash out payment then go.
Would be nice if like trade you can see they have allocated payments to you once destination is reached it unlocks payment.
Be interesting if you could buy cargo from players to transport
As a way to sell glint to players essentially
Bro this data looks wrong.
Lost 3 caravans to pvp, 5 to bugs, only 8-10 reached destination.
Does any one can share crafting quality calculator?
You gotta look at it this way: You ran looks like 18 caravans total. Exclude the 3 lost to PVP, thats 15.
5/15 = 33% lost to bugs
However, the more you run, the more likely this percentage of lost caravans drops until it plateaus (the point of absurdity i.e. statistical significance). Steven's numbers include over 15,000 caravans, so his data is going to be much more significant statistically .
Your 18 caravans only make up 0.05% of all caravans
still sucks to be him though 😛
oh, 100% agree. One of our guildies had their caravan TP twice in one run, but he got it turned in at the end
I got my glint stored still. no way am I running caravans at the state of things. that time investment is too huge for the high probability of losses.
ooof.
Im gonna wait on caravans to kinda calm down before I do anything crazy
Bro your data is wrong, i ran 6 caravans and lost none to bugs
100% caravan completion here so clearly you are coping ||/s only did 1 XD||
Exactly you know what im sayin
the no limitation enchantment of gear actually destroy too much the balance of the game.
according to me, the simple thing to do with enchant is to stage the process according to the level of the scroll used.
1 and +2 + 3 at novice, and apprentice/ journeyman would be +6 and grand master +9
so for now gear shouldn t be able to be enchanted more than +3 on lvl 10 gear and not more than +6 on lvl 20 and lvl 30, +9 for the lvl 40 and 50 stuff
Could you go into more detail on how it destroys balance in its current state?
Once you go past +7-8 enchantment, your odds of succeeding get low and failure is much more likely to result in losing levels, losing all levels, or destroying the item. Without a cap it makes for an endless gold consumption for power, limited by nothing but your tolerance for RNG. This has a lot of problems but among them is definitely that it encourages RMT.
Huh, I mean I can see it, but just seems not as big an issue to me. I've got plenty of +8 gear right now, so imagining the difference between +8 and +10 or something is like, yeah it's more powerful, but not to a "the balance is destroyed" level
How about the difference between +8 and +20
Doubtful, but that’s the point—throw enough money at the problem and you can get that. It’ll be more relevant once the craftable scrolls actually work and +20 becomes more plausible. But +8-10 is basically the limit right now for people with a sane amount of gold. If there’s no cap, I’d be worried about what that means for the game, personally.
Yeah fair. I'd be fine with a cap of like +10 or even +12 to incentivize scribes making scrolls of divine protection and such
Yeah, that seems like a sane design choice. There’s a functional cap right now only because the scrolls don’t work.
what do you mean scrolls dont work? i ask as i hit lvl 10 scribe xD
the enchanting scrolls beyond the basic novice/apprentice ones from the vendor appear to do nothing different from the basic ones
the one for less gold works, althou bugged and wants 10 heroic coral runes
at lvl 20 with lvl 10 enchanted gear now, you can go over 400 power, it s like 130 more than you have from normal gear lvl 20. Its a +50% increase power.
so you can kill easier the npc/boss , but also you act like a lvl 35+ vs lvl 25 in pvp
that destroy any kind of balance in all the aspect. It s not a boost it s completly destroying any fight, making pvp a one bullet challenge. No fun in this
+50% power in attack but still the same health and defense to counter
it s like killing rabbit lvl 1
there is no future with such an unbalance type of fight
no skill needed just a lot of gold and that s it
better would be to keep it scaled as i said in my previous message, so the upgrade exist but is not game breacker
I mean... You know armor gets upgraded too right... not just weapons.
So you get Con and Mentality. For armor.. crit avoidance.. ect ect..
Also, if you think 400 is something.... look at what a lvl 20 wand, focus and 2h spellsword gets you. Pushing well over 600.
When he says 400 he’s talking about total physical power displayed on your character sheet. The stat on weapons is physical power rating. Not the same thing.
