i think once its broken or damage taken it does need a cooldown otherwise it defeats any point fighting a rogue
I haven't played rogue myself, but from what I've seen watching videos of people playing them they have to break line of sight to go back into stealth.
I think if they do put a CD on it, they'd have to take off that mechanic. Ranger doesn't have to do that, but has the long cooldown.
To be fair if rogue's enemies are to close they should NOT be able to hide again. A rogue shouldn't be able to go stealth in front of anyone. A distance factor seems reasonable to me and no CD
ive seen many rogues activate stealth in direct and close line of sight and if you dont track them pixel perfect they gone.. i dont ming rogue having stealth and sneaking up to get jump on you for first strike they are ambush predator class, they have multiple skills for maneuver around you to get behind you for backstab bonus i dont think they should be able to do as i have witnessed many times as soon as they look like losing a fight they stealth and run
this would still upset every rogue but would be a possible answer, i dont mind the ambush tactic its rogue identity but they shouldnt have a free out every time they not winning thats the part i have issue is the excape with stealth being how they doing that
not to 'WoWify' it but the best fix may be to make stealth no cooldown but only useable if you haven't been hit for X time and give them a skill like vanish on a long cooldown to get back into stealth once for emergencies
this would be a viable answer
Summoner pet toolbar still borked
Its actually worse than it was lmfao. Mine is locked to the hunter pet which I don't even have at the moment lmfao
it is, known issue and they got people looking at it but its also christmas break so prob wont see full solution till after new year
great
For now you can press K to open the skill book and manually slot the correct skills onto the pet bar or your own hot bar
thanx did not know that
okay guys if you dont know how the class or skill works please learn before saying something like this. This is already how it works. You have to be a certain distance away from anything (mob or player) or break line of sight to stealth
Again learn the class and skills. It does go on cooldown when it is broken by damage. The only recovery to this is if you have a smoke bomb to restealth.
This is not true at all. Stealth is not a "I'm free to do whatever I want button" Level disparities and line of sight can see through stealth
......................
Nothing white knight about it. I've put in bug reports about stealth not breaking with gathering. It was a good change and not a nerf.
The rest of this is people that dont know the class or skills making assumptions based on poor information.
I'm coming at it from the lens of ranger camo, which caught the same change intentionally or not. It feels weird that I can't get off a gather in stealth, but I can cast snipe. Granted when we do it, there's a one minute cooldown.
At least there's supposed to be I think. Most of the time unless you break camo with combat you can use it again even if its visually on cooldown.
Yeah it is weird that you can snipe but not gather. Rogue stealth can be recast as long as you are still stealth (we have a timer on ours, not sure if you do or not) if stealth breaks for whatever reason (we get hit or start combat) then we have a cool down before being able to go back into stealth unless we use smoke bomb which resets the cooldown and breaks line of sight to restealth.
our recast also helps us build advantage (needed for skills) before a fight
I think ranger's camo isn't functioning properly based on the tooltip. We aren't supposed to have that window of time to re-enter camo.
I'ma put together a bug report about it I suppose
This is one of the reasons I've been like what does everyone MEAN rogue stealth is broken lol. I guess yours works a lot differently in general though
Cleric remains the OP dark horse that avoids all nerf bats
…though we do have a few annoying bugs that are pretty egregious and been there since day 1 phase 1
Wings of Salvation still the coolest skill in game
Condemn -> Divine Flare -> Judgment -> Smite = PvP wombo combo
Any weapon that causes shaken status means judgement heals u too. It’s gucci
I think its just because books chain to 3 mobs so they give you easy aoe
I use books on clerics all the time
Books + scepter/focus = mag speed and heal crits
Thats my setup on summoner
Frankly, people just don’t have a fkng clue/don’t pay attention to what other stats do
It’s power>all
admittedly i'm looking into swapping my melee to greatsword but its the same stats. Just less gear to replace than scepter/focus
and I don't need that shaken status
I was looking into mag daggers or shortbow..just quickly checking because they give speed and that seems nice
Different strokes, but also what does the weapon combos do for your class? Book is great for the burning on my cleric, etc.
shortbow is awesome for single target, I use it on my ranger
I just can’t find a good resource on how the speed # translate to gameplay
You can hover over it in your “C” menu. It makes your spell casts faster
you can think of it like haste in other games I believe, I've noticed the cast time adjusts on the tooltips so you can kinda see what you're getting.
Unsure if it affects the tick speed on hots or dots though if anyone has knowledge there
Cleric has some long ass spell casts(tho divine infusion does help)
Another dumb question probably but if you have speed your melee weapon do you get the speed while using a book?
Shortbow is good, though, if you run builds like bard that have skills that act off ‘finishers’, because you’ll want to have more finishers more quickly
All weapons are just stat sticks, only thing that changes with weapon swap is finishers and weapon combo
I am using mage. At lvl 10 1/2. finally made some G so debating weapons. I had the Wanderer sceptar that I can’t repair
My big glaring question right now is how our character's stats translate to our summoner pet's stats if they do at all.
And I made a Wayward Spellbook or something that been okay. But the sceptar I have is like -200 of what I had.
Debating longbow, shortbow, wand, spellbook.. seems like people like Longbow for mage
So your speed is the same if your melee has it while you’re casting with your ranged
As a mage, your melee weapon is ‘meh;, because you’re way too goddamned squishy to use melee. If you need aoe, use your spells. For weapons, go with wand/focus + 2h weapon melee with most power. Wand has great elemental bonus that can stack chilled/volatile/etc for your spell combos
All gear, including weapons, go into your total stat pool. The tooltip on weapons are just showing you what that weapon provides, but swapping weapons doesn’t reduce your total power or anything. Only thing that changes with weapon swap are weapon combos/weapon skills
Yeah.. I’m mostly thinking stats. Looking on AOC planner looks like daggers have the best speed at this level. So that’s what I was kind of wondering. Seems like just going most stats two hander is best
That said, certain weapons attack faster than other(you’ll usually see their power reflected I that, like swords have lower power than a scepter/mace)
Ah okay.
Again, speed is great if you’re trying to stack weapon finishers for some reason. That said, I try to match my weapon’s final tree combos with my class, I.e. book/wand can cause burning allowing me to use smite for conflagration
It’s an integral part of my combo
Or how the spell Judgement heals the caster if the enemy has shaken, but clerics have no innate way to debuff with shaken, so finding a weapon that causes it is ideal
Great info!
Any time!
If I end up rolling a cleric in heavy armor I just want you to know its your fault lmfao
I’m low-key cleric fanatic
Smite is Cleric though right? I’m not seeing it anywhere on mage
If you do, save all your zinc. Default available JM armorsmith gear “Graveplate” set is one of the only heavy in game with INT and healing power stats. Super duper fun. Can also add the magical spell shields whenever they release Cleric/Tank
Just remember that mag power increases healing power by a portion, but healing power doesn’t increase mag power. I say that because If u focus on ONLY healing power, your damaging spells will be ass
Smite is cleric, yes, but a wand can also cause chilled. You can use this to throw the ice cone spell and setup a quick shatter combo
Lots of different ways to use it
Wand/book sets up basically whatever mage combo you want it to
All 3 have a combo
Wand is slightly better for setting up elemental wombos, but book has perfect timing and echo which can be amazing if used with correct spells
Echo making lightning bolt hit twice is absolute mayhem
Or perfect timing on the elemental blast or lava spell
Yeah wand seems better on mage since you're inherently cleaving via elemental empowerment
Mhm
I’m also an Arcane Engineer and sell adept weapons on my server, so this is lowkey social marketing scheme, lolol
Shol? I’m shopping hard lol
I’m only lvl 10 but I’m just trying to not waste what little gold I have
I already have a spellbook that’s like 690 mag power that I can repair
I’m looking for a guide on what weapons exist now, hard to shop without know what there is to look for
Hard to tell what I can actually equip also
I think I have it figured it out. I can use up to but not including radiant. I think
Correct
Guys. I am trying to decide if to main bard or mage. I do not have a group i run with. So I am casual and mostly solo.
Bard seems to have better sustain but much less damage. Am I right ?
Mage will have a hard time soloing effectively. Bard can solo very well and find a group is very easy.. so you'll find friends in game faster. Every group wants 1/2 bards
It is not hard to solo as a mage
Bards can solo vastly more
I can't see my jaunty bard hat on my character, even with show helmet on... I go solo now because I'm too ashamed to group up... sniff
Excuse me, where can I catch this?
break tanks and go on vacation
That wasnt the question.
I've mained bard in every phase in alpha two and I feel like a change of pace. Is rogue fun?
Guys for fighter is it better to use shortbow or longbow?
Longbow will get finisher effects off more but short bow doesn't slow you while attacking as much
generelly longbow but you can use shortbow to stack momentum faster
Does tank have any respectable dmg to solo/duo farm? or its pure meat for party play?
Tank is great for solo farm, atleast as much as ive played up to 10 on him, he can do respectable aoe dmg or focus on single target
Im thinking about swaping from fighter to tank for obv reason of party play, but idk if i will be able to solo with him as much as i could with fighter (got it to lvl 8)
ive had no issues with any of the classes solo, but i found thatr fighter was the one i had to rest the most on
Hmm sounds good then, gonna give it a go
nowhere nearly as good as fighter but still fine and you will find grps in no time anyway
One more question, shield+longsword and longbow on scd is the way to go for tank?
or mby mace instead of longswrod?
do weapon choices even really matter for bard, as long as it gives mag dmg
its all about the stats in the end, so it doesnt matter though shields have block rating so thats preffered
for pvp you want longbow as ranged tho
not rly but as for ranged weapon shortbow or wand for pvp
What about GS
does the shield will give me much tankyness?
depends on the stats on the shield really
Im looking at early progression right now so i guess i will take the GS from the destiny rewards
purely for early dmg
id do the same
hey guys, what is a better weapon for summoner, wand or spellbook and why? or some other ranged? I am levelling arcane engineering so I am biased to "magic" weapons 🙂
talk to the warehouse dealer in town, there are three tabs, one of them is for crates
no worries, you're welcome. Yeah, sometimes it shows, sometimes it doesn't sometimes I need to talk to all four clerks before even the basic warehouse window pops up
Can anyone please please explain how weapons affect your damage in this game.
For example as Bard I can use magic shortbow that has super fast rate of fire or spellbook that has real slow rate of fire. If both list same mag power , does it mean that shortbow does way more damage ? Mag power = damage per attack / faster attack more damage ?
Now lets take mage that says 100% damage added on finishers. 100% damage of what ? 100% of weapon ?
That would make weapons that shoot fast do less damage with finisher ?
This is all very confusing
I havent researched it, but all damage values are shown in % of power. If you open the character screen and open the magical dropdown it will show your actual Mag Power, it is a much smaller number than the power of the weapon, because the weapon power is converted by some formula. But my understanding is that this character sheet "Power" is then used in the damage calculations when the attack or skill description shows :150% damage dealt
This roughly tracks with my spellbook autos dealing around 60 damage when attacking and it says 60% damage, and I have 95 power on the character sheet
Hmmm
I will have to test this ...
mm... no idea tbh 🙂 I would wager you usually want to deliver those to your town of citizenship, in which case you can click N on keyboard to opent your town window and check buildings for that
yeah, do that 🙂 this is just my obesrvation, though I have not been paying close attention or anything
definitly never did the math on this lol
yeah, maybe?
sorry, I'm a fresh player as well so just hrowing things out there 😄
many systems are unclear and complicated math which makes it more confusing, your attacks % is of the stat chown on character screen but the number in character screen is more an average of pieces combined as both weapons contibute to your power rating but work like an average so one weapons with 1000 mag power and one at 100 this will effect your power rating rather then 2 at 1000 if that makes sense, i know its complicated math and system and thats simpliest i can find to explain
Did any summoners notice that the skill-changing issue when changing summons got worse after yesterdays update?
I used to be able to summon my desired pet twice and the 2nd time I would usually get the correct skills, sometimes having to dismiss then summon.
Today I am perma stuck on mystic skills, no matter how many times I resummon, dismiss, respec, ect.
I do know I can manually rebind that bar but I shouldn't have too.
And even worse, manually rebinding it keeps it locked to whatever I had it set to, so I'd have to change all 3 skills anytime I want to change pets
ranger disengage and air strike should boost evasion like dodge does :p
How is mage to play in ashes? I like my fighter but I’ve never really done a caster in mmos and they look flashy. Difficult to play?
I've heard mage is one of the easier ones
cant mages just wear medium intel armor though like rogues
So you get both def
yeah rogues also die in 2 hits
No they dont
wtf are you doing outside of garbage extraction game discords btw
get back in the legacycord
😂
fording my gron
25% pdr is very little in this game, you're right rogues are not as squishy because of their skills but mage is generally insta dead if they misuse blink
Yeah im sure im just saying I had 14% or something in initiate stuff and I feel way tankier now even vs mobs
phys classes have access to ashen haunt set early on which gives them a large hp boost
Def makes a difference
honestly phys classes are spoonfed in terms of gearing
hawk bow, fleshripper, ashen haunt
What im saying is though I think light armor on mage is a trap and terrible
If you have full adept medium at like lvl 11-15 mages can still take some hits but if youre getting hit as a mage gg anyways
But it depends cause mages do hit hard as well
plate mage with a shield is sleeper
Rangers probably give mages the hardest time atm I think maybe rogues too but if you have light armor vs a ranger you're just dead I think
I dont play mage so idk..rogue has a lot of cc and gap closers to mitigate more but yeah its still squishy
Hardest matchup on rogue for me atm has been tanks lol
Yeah tank is a strong match against rogue
Block block block block block dead
tbf its their immunities that are hard to deal with
bard is always ur answer
like bard sustain is just dumb...
fighter wins all
im slowly getting like actual gear togehter, i just run around with the healing melody on and i hardly ever die.
-laughs in bard speed-
-laughs in crit-
xD clearly never touched a bard in pvp
clearly ive never died to a bard in pvp...
like 24 seconds of CC + movespeed + low gravit + 3 dashes.
I dont think they do a lot of damage over all. Certainly not big burst damage like mage, rogue etc... But the sustain is crazy. They autoheal like there is no tomorrow
on a serious note..if you can micro manage all that while a fighter is in your face then good on you. most cant.
you should take some time and look at dps bards man. its scary
i do more dmg on the fighter than backstab crits on the rogue lol they are insane
BTW I was more talking about PVE. In PVP solo I am happy with being able to run away fast 😄
rogue is in a bad way from what ive read
its terrible unless you are playing it to gank a dude and then bounce...it plays like a rogue should i think.
fighter ill hard charge at anyone lol if you have a friend or 2 all the merrier
I mean rogue should not be able to take done fighter in fair fight. That would be bad design\
if you surprise him and get a nice backstab crit you can easily kill anyone
id consider it bad design if an above averge player of any class cant solo an average player of any other class
plus rogue should have fair fights. its not how you are suppose to play it lol so you cant really use "fair" as an assessment in any situation for a rogue.
shouldnt"
Not at all
Rogue should be able to win if it outplays
Face to face damage trade? No
And rogue can beat fighter if it gets a solid opener
Tanks are way harder to fight as rogue than fighters
They're invincible
What are a good weapon choices for summoner? what I think is the disable power, what can be found on 2h magic axes and books
Not really. I mean if rogue gets very solid opener, and jumps a fighter 100% unprepared yes.
But if its 1 vs 1 fight like duel for example. or fighter expecting attack and ready for fight. And of course they are both matched skill levels. - Fighter should win
Otherwise its bad design. It would mean that Rogue > everything else.
Its supposed to be paper rock scissors : magic > fighter > rogue > magic ( for example )
Good weapons for cleric for pve/pvp?
nah. still in a duel rogue starts from stealth anyways, so yes like i said if rogue gets an opener and outplays the rest of the fight, rogue should win
you think in a duel rogue runs into a fighters face? 😂
Not at all. But you think fighter should be helpless to a rogue ?
didnt say that
i already said, if rogue gets the jump on fighter and outplays him, he should win
if rogue gets the jump and blows cooldowns or messes up, yes he should lose
Outplays being key word. A more skilled player should be able to win any matchup with less skilled player. But we are talking about same skill level
I said outplayed a while back
But everyone can be outplayed. Bard can outplay rogue ... right ?
If rogue messes up his timing and his cooldowns are blown.
I guess?
Well whats the point of the statement. A comparison is only valid if we are comparing two equals
I just disagreed with "rogue shouldnt be able to kill fighter in a fair fight" thats it
if rogue doesnt have a good engage or plan then yeah he'll fold
im not sure what their plan is with global cooldown or whatever anyways cause right now it's not that skillbased since you can just button mash everything almost at once
combat is really fast
which i guess can be ok since it's easier to screw up combos but it seems a bit weird in fights
hard to track anything
i know im joining a topic half way in discussion but you wnt talk balance then my issue is what other class has escape tools like rogue does?
Both mage and bard have skill that puts everyone to sleep , plus they have blink/dash skill - so they are pretty hard to catch over all
so you believe a momentary sleep and blink where person watches you leave and can chase you down is equal to a press 2 buttons and the fights over
They will have hard time chasing you down
i know mage has a big blink (not sure how many) and bard mobility is crazy
tank has 1 dash? maybe more idk
rogue mobility is good, bard is also good
rogue can also incap for 10 seconds but needs to be 8m away
can be tough to get off
Rogue has that hook thing. How does that work ?
you press it once, little aoe circle, press it again and it grapples to that point, it's really good
goes hella far 😂
and you can get 2
I should really try to lvl up a rogue alt
so we debating a little bit extra move speed(Bard), a mobility skill like blink9mage) is equal tool kit to incap + mobility skill + just stealth and leave
Ranger, Hi!
oh yeah bard gets ms too
if its uphill angles rock they will slide up but and type ledge will stop bard and have vault
That makes sense
if you want maximum escape potential, go rogue
tldr
thats my point i find rogue to have to much fight dictation power
well, it has 0 heals, buffs, self sustain
it dies quite easily
you can see them in stealth if you're close enough
and bard can easily unstealth a rogue
smokebomb->fighter
close enough and facing them but any decent rouge flips over you to not be line sight stealth and you then have guess pixel perfect what direction they moved
if a rogue grapples+stealths, bard can dash literally right to them
if they're quick enough
well yeah..but if they're escaping they're also not fighting, so
CC fighter to get his momemtum depleted, go finish off, gg.
thats exactly my point they start from stealth choosing opportune moment to have advantage in the fight, they have decent damage to hurt someone in a fight and if fight doesnt go their way they have ability to just leave, yes they arent fighting but they also arent dying
chase them
my fighter in heroic/epic SB gear and leg weapons "one shot" few times by a rogue... last phase
what class seems best for pvp, like 1 on 1?
rogue
interesting, that would be my assumption as well.. since y'know. They have to be good at something Lol
they quite op
Is it me or is the summoner, as we are now, paying a very hefty hybrid tax?
prob just you
Possible. Just doesn't seem like they have anything usefull unique to them. They are just healers from temu, or tank from temu, if you can't get one. Unlike say, bard who provides unique buffs.
Their versatility is what they’re good for. But also lots of class balance still to come so don’t worry about some that are op right now. They will see the nerf bat.
they have a shit ton of utility
for ranger is shortbow or longbow
Aldo though Summoner is supposed to play in a party with tank and healer and help out where needed. So like tough mob or bad pull they make it easier. Or allow a party to pull more or chain pull whatever. Support not replacement.
So yea if your party has no cleric best you can do is off heal temu cleric style lol that’s intended
Pretty sure the idea was that it would be viable, if not optimal, to have a summoner replace a tank, based on party composition, I believe that was the exact quote. Still you can't just have versitality as a sale figure of an archetype. If you don't have anything unique why bring a summoner at all? Just bring competent tanks and clerics no?
See I've seen this work for spot heals but I have literally never seen a hybrid class work as "the spot-tank" outside of a raid environment where said hybrid class has specifically geared to do so.
Also, doesn't the inclusion of 2nd archetypes down the line sort of negate being "the hybrid"? What happens when the rogue just goes rogue/tank? Is every class just "the hybrid"?
Thinking you should be able to rep a real tank, real dps, real cleric is wild. You want to be the best at everything lol? Utility and flexibility comes at a cost.
I would much rather see Summoner fill another niche besides this dancing between the roles nonsense. Like if we became the debuff/control class or something.
i mean you have a niche, the pet class.
That's not a group role though. That's like saying bard is "the music class!"
rogue/tank would still be a dps class. The main archetype is supposed to define your role and that won't change
Hello! Is there a place to find some updated standard builds to follow? I'm new at the game and would like to find something for fighters to start
I mean the skills and weapon points to get
I suppose summoners have a lot of cc if that counts for something? Tank pet on full essence has 3sec trip, you have a snare, aoe silence, aoe stun on your pet, complitely shutting down a single character with the exhaust ray?
Those are hard to come by, the situation is too fluid to make proper guides and standard builds
Yeah i feel the game have a lot of options, thats why would be useful to have something as reference
How can you tho, you start making such guides and they are outdated by next month 😛
Thats true, its annoying to try do something when the game change its so often
I agree and I'd love to see intrepid lean more into this rather than the tank/dps/healer thing.
The healer pet has an off cooldown off character dispel that works on any debuff. This is also a huge utility people overlook. This is effectively self cc removal if it works like the tooltip says and you position the pet well. Warlock in WoW classic has the same thing on his felhunter pet and its a primary reason he's taken in competitive pvp settings like battlegrounds.
I haven't even managed to get that to dispell poison from the scorpids tho 😛
Guys as Bard. Does anyone knows what causes you to suddenly and seemingly randomly stop channeling melody ?
esc button.... I think
No. I mean for example I cast Menacing melody. And even before the full channel is finished I notice the effect just stopped. The aura animation is still present though, but the effect itself is removed.
It happens randomly, but in areas witl lot of people happens more often.
Are there any place/biome which is better for consistent caster loot?
Server lag and crossing through server workers breaks a lot of bards stuff
Just happens so randomly
has anyone made tank viable with a 2h weapon
Hey fam! Wondering if anybody has tried tank with a 2h? Thinking it may be viable. I wonder if I can hotkey shield to swap if needed.
For the rogues out there, what type of melee weapon do you use?
I’ve been using Daggers, but I’ve been considering swapping to a spear. Both have .5 second attacks in combos, but the dagger has 6 attacks (3 seconds total) and spear has 4 attacks (2seconds total), so it would refresh flurry more often.
Also since poison only applies on 3 specific hits in a combo, you’re not missing any poison procs.
Anyone test out spear on rogue?
😄 we are the musical class
@unique zinc @covert lynx 2h tank for solo and small group stuff can be done but better suited for when solo and 1v1 mobs as group content gunna wanna pull many mobs and shield does have better stats and use for blocking big hits then 2h sword does.. its not unviable but its less efficient and harder to pull off.
and no cj you cant keybind and hotswap weapons unfortunatly
is there a way to reset your experience level in a specific weapon? I don't mean resetting spent skill points, I mean returning to 0 exp so you can level that weapon up from the start again
just met a dude in sb level 18tank using a 2h pulling like 8 bears, tis doable
I dont believe so
i did say isnt unviable just less effecient and harder
Bears are super easy as a 2h tank since you can dodge all the big hits no problem. I guess the true viability test would be a named enemy that is immune to cc and does multiple big hits within a 15 second window?
I actually question how much a shield really helps mitigate damage considering you still have reflect and grit and most enemies spend a good chunk of the time disabled (tripped).
yeah im trying to figure out how useful shields actually are
because if theyre just eh id rather use a 2h for much more damage
from what I noticed...mitigation wise is only tiny % off... but block is 0 which means no random blocks, only manual. so depends on how good you are at seeing incoming attacks and dodging or blocking
What do you mean block is 0?
Thanks so much for the response @mint slate
@unique zinc exaxtly, I want to test out mitigation with a 2h guard vs a shield. Also we have to factor in the lack of shield abilities for the tank archetype
you can use all shield abilities without one
Omg noooo way!!
yeah, you don't need a shield to use the abilities. Block % is zero without shield. Press C for character and open the physical tab and you'll see block %
2h could be very viable im ngl
Is block % just for physical attacks?
yes, but you can still manually block. But the random blocks that happen with shield, won't happen without
Well I realized that damage actually gets a threat bonus on tanks so it's not useless for pulling aggro
Gotcha. Hmmm. That makes sense. I wonder how high block % can get end game
The last part of the block stamina tree applies 1/4 your block of each type to the other type so presumably you can block magic
i stopped on my tank at 9 so no clue on % at 25.
I wonder if there's any way to life steal as a tank, may help improve the effective hp
lvl 20 im at 21%
21% chance to block is decent, how much % mitigation? I think it scales off strength in addition to your shield?
21% is decent but also not a "must have" imo
That's like blocking 1 in 5 hits. Now if it were 1 of 2 hits or better that would be pretty insane
Looks like block reduction without a shield is 10% and reflect increases that to 40% for a hit
I thought block % was 0 without a shield
And looks like it doesnt scale with any stat, the wiki lied to me
it's 0% chance to passively block, but if you do block manually it reduces the damage by 10%
Oh. That sucks lol. Well. At least there's reflect?
It looks like the temp hp weapon node (ward) gives 5% block chance even on the 2h, though I have not seen it actually work so maybe it's a display thing
The stamina tree also mentions increasing block reduction while guarding in the passives, though it says 5% and the char sheet shows 4.5%
And reflect brings me up to 37% in the char sheet instead of 40%
Hmmmm. Good research @jaunty brook I'll have to test it out
I use a spear currently. I would say without looking at numbers and math I feel like I stack poison faster with daggers than I do with the spear.
Damn tested stuff out, 2H tank is great I think and you can actually swap shield on hotbar, just have to swap a 1h first
all the rouges i see are uding 2 handed swords, they keep jumping me
2H is great for crit
cuz 2h swrod and 2h axe are best mele weapons atm.
i know
i mean fuck my bard is rocking a 2h axe...
What do we think of the 2h spear
idk what do we think
how is fighter overall atm?
good
are daggers just bad?
O.o
What did i just read the last 12 lines.
No daggers aren't bad, sure swords and axes are cool. Yes spears are cool to
And swords give attack speed not crit. No idea what that guy was smoking
I know axes are highly popular due to later tree having twin base damage increases that other weapons don't have but I do agree every weapon has place and viability and is more a use/play style choice rather then a clear one is better then the other answer
This works. Ive used it before. Gives you passive block even without a shield. The damage reduction is pretty limited though.
I dont disagree axes are pretty cool. That base damage however is not your overall damage. It is your "base" damage. Its under miscellaneous in the paper doll.
Nothing in the weapon trees are really make or break kinds of things. Just playstyles and what you prefer.
That base damage you get as well requires you to go through full auto attack chains. Your not doing that when your bursting someone down
generelly yes have their stat spread is not as good
for ranged weapon there absolutely is
Do tell
look at bullseye
its broken, idk how thats still not nerfed
Why do you think its broken?
have you read it?
Yep
then what does it do
Really dude im asking why you think its broken not a triva game
If you can't give a reason off hand than just shut it
its pretty self explanatory, if you cant figure that out then idk what to tell you
sorry you are bad?
when did i say that
If bullseye is broken then more people would be using daggers, spears and rapiers rather than greatswods
Hahaha ha I can post a face
You going to give your grand wisdom yet?
Yeah who cares about melee weapons....
Who cares about armor or jewelry either
im not teaching people who arent willing to learn
You know im not even going to wait for the response. Just going to block you instead. Your posts are always annoying and bullshit
sorry that ur salty that i showed ur not good at the game, its ok to be bad though i wouldt spread misinformation
why do tablet kids feel the need to rage bait, how about instead of tearing people down, build them up
the world needs more of it, instead of the chidlish immature ragebaiting
Any new summoner tips? which skills are worth it? Dimenson bolt wont let me TP my spirit for some reason
Gotta press the skill again after it hits enemy
so does fighter still sucks?
Ive been playing it and its not bad, but the ability trees feel strange to me
what annoys me is having no indication when you " move up" a tier
yeah i agree
i also dont know why theres no use of stamina bar- i was expecting that when i picked fighter lol
ig for dodging and blocking but i thought there would be stam abilities
they said they fixed the summoner hotbor issue but it still happens, before it would get fixed after 3 summons, how do we fix now?
stamina applies for every class the same, you have your class resources for individual class resource
aka momentum
I feel like cleric purify needs to allow like 0.5 seconds of debuff immunity
trying to hope a zombie doesnt instant reapply healing debuff is stupid
theres no point until they move out of the puddle
It's not just the puddle. Zombies apply the debuff on every melee hit as well
you mean wounded
yea though ideally you have asummoner pet to cleanse these if you really need to
No. Not wounded. They apply the debuff that prevents healing on every melee hit they do
It might be only level 20 and above zombies that do. Not sure on that
But clerics and bards can generally cleanse quick enough and get heals through.
is that caph mobs, i wouldt know any other zombies who does that
i was never much in caph
Carph and gravepeak should. But really any zombie, not thermaturge(however you spell that). Regular zombies will spit and melee, the others spit, life steal, and the blast thing that doesn't do any damage still
should i be crafting my own gear or buying from marketplace? I'm level 18 tank with 3400 hp, looking to increase my HP
You're probably good until level 20, then you'll have access to much better gear
some guy said i should have 4900 hp at level 18
but i asked other tanks around my level and everyones around 3500
is that guy full of shit or what
Probably. My main tank didn't hit 5k till after 20 I believe. But we are also a strong group together. If you're doing pugs it might be worth getting a better piece. I just think hitting 20 first should be priority at this point though
what armor should I focus for fighter?
@covert shoal there really aren't builds. My favorite late game combination has been 3/5 heavy/light of sandbastion/cognesente
turns out, if everyone just blocks the guy, they will just leave on their own to do it elsewhere.
Cleric, Bard, summoner, ranger regen
Not currently. They turned that on but somehow bugged all health in the game doing so, so they turned it back off
I generally heal mounts when I see them. Unless it's a mule so can steal your crate
i got 4300 at 18, mostly common heavy pieces with cons
Question; I'm a mage. Lets say i want to use medium armor; there are some Intellegence/Wisdom focused medium sets with Mag Crit bonuses and such. Assuming i have access to these armors, is there a good reason to still go light? (Is there an inherent damage buff or smth? Or should i just go medium int sets? Do I lose out on damage?)
nope set bonuses are all listed.
So i can safely wear medium int armor and not lose out on damage yes?
Then is there any reason for anyone to wear light armor?
that is correct
sure all the sub stats are different. light also give you a bunch of magic defense
med and heavy magic armors are pretty limited but there are some
Can an experienced Bard help me please?
I am level 13 and it says i could use the "Saga" skill but whenever i go to put a skillpoint in it, it wont let me confirm and save the tree...
I tried this with any of the skills below (Conflict/Mystery etc.) even with 2, i thought maybe it need 2 of those but no it wont let me.
Even if I was stupid and didnt see something, it doesnt tell me WHY this is, I'm sorry if this is a dumb question.
nvm i figured it out... i really can't build any of the mastery skills at the same time as saga?? wtf
does anyone eles have this issue where extract vessel keeps being casted on its own? when u press it only once
Are rapiers any good on a rogue? They seems to have far less stats that the other weapons.
anyone got a sick tank build for solo lvling 9 and onwards? xD
make sure you report via /bug in game if you can't figure this out
You'll get some good mileage from using the 100% crit on punish and the snaring from bellow, throw 2 hander into the mix with high con and the 50% extra HP from vengeance you should be good to go
right now Im using shortbow as main dmg weapon, when they get close I trip them then pulverize, then the 3 hit stun, walk around and throw axe in the back, and finish off with shortbow ¨
I wonder if there is a better more efficient way
and more sustainable manawise
have mana proc on finishers
Interesting, not tried the ranged stuff. Melee tends to have a lot more AoE rather than single target
yeah I like the AoE, but I ahve to sit and rest to do that
my adhd does not like that xD
Fair enough, maybe someone a bit more experienced can help fine-tune
maybe I just need to find a better spot, with like lvl 7 mobs, right now I tried the AoE on lvl 9 creepers and Im lvl 9
I kill 2 pulls of 5 each, Im almost dead that after ^^ then use rations and wait for respawn
Couldn't hurt to try
Just need an off hand with them and it should do fine
So I just started playing fighter and wondered how viable it is to build attack speed outside of using the greatsword for the 3proc finisher and trying to get as many cd resets on the brutal cleave and the base slash skill as possible
yeah you could do that
while lvling difficult to "build" around that and furthermore not particular worth it though that being sad phys speed is a good stat on fighter but i wouldt worry about it much til you reached lvl 25 and building your endgoal set
or one of them if you are that committed
if ur lvling in a grp and have swordmasters buff or whatever its called unlocked that gives phs speed, try that right before you ww and see the dmg difference its significant in pvp however not very useful
i wanted to play the alpha (last one i did was lapha 1 as tank) and was considering summoner. How is summoner in term,s of finding froups or should I stick with tank
tank is far superior to find grps with for obv reasons
mmhm i see then tnak summomner is deadd in the water?
perhaps whe n2nd archetypes are out itll be more viable?
its not "dead" but it wont be able to replace a tank in grp content
with second archtype maybe? doubt it though esp since ur tied to pet AI
and pet cant dodge certain abilities that are very hard hitting
so i wouldt count on that
How about tank class? Is it interactie where you can parry attacks or is it jsut jump in and get stuck in.
No Parry, but you should be blocking attacks more than you think
Especially those charged up attacks enemies do.
You can also avoid the charge attacks by moving to the side or backward for most of them, no need to block
Well, most of them anyway
I think subclasses will end up being a meme
Tank is quite fun if you enjoy a little bit of hectic battling, blocking and dodging becomes a luxury when you're tanking groups. Its impossible to see the wind up on all of them
Not to mention dodging throws off positioning of your melee, good if you're solo though. The biggest gripes so far is why Grit is a 20 sec buff not a passive baked in to the class and why reflect isn't tied to the block mechanic
sadly, this is likely to be true
how does respecing work? is it free whenever to reset talents? can you sav e tlanet loadouts?
Its free so far, no save function either but you can remove individual picks by right clicking
gotcha gotcha thanks
and last quesiton, as summoner cnayou summon 2 lads temporarly?
not rn
i dont think u will never be able to summon multiple ones. maybe some that count as one entity
Do you guys think that the Classes will receive some major overhoul addressing the new feedbacks after the Steam release, or do you think that the Core of the Classes are definitive?
expect all classes beside bard, rogue, summoner to get some changes of sorts
Its probably not unreasonable to see some small tweaks at least, I imagine
why not those 3 in particular?
Think they were the latest additions
yea they are fairly more fleshed out than the other classes
people also call them the bucky classes
Bucky classes?
I tried all classes (aside from Cleric and Mage) , and I feel like the Fighter could use some major changes, and the Tank and Ranger, some more little changes on many abilities,
also i feel like the Rouge and the Bard are the more polished one
the guy who made bard and rogue, pretty sure summoner too
Ah, makes sense. Thought it might've been some kind of reference so had to check
idk what to run for my summoner
as i was gonna run plate armor as i had a lore idea for a valune character
Does the summoner hunter pet damage scale with magic power or physical power?
cause auto attacking for 30 makes me think its not scaling with magic power
This is alpha, you should consider just about everything as subject to change.
I'm almost 22 on my Summoner, and I'm thinking I want to reroll.
The class just has minimal damage... the pet AI, ui, skills, stats are subpar.
The channeled silence and the remove buffs is the only redeeming things.... and silence is too short imo.
Like MAYBE MAYYYBE I could get behind it if more of the abilities were instant casts and not channeled.... and had longer timers.
Summoner is SO bad. That's what I played first but yeah i tried out other stuff and it's much better
This makes me what to play it to try it out
I rerolled to fighter my summoner just goes fishing now
what is best wep to use as tank?
Well thats sad, im only lvl 13 on my summ, but i feel he is doing great, i can solo like a beast, i frequently pull aggro, and get it if the tank dies so i feel dmg wise im doing decent, and i can help heal the tank and party so it gives me extra purpose... maybe all that changes later levels which might just be a scaling issue
does rogue only want dex? or str will also be very good for rogue?
str increases your damage, so you probably want that
is there a "best" 2h weapon for tanks in pvp?
Prolly goblin skin stripper for now with its raw damage and speed on it
Plus disable accuracy is good for tanks
Str has better damage scaling although dex has some damage increase. Dex also affects evasion and critical chance.
Preface:
I plan on writing a cleric guide in the next few weeks, but thought I would share a piece of it here
Are u able to get your 2nd archetype in this version of the alpha? And if so - which should I go for as bard? 🙂
//
Background: someone had sent me a dm with some questions about Clerics, how they work, and stats/weapons
(No, not yet, but maybe in April/May)
ok, thanks!
They need to buff sniper little more that’s what given for Ranger. I don’t have endgame gear in this new stage yet almost there but 2-5% increase
Will primary archetypes keep getting abilities up to 50, or is the current ability list from 1-25 what we're getting
Nm was answered in general, the answer is yes abilities up to 50
Any tanks having issues right now with pulling mobs? I've played for a year with a duo cleric and I would pull mobs with grapple and taunt and I could easily just grab one mob to farm. Now, no matter what I do, every time I taunt/grapple I will pull every mob in a group and aggro all of them. Not sure if I have something selected I don't realise or a weapon passive but its really frustrating :1
With full essence it works consistently to triple stomp. Trying with Disintegrate snare, I'd have to look at the timing. My guess is lag. But it's hard to tell cause I don't think the trip says trip, you have to watch the animations.
any up to date Bard guides?
skill trees will all get reworked so it goes up to 50
I only started playing with Early Access, but every group of mobs I pull as tank are leashed together. It is rare for me to find mobs together that I can solo pull.
they can, but i'm sure it depends on the mob. i have tripped bears for example, but maybe some are immune. like i tried suppression beam on senna giants and they were immune
There's no way there will be 50 abilities per class, unless that includes both archetypes
Which would still be insane
i think they mean the trees will go to level 50 and there wont be two sets skills per say from what ive heard subclass with augment the main class skills rather then just being a second tree of skills
50 skill points, already has been previed, think of wow old skill trees but 1 tree
I'd imagine the current ones would just be spread out to level 50, not that many total abilities
There wont be 50 abilities
yeah this
Ur the only one said 50 abilities
the skill trees i believe will have passives eventually to so that may be how they fluff current abilities spread out over 50 levels
If you look hard enough they showed how cleric skill tree looks like
You can put multible points into one talent and such
Thought you meant up to 50 as in abilities nvm
Literally how wow did it in 2004
sort of? Their last plan on that when they showed it off was you get ability and passive points through different leveling mechanisms, and can assign them as you like.
Probably gonna be a lot more passive abilities/options added up to level 50, and not too many more skills beyond just the augments from secondary classes.
nah still here
Discord changed the way they do tags, and made it much harder unless you actually pay them for it specifically, and we largely don't give a fuck enough to pay them
thats why you don't see NEARLY as many tags in here anymore
huh
Used to be you just get it at the boost tier. Now you have to pay for 3 separate boosts for the tag, and 3 separate boosts for the animated shit, and 3 separate boosts for the other shit
Didn’t that say you’ll get 40-60 abilities per class and only have enough points to take 10-20 depending on how you spec?
It may have changed but that was the idea to have different builds and force choices just with the primary archetype?
as far as i know the current skill tree represents "all" of the skills available.
When class augments will be introduced I guess there'll be more options on the skill tree (But I don't think that new skills will be added, but "modified" skills / passive based on the second class you picked)
Will the second class be picked at character creation or will it be picked at a certain level
lvl 25 when added I believe
hello guys, got a question, what type of armor to use as a Fighter? do i go Medium or Heavy?
Level 30 is what's been stated
It's pretty poorly explained, tbh
According to the "Lore" if you will. What class/Archetype goes with what Race.
Augments add other skills and pathways. Ultimately, once we hit level 50, we're not supposed to be able to unlock every ability. There's supposed to be some kind of opportunity cost to your skill choices(as there should be)
Are there any racial bonuses?
No
It was something that they had planned on having at one point, but have since stated that Race choice will only have visual differences
Sweet, thank you
Can you advice me on a Class? I read the Bard is the main go-to
I will play solo for the time being, looking to be sustainable.
Bard is a solid choice all around
Is there a bard discord?
No, theres also no need for class discords
Classes are straightforward for the most part
Look up whoisroxis on yt if you wanna learn about bard, he has a guide
where i can read how my mag and psyh def scales with my summons? more detailed?
guys whats BiS great axe phys
no one has done the theorycraft, to my knowledge at least publicly
any good radiant set suggestions for mage ?
are daggers viable on fighter or are axes better
I would like class channels in this Discord
Not a fan of separate class Discords though
Class just came out so people are still figuring that stuff out but also many will keep it in Guild and not share info.
you could make one
but i know community discords from wow were very aids
big sesspool too
everyone had to do their own server because they needed to be in power
Guys what you think is better +6% crit chance, or 4% power boost ?
Need like 190% crit power for it to be better. Or if you value the volatility for PvP more
The power boost also scales better for healers and skills that can’t crit like pensive (though 4% is unlikely to hit a breakpoint for that skill)
Clarification its for bard conflict or chaos song
So i get 9.6% crit chance with it and i have 155% crit power. On a shortbow
But as you say power improves healing ( and mana gain ) as well. So I guess that is more useful for bard...
It should be the buff adds 9% to what you currently have if you use it 2x, I haven’t peeped if they’ve changed anything in the background anyways. First instance of the book spells ads what the tooltip says. 4% power, 6% crit chance. Second cast adds 50% of that effect for 6% power, 9% crit chance.
Technically better to alternate and do 6%, 4% but I don’t think anyone min-maxes when the talents are desired in bard tree
No i think its specific skill that allows this addup
Oh no, you are right
4 goes to 6% power
What should i go first ?
If you are doing red masks use power until geared
is it just me, or are people sleeping on cathartic melody
Lifesteal has a static 25% proc chance, so whatever lifesteal it gives is 1/4thed value on average.
Plus you need to do damage for it to do anything. If you need healing the healing one does more. If you need damage the damage one does more. It’s niche in that it can do more healing than the healing one - but only focused to specific classes. The scaling on healing classes/abilities is so high, multiplying their output is usually just better / more reliable. Usually when people are dieng they aren’t also doing full damage.
Other classes are better for wounds applications also
since you are talking about bard - what stats should I be focusing on - I am only lvl 14 but am struggling with the gear aspect on what I should be focusing on stat wise
Power is the only thing that matters. Get 5 set bonuses if you can. Hp can prevent one shots / tankier but that’s it. At least 50% of the stats are useless / basically useless. Cast speed probably next for leveling like wisdom because of how many auto attacks you do
I used some phys armor while leveling because magic armor is rarer, better than empty slot
it's 12.5% lifesteal on average, so if you do 400 dps it's 50 hps, 100 when boosted. healing aura i think did 7 per tick on my lvl 12 bard.
it ticks every 2 sec, so 3.5 hps, i bet the 15% + healing is the only relevant thing there. but is even that any good.
the ones most at risk of taking damage are those that deal the most damage, so it scales with need
The only lame part about cathartic is that the resonance buffs my dmg.
it just felt like my party never lost hp when i did cathartic, so cleric had nothing to do.
It’s better to look at it from a mana power per second instead, say 125-150% mp per second for dps. So if you can sustain aoe, that’s a ton of output for lifesteal
Idk it’s definitely viable and cathartic scales up based on your aoe output. The resonance from cheerful effects should be net stronger? There’s definitely a counterpoint world where you rock both to be most optimal. I usually look at things from a raid v raid perspective, focused targets can’t do damage to lifesteal. While also being focus targeted for heals from multiple supports. Any uptime to benefit from cathartic they are getting hit back.
Leveling its mana bard and damage bard, not good to go 3x bard. Uptime is too strict to try flexing in other songs for pve.
Geared bard can solo heal though with cheerful, as long as you have a mana bard and tank is geared
I was wondering why I wasn’t thinking about cathartic more but pve there’s no room and pvp the focused targets can’t save themselves. Cheerful allows downtime sustain aplification
damage bard and mix-bard
maybe people need to get better at ability-spam. or they need to nerf mana regen effects. because most parties im in has 90%+ mana when a bard is there.
Pumper groups you can’t sustain aoe dmg past 2 mins, slowly lose mana, didn’t have weapons while leveling though
Except apprentice ones I got at 19
I also don’t play with fighters, just all the mana eater classes
pumper groups need to be using refreshing follow through for that
what adept set should i be looking for as a bard
currently have multiple sanctus stlaker pieces
If I had a dagger and greatsword with identical stats and power, would either one do more damage with abilities? Or is the damage of abilities purely based on the physical power
would be equal, but daggers will be faster so would be better ith all stats same
So then based on that logic, if spears do basically the same goal damage as daggers but in 2 seconds and not 3, they should be superior for melee right?
4 hits .5 attack speed, fastest for combos
Short bow is tied also, 5 hits .4 attack speed
Is this list accurate?
https://powerupgaming.co.uk/2025/12/19/ashes-of-creation-tier-list-best-classes-ranked/
It even lists subclasses and the like
Haven't seen any other list do that.
No
is there any place i can go to lvl from 18-20 that is not Steel Bloom? im not making any progress there.
Sunhaven aoe Grind maybe?
I see some rogues run around with 2h axe, but i cant get them to explain why 😄
I thought daggers was the go to
daggers are in a bad spot atm.
i just reached lvl 12 and bought an adept dagger. would you recommend to switch to a 2H axe ?
Three swings for bleed finisher vs 6 for dagger
For summoners: It seems like, not sure if it's a bug, your pet can still use abilities during phase out. Not sure if that helps a bit in pvp
which radiant weapons are good for mages 1 spellbook and 1 two-handed or 1 spellbook and 2 one-handed ?
Whats more fun Mage or Ranger ?
nerf fighter
belive 2h sword is actually top mele atm, followed by axe. both the same axe just slightly slower.
Anyone try shield cleric for pvp yet? Keep u from getting one shot
Ranger for me, mage is actually the least enjoyable class for me
Personal preference obv
The one that gives most stats, for pve ideally spellbool though, meele is whatever
Its not like ur giga tanky with a shield all of the sudden but yes tank stats help, clerics are usually targets
2h axe are the best meele weapons, but its all about the stats which daggers have poor distribution
Greataxe has best buffs for when you do a full combo, superior to 2h sword
@proud rampart ^
How do spears stack up?
Also is there any downside to using a ranged weapon in melee range? I’ve been using my short bow as a rogue more lately since it seems to apply poison faster
Shortbow is fastest ranged. What is fastest melee ?
Daggers
Daggers kind of suck because they have pretty much no range ( compared to swords or anything else really )
What is second best ( fastest )
Daggers and spears both have .5 attack speed, but daggers have 6 hits and spears have 4, so faster finishers
I meant how do spears stack up to axe/GS
what type of summoner build are you guys enjoying?
how about rapiers?
Does it? I swear the trees were the same
so what about armor sets any good option for radiant ?
Haven’t looked into 1h weapons because I haven’t found an offhand to pair with it
So Spears still are the best choice for bard ( and other classes that need fast attacks ? )
Only option is a focus for dps and you can just press P go to the arcane engineering tab and look at the focuses available.
Any good focuses available? I really did not see any drop
I'm sure there are for both phys power and mag power I'm only apprentice arcane engineering atm getting those recipes drops is what ill be looking for
What weapons apply something else than bleeding ( but damage ) as finishers ?
I think bleeding is less good than burning , am I right ?
Its normalised how fast each weapon combos, mostly
If you mean stack poison, then daggers and shortbow is quite bit faster
Anyone that gives most stats, people ususlly go medium since it gives armor and mr but going 5 heavy set and either 3 light or 3 medium is common to use
If you asking for specific stats/sets im not sure. I havent really looked at gear this wipe
Depends on your class really, but dont worry about it that much, just look what weapon gives you the best stats and use that. You can worry about it after ur done lvling and start building on your final gear set
Its not completely accurate. If you have skills that deliver damage each weapon attack orr each finisher combo. Than fastest weapon possible is the way to go. Because the skill damage is not dependant on weapon but your stats
If you mean on hit attack yes, that has nothing to do with the speed a weapon does a full rotation tho
Bards are best examples for that, they only use wands or shortbows for that and its very common to buff them bless and enchant weapon ontop
Every rotation is 5 attacks ... right
Rogues are also common for shortbow which gives 8 stacks of poison for 1 rotation
Im not talking about amount of hits
I mean attacks to finisher
Im talking about 1 full rotation
So shortbow does full rotation on 5
The only difference in speed is in the weapon giving speedstat so shortbow gives more speed stat (usually) than longbow and hence that makes it faster
Is rapier a bad choice for melee because I'd assume it doesn't cleave. Don't see many or anyone using them
Spear does not cleave too
It does cleave in a smaller cone tho if i remember right
Don't see those hardly ever either
What? So what do you see ?
Only used em once on release, so could be changed, not sure
Or preview you could say
Great sword/axe
What is so great about them ?
So guess im the weirdo bard running a "health" tank build and a 2h axe huh.
not rly no, as for meele wepaon it doesnt matter, what matters is ranged weap
becuase thats what ur gonna use in pvp
pve is irrelevant
Ah yeah i just have a book atm.
if ur lvling, dont worry about it
Havent really found a decent wand or bow. Also sb or lb? Forums say LB is better?
May i ask why sb?
because it has many hits same as wand
i think it has to do with resonance stacking
i havent played bard myself but i have been victim of a bard killing me in like 0.7 seconds
and im not over exaggerating
I believe it, bard can do dumb damage.
Try summoner... guardian doesn't tank, basic attacks do trash damage (by design is fine), summons are always bugged, spells deal 1 feather damage per second.
In fact guardian is so trash and weak, the dps and support summons are stronger and live longer..
And summoner was supposed to be a dps class
sure but thats kinda expected tbh.... summoner launched with steam Ea so only wht 3 weeks?
Not ready to be launched = shouldn't be launched, no?
That list is complete speculation.
for a full game yes, for an alpha no? this is when you test things... in alpha/beta
ive played a LOT of mmo's usually new classes go onto a "beta" branch so you can test and give feedback... but ashes of creation IS a test branch. so...
summoner is not a dps class, it is support
Is rapier the best option for a crit-based rogue?
what is this take, its an alpha, give feedback on it
Always greatsword
lies
Sword rogue bis big dam
weird question can bard be a viable dps
Viable yes but dont expect to get any invites to groups
I thought ppl loved having a Bard?
Not as pure dps
Summoner isn’t dps it’s support
Ppl want Bard for buffs
See a lot of comments on Summoner. Its base kit is a generalists kit. It’s not supposed to heal better than a good Cleric, it’s not supposed damage sponge better than a good Tank, and it’s not supposed to DPS better than a good DPS. Your best weapon is wand and focus. And it scales with Constitution, Mentality, Wisdom, and Intelligence. Your best 5 piece bonus is fortitude, then Intelligence and Wisdom. 115 magic attack speed puts your lowest cast times to .08. Hope this helps.
Such an unfortunate truth, I have to respec my Bard every time I group because solo is DPS but group is mana beech
That's why I invite a second Bard anytime I own a group
It’s not unfortunate it’s literally their role. It’s the point of the Archetype existing.
I might add, too that having two different types of support Archetypes in a game let alone even one is really cool and we should be grateful instead of trying to make them a different role. Those roles exist go play those existing tank, healer, or dps Archetypes if that’s what some of you want.
The game is balanced around having a mana servant to keep groups going.
do you make sure to keep up 100% as a fighter?
You're right and I put more of my gripe lower in that message. I love being the buffer and still have the ability to do moderate damage while proving value for the whole team. I've been Bard since phase 2 and haven't looked back, it is the most fun class imo.
There are many buffs outside of pensive but you are required to have that up in a group setting all the time because many abilities are make hungry. This issue is circumvented at higher levels of Bard since you can have two melodies simultaneously.
Agree. I enjoy games that add elements of not healing support. There are a handfull, but most MMOs and ARPGs stay away from it, unfortunately.
I actually run twin bard in my optimal setup as one does the mana battery thing (then healing song once can weave songs) and then have a second for the dps song and other bard buffs stuff with Cleric, tank and 5 remaining as dps
Rapier+focus yes
Unless you already have high base crit chance but those 2 will just push it higher without losing much compared to daggers
Is it possible to tank as a fighter?
not in the same capacity as a tank no
you can tank some mobs but not rly efficient, in a grp setting anyway
Any place i can learn reliably about gear for mage?
Do you want a fast finisher melee weapon for Bard? Also, is our stat priority just Intelligence- Constitution - Mag Power? Thinking of runnning 5 heavy 4 light, Force Set bonus
If LW gets stations on my server, might aim for 5 heavy 4 medium
what counterplay is there to rogue's blink > stealth? Rogue initiates combat out of stealth, then blinks away and stealths again and the blink range is so big that you cant catch up to it
Question as a cleric, if i am dual targeting an ally and an enemy is there anyway for judgement to focus the ally heal over the enemy hit?
grit isnt working
The approach of processing taking large amounts of time needs to be rethought. Four tin fragments taking 30 minutes to process is just absurd
I could literally fire up a crucible and make tin fragments in less time than that
anybody got any recommendations/guides on dps summoner builds?
Hover cast
I hover cast but not dual targeting and if I have an enemy targeted but hover cast a friendly it will still cast the damage skill. I have to physically click the friendly to get it to heal them.
anyone got a good build for fighter
@barren forumturn on mouse over for heals
This game has no builds.
https://ashescodex.com/builds/page/1
.......................
you build damage on DPS classes and take the same 25 skills out of 30 on every class? I need a guide for that.
Superb advise, thanks
There is no variance because there are no options. What, you think you're going to build disable evasion on a mage or something? You build power, crit, a bit of HP if you pvp
and skip a couple useless talents
For a fighter, what better strenght, power, physical damage as stats first?
lol. if you think summoner is good, you clearly have never played one in another game. its bad. and sadly mine just hit 25 with radiant gear. its still bad. whoever designed that had no idea what identity was supposed to be, its all over the place
Bro is self reporting his ignorance
I'm not sure what to tell you, but that IS how it works. If I'm fighting am enemy and hover my ally, it'll cast judgement on my ally
Yeah, there’s actually quite a few options for mage
You can go full glass cannon, all power, you can go beefcake all HP, or speed mage
you wouldn't know big dam if it bite you
A rogue can not "blink" away (im guessing you mean shadow step as that is the only thing that is vaguely like a blink). That skill requires a target and you shadow step toward it. Any form of DoT will kick a rogue out of stealth (only need like 5% damage to break stealth).
We can grapple away. We can also cleanse dots and smoke bomb to stealth if we get knocked out of it
You dont know a thing about me little boy
Isn’t axe better for melee than sword? Due to axe being able to increase dmg and speed?
Axe is very strong, in all reality you could run whatever strongest wep you have and be fine, iv grown to like sword/axe more than daggers for the larger base hits, i havent tested alot of spear but heard its also pretty good
Don’t know what to tell you but it doesn’t for me. Bug I guess.
should i vendor rare stones or do people actually buy them
Wrong chat, but rare is pretty good to sell on markets
but as far as an increase in dmg and dps wouldnt axe be the better overall choice??
Swords generally have more speed than axes. Really depends on what situation. Tanks with high speed on swords generate more threat than with slower axe
asking questions to learn sorry if they come off weird LOL i was told penetration is the best stat to get for dmg increase. so im debating on axe vs sword. i know they both give speed
and i cant find anything on intial speed of each weapon
Penetration appears to be a broken stat on weapon and no longer needed. It once was really good. I still want to do more testing to see. I used to have all the penetration blocks picked but now I don't and I haven't noticed any change in damage
understood, ty!
Ye. I am also a firm believer any weapon is viable. Just take the time and read the skill trees and see what benefits you most both when solo and with group.
awwww the 3rd grade insults come out. Good job little buddy, I knew you could do it ❤️
Keep going sport
Can we not measure dicks in a chat about archetypes.
My dick little my dps big
As a summoner, if I do not take defensive transmutation, does my vessel just match the defense type I am wearing?
What adept gear should a tank be looking for? Idk what to search for on marketplace lol
Ashen haunt looks good but is kinda pricey since it's blue. Is there anything white or green?
pretty sure that's how it works. i've tested toggling it and don't really see a difference though.
I'd recommend luminous concord and I think its the sunscorched? Both have fortitude as their trait
Downside, the concord is from the anvils and sunscorched is the desert
from PvE perspective is it crazy to run heavy armor as fighter
Just thinking of how to potentially save points and also make myself tankier if there are even any good heavy armor sets that favor spellcast
we have like 2 heavy sets that work for magic right now
Is it just me or do abilities not really flow well together? I'm playing ranger and when I try to use abilities in quick succession, I'm having to spam a button multiple times to get the next ability to come out - It feels clunky like its missing a buffer system
Any protips on how to solo grind with a mage?
When are secondary archetypes planned to release again?
Which are ?
I found ranger to be the clunkiest class to play. All the other classes I played feel really good, smooth and snappy. Ranger needs a complete rework imo. Too many long cast abilities for starters. Ranger should feel like a mobile machine gunner, not a slow casting mage from classic wow.
OK Clerics, @ level 17, what gear should I be wearing? Cant seem to find any peices of gear that use Wisdom/men. Additionaly, why ow hy Steven, did the Greatsword become the clerics bis 😮
What class is least played jw or hardest
Hardest I would say Rogue. Least played I would say tank at higher levels above 10.
@solid pendant ty spacey
Bard Saga: the silent pantheon is a litle OP
both relative to the other sagas, and it's just too strong.
You can only be a citizen of one settlement and it generally gives you a tax break on services like crafting stations and purchases along with expanded storage
You do need to pay taxes however, which cost more the later in the settlement's development you joined
Think its 8 dull dust per month at present for a level 3-4 settlement
Think that might be a bug, it should only ask for 1 tax certificate per month
Yeah its one commission's worth at the moment though thats likely for ease of testing and not the true cost
Does it have disadvantages when I use heavy armor as a mage?
1 tax is only for the first time you become a citizen. There's a few things that can increase or reduce your taxes
Ah, fair enough. Not really had much to do with the settlements
Nope! Only reduce ur magic def
Guys, any higher level fighter may help with PvE tree? what would u change / recommend etc? what u are runing urself. Im currently lvl 13 and wonder how to build this tree
Ranger: short or long bow and why? Weapon tree insight?
Longbow pvp
Shortbow pve
I personally don't mind the longer casts, but they need to be stronger for the cast. Tera Online had a fun archer class with alot of charged attacks and some fast ones.
Mine is showing 84. Makes me not want to bother with the citizen thing. Correction. My taxes, just went up and it says 206.
Clerics, what weapons are we looking a for 20+ I'm currently on spellsword/shortbow, but leaning towards spending the money on a book to go with spellsword, or a wand+focus
is there an way to craft rootforged ?
Yo rangers, what can i do for mana issues
https://tenor.com/view/anthony-adams-rubbing-hands-together-spice-adams-vyd3n-meme-man-behind-tree-meme-gif-2569343513927502347 when there's a mass dc in a grind spot and you're the first one back
just wondering how this resonant weapon of bard works, correct me if im wrong but if i use my pensive melody and just auto attack i will give mana to my party?
There were rumors of a healer discord around - any have a link?
You have to have resonance stacks that you get by casting abilities, and you can stack up to 10.. you consume these stacks with weapon finishers for mana/health/damage.
the circle around your class icon shows how many stacks you have
Was able to tank solo summoner 2 days ago against the minos, now I'm struggling against them just 2 levels above my level and the desync/bug with the guardian doing nothing is making wanna smash the keyboard.
no blitz not good, and get berserk
some heabvy id needed as it holds heavier phys resist profile and especially as melee class like fighter alot the damage you take is physical, common setups are 5 med 3 heavy or 3 med 5 heavy
when you use abilities you get a stack of resonance, the dances give one at start and a 2nd at full completion of the dance and these can bank as far as 10 stacks and when you trigger finishers from basic attacks resonance will consume 3 stacks to proc the extra effect of whatever melody you are running so you will need use abilities to keep the stacks up, i generall over use slide and quick wit to keep stacks up then spam basic attacks for the extra mana procs
very late game i know wand is favoured but i think thats partially cos the wand possible drop from tumok world boss but book isalso very viable, your melee weapon is almost going to be a stat stick, i personally favour spell greatsword but you can use anything that have favouring stats on it for you
Isn't that about 1g every 2 weeks? That's still well worth it for most semi-active players.
That depends entirely on the return for paying said taxes, if you're only using storage and the occasional market stall then that 1g's worth of glint is hardly worth the outlay
Given the current direction of the game, one of mindless grind punctuated by occasional PvP, I dare say adding on yet another tedium to the pile is not going to be favourable
Hello, there is some summoner global feedback ? Like we are missing a core ability to instantly summon our pets ( with cd ) , or otherwise we suffer too much from pvp since we have our clunky ai pet to manage and all the problems , plus low damage overall ..
I think something broke with the Summons, as you are not alone.
is the Cathartic proc for bards resonant weapon considered physical dmg?
look like it
it should scale off your highest power stat tho
what armor are all you clerics trying to build right now? trying to stick to heavy primarily for pvp purposes but having trouble getting a hold of graveplate recipes for the guild
See how the damage is in red/orange kind of colour, that means physical damage as things doing magical damage would have theirs in purple ish text.. this is type of damage done not scaling type enemy
Alright team… where’s the tank discord at
No class discords that I know of. Someone was pushing a bard one in in but I think it’s just self advertising / ded
any pro mage around ?i have critical question
yeah, that shit is AIDS, it sucks. Or the one where I use an ability 3 times in a row and my summon just comes up to me like everything's fine, nevermind the enemy is trying to kill it.
Can a cleric use wand and FOCUS together?
It won’t let me use both weapons together.
It should yes. Sounds like a bug?
That’s what I think.
Drag and drop
what significant CC or debuffs do classes apply? Are there some of the dps classes you want for their debuffs on enemies?
Wish the summoner pet was a mount
Speaking from a tanks perspective anything with an interrupt is great, like a trip or silence. Theres a lot of mobs that use big hits and when you're tanking 5-6 of them at a time its impossible to see them coming, mainly thanks to the sheer amount of glitter they've thrown on skills like its some kind of asian fantasy
@versed viper @proper latch It is indeed a bug, today it allows it, thanks
Ranger root is the best all around
Good range and good size which is fast applicable which makes good to catch people which forces them to use their cc break or die usually if you can capitalise on that root ofc
Bonus points if you yell "big root" everytime even when you miss em
You can ask your question, will try to answer a best as possible
They could add something like an option to see cast bars under nameplates for mobs you're not actively targeting. Games like WoW do that IIRC. You could suggest it under the Feedback forum.
I believe its been suggested already, perhaps something that'll be added in the polishing phase in beta if they take it up
So I've been enjoying tank a lot but not sure exactly what subclass I'd go with. Fighter is definitely an option if I want a more damage heavy build, but I feel if I wanted more battlefield control to keep my team safe and enemies debuffed and allies buffed, what would be best? Probably Cleric?
This is more theorycrafting for whenever subclasses get added in.
For battlefield control you might be looking more towards bard or possibly summoner, cleric will likely be self healing/cleansing
Is there a recommended archetype for players that don't like tab target and rotations?

Cleric i suppose?
And theres not really rotations kinda, more like abilities that interact with each other you use when up
This isnt like wow where you focus down a target (strictly pve) you aoe em down which you dont really need to tab target for, you could even play action cam which is quite janky
Meele auto attacks are cleave which doesnt matter what target you have as long you hold attack (or have active target with setting), since it attacks in front of you
Theres not a premade rotation since you pick and modify the skills you use so it becomes a matter of timing, other than that tab target is really only used for single target skills or theres the cam Daven mentioned. Doesn't change much though
What do summoners think of the skill bond and mutual bond? Does you taking damage allow you to be more efficent with the tank pet?
hello pals anyone playing dps bard or has tested it?
pvp strong, pve not so much
I have definitely felt a difference in the amount of damage the pet seems to take when it is active. Worth it? That's subjective. I like the skill, but wish I had a way to heal. If the heal from Spirit Shred was shared also that would help a ton.
Since spirit shred, mortal blast, and reconstruct all heal the pet, and amplify can boost that healing plus give you essence, I assumed extract vessel would be enough to heal you
Sure... out of combat. Doesn't make sense to take HP from your summon while they are tanking damage for you.
is it good for zerging or its too niche specced as dps?
not really niche but you can burst people crazy hard if you have enough power with a shortbow or wand with resonance stacking i believe
if you wanna learn about bard id recommend look for whoisroxis on yt he has a guide
good player
oh I’ve watched fee videos, thanks brother!
DPS Bard is useful in almost every situation as you are also buffing your partys damage. It excels in pve.
And PVP
Anyone try to find a way to use the healing power of phycial rapiers?
watch me autoattack instead of casting nimble, what gambit? gotta cast fire castle bullshit
What stats on Rouge should I be looking for on gear?
I could be wrong but this is still the case https://discord.com/channels/256164085366915072/1437971948037734411 .-.
urge to reroll a tank so I don't have to deal with tank players... rising
Then you get to deal with the (D)umbmoves (P)er (S)econd people,, theres no escaping bad players
ah, but when I'm a tank player I can whine in party chat for hours and no one will kick me
Summoner is generally one of the best utility classes because of Void, Affliction, and Suppression Ray.
Void drops down a massive AoE that silences enemies within it for the entire duration they're in it, and out of it, they remain silenced for 4 seconds. Suppression silences for 4 seconds as well as exhausts, channeling ability. And affliction applies weaken. Generally speaking, a Summoner in a group kind of allows the Tank to turn off his brain every now and then.
haven't touched that because I think that skill is a goddamn meme.
no MMO does that method because it is generally the fastest way in killing said summoner. Diablo 2 used to have it with the blood golem, they fucking removed that in the future updates FOR A GOOD REASON.
Any recommendations for weapon (melee and range) for cleric?
popping that golem out would practically be a death sentence for the necromancer. Applies here with the summoner.
it's togglable, so can turn it off if health is getting too low. Still not worth it?
I just hope when we have all 64 classes some of them are minion swarm builds. Going to be disappointed if necromancers and every other summoner variant get a single strong minion like the current system.
Would love to see some of the summoner variants/secondaries get highly disposable minions too. Like “Blade summoner” (Fighter/Summoner) having their abilities create and enhance blades that fight for them for a few seconds.
Hi all. Creating my first character. I have allways liked the Tank class but i am also a filthy millenial hipster archetype irl so what is the least common type?
Tanks are great, and in demand, it'l make grinding groups easier and TBH pulling in this game is very easy. You'll die a bit, but no more than your groups clerics or idiot DPS who stand infront of frontals.
Otherwise, I reckon mages are in short supply.
Is it weird to think rogue feels weak without some sort of physical evasion skill besides smoke bomb? Like fighters just dumpster it
If your cc misses its gg
I checked whoisroxi vids and I realized that indeed is a great addition in pve as well!
Has anyone figured out how the scaling on your pet's health works? Does magic power boost it? Does it not scale with anything other than your level? Cause we can increase our character's health with gear and food but there's nothing for the pet
Seems random idk
Haha I was just going to ask the same question hellstocker. The pet scaling seems really wonky. Even the skill that converts your mag def and def to the opposite on pet doesn't seem substantial.
I wish they had a stats window so you can see if what affects. I hit 21 yesterday and I'm about ready to roll a bard or something else.
Everything the bard does requires finishes i.e. auto attack wtf you talkin bout lol
What sets are clerics rocking at 25?
Can ranger solo grind decently? My fighter seems OP for solo grinding early on, Whirlwind can take out 4-6 mobs at a time.
i mean you could read the wiki. summoner mixes will be 1 pet. summoner summoner will be 2 pet. summoner/cleric for necro will be 3 small or 1 big. that is the plan
seems to scale based on which pet is out. tank seems to scale with level and con. dps pet and heal pet scale with level and int. swapped later on to dex to see if it would effect hunter but dropped damage
The scaling of the pets seem to go with the main stats. Constitution, intelligence, mentality, etc. Not the waterfall stats like power, health, etc. And that's for all the pets. Guardian's damage scales with int just like the hunter and vis versa with const
Hows summoner fare up vs fighter for solo play at 25?
Wish I knew. Im only 16
chop trees
https://i.imgur.com/SYyJvrJ.png is this just not working cause it doesnt apply to stats
6% is default
none of the weapon skills apply
did you have that in your hands?
yeah..even removed the skill reapplied it and reapplied my weapon and took the screenie
6% no change
(should be 11%)
check if either maag or phys crit evasion change, and if not /bug it
yeah they didnt checked
none of those bonuses apply to the stat page so dont know if it's being stealth buffed
i did hear the 2.5% pen one is working and there's not even a pen stat, so dunno
pen has been a busted stat for a bit. no idea if it works as intented at all right now
pen lowkey garbage
Yeah sorry, I don’t use the wiki because I’ve gone there for specific information and not found it several times.
Pretty basic stuff too
not sure how much weight it holds but someone who specifically tested it said this is bugged and actually reduces damage https://i.imgur.com/tAgqJx4.png
and some ranger pen ability works
https://i.imgur.com/jpZapY4.png - this works
power through doesn't work apparently
https://i.imgur.com/paG5LH7.png ok this actually changes stats so im going to assume the others are actually bugged
probably some bugs
ok i'm just stupid
i had my daggers wielded swapping out the bow skill: tldr they work
also if you did just before reset things will hang for a while before youre kicked
😂
i forgot i had to actually weapon swap not just have it equipped smh
atleast it works
yeah thats what i meant earlier that you needed it in your hand
Do you have the weapon out or do you have the other weapon out?
nevermind didn't read far enough, its already been answered
How does bard do for solo over content like I see tanks at 25 doing solo SB for emblems and the like can a bard do solo glint or sb farming?
for all the fighter types out there what gear sets are yall rocking
probably cause its a test and things keep changing or its word of mouth and someone half assing
Best weapons for ranger? longbow +? or mby shortbow instead of longbow?
Longbow
and for secondary anything with good stats i assume
what class need a rework according to you guys? (Except for Fighter wich is too easy to choose)
dont matter thier all getting rework before subs but cleric and tank are oldest and most due
How's mage in pvp
Kinda mid, has good dmg output but thats about it
For Melee, just use a stat stick. Ranger has enough mobility to be able to keep distance.
dagger it is then
What's a good int/mag armor set for radiant?
Bards are in high demand. Not enough but at least one needed in every party.
I mean in a perfect world, I'd love to see Beast Master able have the same setup as the beast masters in WoW in terms of selection of animal model for their summons.
Wand/Focus ranged and melee whatever gives you the best stats.
still don't understand why Fighter needs a rework. High level experience shows them exploding people left and right and taking heads.
just hit 20 on my bard - Looking for advice on armor sets atleast their names to look into
slooooooooooooow.
in terms of leveling and solo play, Summoner, if you're trying to use the Guardian as the tank for mobs, has a pretty meh clear time, probably the slowest? Damage Bard might be slower?
Hi.
Im playing a rogue. Levelling from 20 to 25 seems like quite the job for a rogue and in these grinding xp farms.
Are they not really melee friendly, im afraid i will spend more time dying than fighting these in melee
