#alpha-two-archetype-chat

consider this prep time to get gear for summoner
have they shown anything for summoner?
The GMs have toyed around with them a bit on the PTR. Jacob was showing off all the summons and abilities one day while giving out boosts when the vendors broke.
Any other tanks ready to get back in the mix?
ill have to go check it out, also is there any dates set for when we can do mixed archetypes? (I havent played since start of phase 1 so maybe they added it already and I missed it)
not in
No dates, either. Timeline is roughly summoner in Sept on PTR, in game in Oct, then class reworks, and finally sub archetypes. from what I've seen.
I’m back from holiday mid October I’m excited to be able to make my first boy in p3 as a summoner
When it releases. Not on ptr yet
maybe next year bucko
Hello all, trying to decide on a class and Tank seems ridiculously weak in PvE right now. Any chance this changes later on or is it pretty much the same across levels?
why did they remove r-t-y ? wtf pressing ctrl+1 is so bad
fighter character creator armor got changed from PTR to Live, can we still get that in game later I hope?
I'm really confused about rangers... each ability uses focus and mana?
Yes they use both. Mana is the casting cost and then you deplete the focus bar to amplify the damage
Ah... I see the buff under my bar now. Was looking for how much the cost in focus was for each ability, but it appears to be random based on how much damage you do.
Yeah.. dont know the the ratios but like snipe will use a large portion of it
Havent played since February...glad to see Clerics are still bussin
tried both tank and fighter... fighter little more power in pve... but damn tank is so useless in killing anythjing....... how is bard?
Bard is fine and needed in groups. Odd thing about Bards thier Melodies impact Auto-Attack via "Resonant Weapon" which builds as non-melody spells are cast. You need to be careful casting Discordance since it can "chain" and pull extra MOBS. The Starting book can also do this so many Bards use a Wand or even a Spellbow.
Bard has good sustain and solos well but slower than a mage.
Bard requires more skill to solo then all other characters IMO. That makes it more fun.
Did they not buff Tank?
Is there a way to get out of stealth easily with rogue?
weapon attack ?
any rogues in here rocking 2 handed axes? what are most rogues running?
tryna compare and contrast here
Whatever gives the most stats
i never played this game before but watched a lot of videos. I really like bard but some people say it got nerfed a lot in p3. I play solo half of the time so as a begginer would any bard mains reccomend me bard or i should look for another class? (i dont want to be a heal bot aswell :c )
Stick to it, its still the best class in the game
i think i will just everyone says its group dependent character thats why i had second toughts
Thats everyone, but bard is very good soloing
Its also one of the 2 classes that currently have some depth to it
i will definetly play then thanks a lot for the info
New weapon and jewelry time sink really sucks Absolutely forced after having items available to purchase taking away a quality of life which we are already used to lame Forcing everyone into these huge time sinks at lower levels IE crafting through not able to purchase weapons and armor I really can't get behind I absolutely refuse to wear any of the skins I've purchased with the 1000 plus dollars so not to encourage this money grab
Wrong channel
bro is searching for the one channel the devs actually look at
That would be the one with lotsa red names in it.
longbow or shortbow for rogue?
Also duel daggers or greatsword for rogue?
^
Are greataxes worth it?
Weapon types don't matter
it has higher stats and has about a 3 percent difference in damage compared to the greatsword.
I wanted to know if anyone has seen the attack animations and determined if the trade off to attack speed is worth the extra damage.
Could someone teach me how the combo system works with fighter? (Keybound to E default)
combos are specifically based on weapon are you using the base greatword.
Yes sir
The ashes of creation wiki shows what the base combo is for a greatsword with dmg percentage included in each slash. When you unlock finishers further down your weapons skill tree your combo will be extended to include the stab animation that is when you proc your finisher augmented skills.
Oh there is a wiki, ill check it out 🙂
https://ashesofcreation.wiki/
It is very large and you can definitely go down rabbit holes in learning about all the planned systems and interactions
Cool, thanks!
Whats the best archetype for solo PvE only? (I don't care 1 bit about PvP)
Likely Bard.. good all around survivability.. I play Rogue as it will be used for farming as well as everything else, so.. sneaky, sneaky & gank ready for resource commandeering.
Watched a rogue stealth mine a node, was very sneaky
More for me about skating around the mobs..
&, mayhap, taking a load off another player..
Ahhh, i had hoped to test the conjurer...
any idea when we can test the archetype?
Hoping to have Summoner to the PTR in September. So maybe a month or so after that?
People keep wanting Summoner and im here thinking where are my profession talent trees???
For real. They just hate crafters it seems. No talent trees, crafting costs you so you can't even make anything off it.
is summoner not availabe right now?
Nop. PTR Sept. Live Oct^tm.
ah thanks
What day in sept. For ptr summoner
There are no firm dates for summoner testing on PTR just a tentative timeframe.
Steven said sept on ptr prior to saying sept oct release but yea if its not delayed again its on ptr in sept
Is the staff weapon back in phase three?
Anyone having an issue as tank where courage doesn't generate?
Yup, log out and back in, should fix it
Thanks
everyday same fucking questions like theres not a fuyckin search bar up top
someone down for creating a petition to put Tankability "Grit: back as passive instead of a spammable aktive? 🤣 👍
Lowkey kind of over tab target mmos but for stuff like summoner classes they are generally interesting
Bit sad 3 is the max summons you can get depending on archetype but i get it for performance
3 main summons, i think they said you might have more small temp ones (might be wrong here though)
What main and Off hand as Ranger ? Longbow and ? like Bis ?
is it just me or is the Bard Discordance bounce distance way bigger then before? i always pulling like miles away Mobs with the main target
It's always been huge, TBH, wiped like a dozen times in phase 2 from pulling three packs with it
Well for me it feels way bigger now, but well it is as it is
Hi question to bards, are you getting large procs off both melodies when you use two at once?or are you just getting the large procs off the melodiy your currently casting?
oh it seems resonance does proc off both just the last one - is resoanance supposed to proc off both?
Whatever your active song is, counterpoint doesn’t trigger off of both buffs
Also class resources are still bugging like they did on ptr so sometimes you can’t generate resonance. Or swap elements for beam, or no divine power generation, etc.
i mean it should though right - you have both melodies up
Maybe but that’s not how it works, based on active melody
in my mind they are both active though since they are both on the buff bar. One for the devs I guess
3 total summons out at once
Depending on the archetype
1 summon at once
Up to 3 at once
Depending on the archetype
So its safe to assume necromancer can have 3 at once
We dont have archetypes yet but base summoner is 1
they said 1 for now in a previous stream, technical reasons didnt heard otherwise so far
Bards, did they get rid of the dispel effect on Maddening Dance?
Whats up with snares right now?
Im using barrage + scatter shot which applies 50% snare, but mobs are just running towards me in normal speed.. Its impossible to actually kite even with 50% snare?
Yeah, I feel the same. I stepped away for a bit and will come back with a new toon. Rangers are pretty useless compared to other classes atm. When they fix crafting, maybe that will change things.
After many years of development, i would actually have thought the game would be more polished than what it is.
What a shame.
how are other clerics feeling, feels like the healing is so poor compared to what it used to be
I guess the gear is also much worse, but feels a bit underwhelming
Cleric + action combat = doomed? How can I land judgement on a party member? Always lands as dmg on a mob, even if I have the party member selected
i think the lack of gear is the biggest part, my grp has been running 2 clerics and a bard, we get in a rhythm and clear pretty well. we all hit 17 today but doing anything solo is PAINFUL. sure i can out heal anything 1 star or below at my level but it takes quite some time to kill it. cleric feels better healing as you hit the early to mid teens as your arsenal starts to fill out more
yeah, I played P1 and that time it was great, now it feels horrible compared to that
i was bard in P1 and i know they got nerfed fairly hard from what i hear
but yeah, when you get level 12-13 cleric feels much better, but still, early levels are quite rough compared what it used to be
but yeah i think its the lack of gear dropping and the speed of crafting leveling is too slow and the cost too high so there is very little gear knocking about (and im in a fairly large community so if there were hardcore crafters burning through id see it)
leveling crafting is quite useless currently when nodes are not up to pace
100%
and I think also processing with these extra reagents, feels horrible, not only they are super expensive but they are annoying as f
fuel is annoying and now they added one extra layer there
yep once you get there you notice that you dont have enough money
or forgot a reagent from a vendor back where you started
I think there is now also issue that when the nodes and crafters are actually there to craft anything people have already over leveled them
but yeah, also one thing is that its really hard to notice the power, like, usually in RPGs, once you craft or get that good gear, you feel that you are more powerful, now you dont really see anything
yeah, we have hit it pretty hard and put in 60 hours or so since the server went live so thats kinda on us but its gonna be days /weeks or months until we can effectivly craft anything decent
you do. our rangers got the fleshripper today and their damage doubled!
yeah maybe that such a huge upgrade that you can then feel it
but from like early starting weapon to crafted does not feel that great
agreed
but yeah, fleshripper is like 1500 power or something so its different ball park
also i dont like how the power itself is calculated, or is visible, you get 200 more power and then actual power goes up 5 or something
now we are at septh we are slowly getting some gear for our phys guys but for the most part we are all in the first tier of crafted weapons and the parcel quest reward. thats it lmao
yep, only power increase is the skills + levels
which is a bit dump, it would also do a lot if there were player market place at starting areas
like now economy is stuck and general chat is used for selling
maybe NA is different but at least EU we dont still have villages
maybe, but even if there was there isnt alot of stuff to sell, and the cost of crafting is so insanly high that people wouldnt be able to really afford the gear and thats with the crafter almost breaking evem
yep but at least it would ease it a bit
but yeah crafting is super expensive
im on NA, we have 2 at encampment, thats it the rest are crossroads or lower
so same as EU then
yeah by the sounds of it
and 60 hours to 17 is kinda nutty time invesment imo
bare in mind thats with a full 8 man almost all the time
yeah, I have played only solo, about 15-20 hours and im 10
but yeah, im now planning to stop this gathering stuff because its not going anywhere and doing some pugging
yeah i would since they increased the drop rate today (supposedly lol)
yeah, I leveled basically almost solo to 20 in P1 but now it does not really work, I hit like wet noodle and I cannot properly sustain myself so its not worth it
or you could do 1 or 2 mob pulls but its not great
it feels like they are intending on making clerics forced into grp play, it gets easier as you get a few more levels to sustain but damage always feels weak
yeah, but in P1 eventhough dmg wasnt great, at least heals felt good and I could pull like 4-5 mobs at the time and then cleave them all down
now you just die even if they are like 4 levels below you
yeah, again no gear lol
yep, and higher power level of mobs and decreased power level of players
but in general issue is kinda that, nothing feels fun at the moment, or I guess group play have stayed quite same as earlier
and mining is better now :)
eh, its been fun because of my group, not the game.
yeah
its gotta be hard balancing the game for the sweats and the normals and then casuals to be fair but this is currently punishing everyone
any mages notice that you can't use arcane might to stack 3 enchantments on other players anymore?
Any tanks got same problem with courage generating? It works for only few minutes then I cant get any and cant use some skills ofc. Relog fix it.
I've given up on that for now, i farm mats and keep onlly that with the best quality, and sell the rest. money will come, I hope, when tradehalls start popping up.
guys is it possible to get lvl10 gear anywhere, we're so fucking homeless its unplayable
legit 0 damage at lvl10 😭
Only through crafting or drops. The drops have been increased, but it is fairly dependent on level ranges from my limited experience.
wonder if summoner will have an ability like warlock in wow where they can cast a portal to summon party members, would be cool.
requires half the party of 8 to summon them, so summoner + 3 others.
So frustrating that this is what killed 2.5 and nothing changed. They tried to cure the symptom not the disease. Artisans were not crafting enough to supply the player base. "Let's put in an additional level of gear, increasing the amount of gear that needs to be produced".
anybody know if the "A Giant Threat" quest is bugged at the rock caller stage?
i go pick up the stars of the undying under water, but can't interact with the monolith thing down there. and the rock caller just never spawns... .
That was patched out a few months ago. Was a bug that a player could have more than one
then they need to reward the phrasing on the ability, enchant weapon. It clearly states "Enchant up to one ally's weapons with your current set of elemental empowerments."
Idk man. Should be like blessed weapon but yah know #alphathings.... Yaaaaay ☠️
Let’s make it so mages can pick there element for there spells.
Hi everyone. Hope you are making the best of downtime. I have a question about weapons. Is there any difference between weapons besides stats? Like is there any benefit for a fighter using a spear over 2H sword?
Short time I've played the different weapons add different effects with the finishers and what not
What do you mean? Like the skill trees are different? Interesting
Bless Weapon is S tier
only in pve if you proc the full combo effects as in pvp its irrelevant as you never fully auto attack with your meele weapon but only your range weapon which it does matter where you would use a longbow
absolutely not fighter is the best dps along with mage
I mostly have pve so far but, thank you for pointing that out for pvp that's interesting.
Ill keep leveling him, just got to lvl 8. But I am not nearly seeing the Crits I would get on my ranger
I feel that way. I feel like our survivability early on is bad in comnparison too.
Yeah definitely feels like dookie cheeks early on that's for sure
i wouldt use lvl 8 as benchmark and fighter will also have the best surviveability outside tank and support classes
i forgot the name but there is an ability later on that lets you lifesteal and get mana back based on dmg and with that you will basically have never downtime again
We need class like Affli Lock !!!!!!!
summoner is supposedly a dot class
Once you have Blood Fusion it improves a lot.
I think this’ll be Summoner but if you like stacking debuffs Bard is honestly some similar vibes
The different weapons provide different debuffs they proc which your abilities will react with.. so you need to look at what types of debuffs you'd like.
Also at the top of the tree you get buffs for your self (and your group if you get the node).
IE mace provides armor pen, sword provides attack speed, and spear provides crit on your next ability or weapon combo
I can solo higher level elites with regenerative fluidity, it's a bonkers passive. So much fun.
Was trying out tank but not really feeling much love for it being mostly solo, although the survivability is nice.
Any thoughts on what else to try? I'm not a huge micromanager.
fighter
better solo survivability and sustain. better dps. Mainly you are going through your combat rotation, it's reactionary rather than micro-manage heavy.
Fighter. Ok I'll give a try. Thanks.
It's not a solo game tho, you will struggle a lot if you don't play with people
and bear in mind that fighter is really good at soloing mob after lvl12 before it sucks
I tend to get a lot more done alone, and some of use cannot lock into a group for hours at a time. Fighter is a tank/dps/heals all rolled into one.
I know the game is very group based. I have no issue grouping for stuff I just play fairly solo like no friends or guild to group with atm. That's all.
play fighter then, maybe summoner will be pretty good in soloing I assume with his mobs, will see
It's good unless you're fighting anti-melee mobs, which are aplenty tbh
Fighter is good at soloing after lvl 12 when you get Blood Fusion, which is a fat heal and mana sustain. It's not great before that.
It depends on what you are doing. A ranger can burn down a single target fast for sure as long as it's under so many k hp. Then they are trying to kite and set up snipes to maintain that. A mage will run OOM and die from staying in optimal dps range too quick, it neeeds to get in and out or have a tank. A fighter can basically just go 100%, 100% of the time without a bard or heals. And really until you are high level with high attack speed, zipping thru all your instas on repeat against groups of mobs it wont feel very dangerous. The fighter big damaging abilities also are a lot of aoe, so a ranger is going to do better vs big raid bosses and things like that
zombies are a pita for a fighter
If everyone is melee range, the zombies dont spit anti heal venom
but, yes, they are a PITA
the homies hate zombies (signed by Cleric gang)
they do that chomp tho if i remember correctly direct damage life steal
what are good duo partners for a bard?
fighter
rogue or another bard, idk i dont play them but i like it when they is around
rogue/fighter is both dps that can facetank
yeah was thinking fighter for good sustain after 12 with bard songs to help
would have to be one of the faster leveling duos as you can dps and not worry about their mana
only timber doesnt change in size and it makes sense since youre only skinning the bark
Better question is why are you asking this in archetype chat
dps? not really. the risk factor, totally.
Fighter is way up there for consistent DPS especially AoE cos you basically never stop. If you do your Berserk reset right and hit double buffed WW into Cata Maim combos its probably the best pve aoe in the game
Risk can be avoided a lot by reactive blood fusions and max ranging, but it totally still exists. And if you still have some ADHD tanks that like to dodge around it can be a Mr Bean in the 4D cinema kinda life
or yoink targets away from you... gah
don't get me started
any cleric tried +healing on their items, any good?
you probably want both magic power and healing power
I'm sure someone here is details/numbers oriented enough to confirm
ofc its good, esp now since your heals heal like a wet noodle
prior phases didnt really matter since you would overheal like crazy if they dont die in .2 seconds
You do want both at a certain point. Healing Power doesn't scale from Magic Power 1 : 1 anymore. It's more like 1 : 0.75. Just get what you can, it's not a huge deal until DR starts being a bitch @thin ingot
its 50 if i remember it right and one does not exclude the other, mpower is is mainly mainstat where healing power is a substat
I haven't ran it since last couple days of PTR, but it was 75% then. I'll have to run the numbers again.
The healing power rating to healing power squish was also 33 : 1 instead of the 50 : 1
could be if they changed it recently
is there a case to be made for form of fluidity in group content? it applies shaken with your cleaves, giving a damage buff too all physical dps, whereas ferocity only buffs your damage
What weapon combo would you recommend to a rogue? I've been using daggers + shortbow but I'm interested in hearing if there's something else you feel is good
currently I'm using 2hand mace and short-bow. I feel wand/1 hand mace may be idea endgame for pvp, especially if invest into the chill stuff. Leveling, I want a stagger to get rid of resist, especially vs higher level mobs. Also like the longbow for that. I tend to stay in melee and only peel off and kite things that hit too hard or if I need to heal up. Having the highest power rating for your poison dots come from big slow weapons.
also the damage buffs from Axe/sword/mace lines make the daggers look meh.
What’s the meta cleric weapon these days? Still short bow?
Idk meta, 2h mace is so much fun
Greatsword is nice also instead of dagger
I got a really nice stat stick for 2H spear but the damage from spear sucks. Not based on spell power.
not really, shaken is also applied by tanks aoe aura i think was it? but for pve you always go red form unless your tank dies and you have to tank the rest
This, and fighters also apply it with cataclysm. Or take art of war and swap to red after you cleave.
then make another spear that have m damage 😄
time for an alt
anyone got any good DPS cleric ideas/builds?
Reroll mage or bard or wait for summoner
true 😛
Is there any class that is a bit of a hybrid melee/ranged?
technically fighter and tanks in pvp because they cant just mindlessly charge in
as for in actual kit no not really
and we cant pick the 2nd archtype yet correct?
I'm seeing mix for bard out there for weapons. Currently im using a shortbow, but im seeing book or using wand/sepcter. Does it really matter for bard as long it has mag on it
yea that will be a while somewhere in 2026 hopefully
Thanks
generelly yes you want magic stats and the more the better however for bard esp people use only shortbow or wand for pvp because certain spell applications though bard is the class i know the least so im not 100% why, beside having mage/cleric on hit dmg buff
but yea the more stats the better
as for meele weapon it doesnt matter at all beside pve which also doesnt really matter
yeah. i guess right now im hitting a dmg wall so i was trying to figure out if weapon type helped but yeah i made a pretty good shortbow and had a 2h sword drop with mag on it so been using that. I saw wand/septer-focus so was wonder if they better for bard. im not really grouping right now so been doing ok so far lol
ye doesnt matter just go for stats
At this stage of the game (near the beginning) what armor should I be striving for as a Ranger?
Level 11 that is
Fair enough. Thanks.
what if bard gets a mechanic where if they press their melody again while its casting, it will insta cast at the cost of 1 (or 2) resonant stack?
also fortisimmo needs a buff
i love the idea of amplyfing the melodies, but it needs to be a bit more impactful than it is now, or rather satysfying to press, ofc the extra dmg is impactful
maybe fortissimo makes ur melodies extend beyond just party?
any idea how to ensure Cleric judgement heals the ally instead of damaging the enemy?
trying out a mage, i have a focus but it only goes in the melee offhand slot, what goes in the ranged offhand slot with my wand?
you have to manually move the focus
doesnt seem to work it only goes in the melee slot
oh, Longbows are like way better on bards this phase. I was wondering why my resonant weapon never triggered with my shortbow and it turns out it has a seven hit combo now
I hopped on thinking we had summoner but I guess not. Do we have a date for Summoner?
You have to target your ally first directly, then casting Judgement. The game locks your target when you press the button, instead of when the spell completes it's casting.
November 18th is that date atm.
Subject to change obv
PTR later this month was leaked on their recent developer livestream. However that is never guaranteed. Most are still hoping sometime in the next three months.
Granted they could also just outright drop it on us with the new Harbinger Update coming out this month, but even that update could end up getting pushed out.
Has there been any indications that tank grit will last longer than 20 sec soon? I get tired of spamming it and my tendonitis is exploading... xD
Rework in 2026
So when do they fix grapple
i thought they "fixed" it already by making it teleport or something, i don't play tank, just what i've heard
also the wiki makes it seem like they might be changing Courage to be a PvP taunt @rigid hamlet, kinda interesting
https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Courage
this was parsed from the latest version of the skill from the game files (the current version of Courage is different ofc)
Sadly it's not fixed :( it works 7/10 times now instead of 1/100 times tho
does it teleport?
yes
but the teleport it sadly not consistant, they often remain in place
Played cleric to 19 this phase to help another group for a few days, before leveling bard to 25. Stuff I didn’t like about cleric:
- judgement not having dual targeting options
- lack of cast bars. Specifically soothing glow not being clear
- shitty Buff and Debuff UI makes it suck to keep track of stuff. Tank buffs, hots, etc.
- the mix between max HP skills and MP skills. You end up using aoe skills for single target healing
- ground targeting skills blows. This camera angle with this range ain’t it coach
- cursor is too hard to see. I can’t heal effectively without being able to target in game names. (More of a zvz problem)
- heals cast even if a target is not in range. This sucks extremely badly. Like very very bad. “Oops I just used my big CD on myself”, instead of an out of range thing.
- allies being in range or out of range is not clear enough.
- HP bars are still fairly spikey. Limiter ends up being one shots lining up RNG rather than going OOM. You also can’t cast fast enough.
- detargeting is inconsistent
- stuck in combat too long
- rations don’t scale
- I don’t like the gameplay of the class resource.
- I don’t like recasting buffs when I die.
- basically no solo dps
Random stuff I liked:
- The resplendent beam casting and animation is very cool. The ethereal light theme is cool, better than yellow.
- resurrection animation is cool.
- I like soothing glow duration extension and being a hot healer.
- I like the blessed weapon thing
- saving lives and being desirable
- deliverance is cool but when 1000% healing power is 10% of the tanks HP that doesn’t feel so good
Also bards numba one
what armour are people rocking for mage? all light or mix and match?
My experience with Cleric is similar.
I agree with:
Judgement not having dual targeting options
Ground targeting skills blow generally. There are very few confined space battles.
Heals cast even when target is not in range, or continuing after target goes out of range.
Allies being in or out of range not clear enough, or range is too short. If range is going to be a thing, we need the tools to manage it.
De-targeting is inconsistent.
Never use that first skill/class resource, as instant cast.
Single target DPS is lack-luster, AOE DPS is too low to be remotely useful or a factor.
Spell animations fine to great.
Healing scales extremely poorly (from P2, I haven't tested it this phase)
I like the Blessed weapon.
Bards are number #1 healer/support and adequate for levelling.
Also:
Clerics fairly unnecessary for group grinding at appropriate levels. If you can gear a tank, you don't need a Cleric, a Bard is far better. If you don't gear a tank, a cleric isn't going to help.
I disagree with:
Targeting is fine, you just have to target off the group/grid, not the camera. But I agree generally, if you have worse than excellent vision, the game is a challenge in general.
Don't understand the soothing glow point at all.
I don't think Clerics need to be just desirable (I don't agree that they are worth their share of the XP), they need to be essential.
Rogue: I seem to be frozen out of light attack in combo.. cannot complete combo if timer to complete combo is still running.. can anyone relate or bugged
I'm going to be honest...I think youve only played cleric to like..lvl 17 with mediocre gear...
Clerics are incredible
-
Single target DPS
I'll give you that, it's not great, but it's formidable, has burn/conflag, stuns/silences/volatile, and can heal the caster in some occasions... You just need to focus on magic power if you want that glass cannon -
AoE DPS/Heals
Not sure what you're smoking, DF + Chains+ Wave is nasty DPS...and stuns/debuffs
The healing? Giga big, especially when tied in with all the other skills
- Quick Cast class passive
If I read that right, you said you didn't use that? If that's correct...boy... You're playing the class wrong
//
I'm not going to beat a dead horse, but I've played cleric, solely, since P1 day 1, and I'll tell you: they are arguably the best all around class in the game
I'll be here all night for anyone who has questions
No need to be combative.
Single target dps is quite decent, which is good for solo play, but being a glass cannon isn't good for solo play.
AOE healing is low not because the ability numbers are low, but because you cant target enough people.
I use the passive. Why wouldn't you?
Didnt mean to come off combative
also, small side note on 'glass cannon'.. AoC is weird.. Glass Clannon jsut means full cloth build(cloth gives int bonuses), which reduces your PHYSICAL defence, but makes you damn near immune to MAGICAL damage. So.. not so great in PvE where the majority of enemies ar eup in your face smacking you, but its pretty solid in higher end group content where enemy npcs are like firestarters or other forms of mages
For AoE healing, chain the Divine Flare - Resplendent Beam - and cast Communal Restoration off cd
If you put bless weapon, with the left skill tree bonus, on a fast attacking party member, you will literally never run out of mana.
Yeah, I am absolutely certain we will be fine in end game and even essential (just like artisans). The problem is how to get the rest of the team to include us on the way up!
The shortened spell cast passive is how you fast cast judgement in a pinch - the largest single target healing
Youre not wrong, its very gear dependent. Clerics feel like must migrate to group gameplay post-lvl 10 for most of their abilities to shine
Yeah I get that. Played a resto druid in WoW for years. That instant cast ability is great, but I preferred it pushed before the spell-cast not after. Or I am so used to it that way, I cant get used to the other?
It makes a difference, for sure, but theres only about 3 skills it can be used on currently. Excited to see lvl 25+
This is the place to give class feedback idea's right?
I figured, but wanted to check here. I had an idea to change a spell but, wasn't sure
You can do both. Also, they look at official forums more
Bard idea- My idea is quite simple.
Make this spell not consume 5 resonance but instead generate 5.
Since, legit when have you actually pressed this in a group? The only time I ever use this spell is with epic melody moving from A>B
Maybe even not make it generate 5, or generate at all. Just allow you to use it w/o consuming 5
hey I was using that all the time before I realized that Shortbows are terrible for bards this phase
They are? I've not used one yet this phase. Did they nerf the speed?
it still attacks pretty fast but it's combo is seven attacks long, so it takes forever to proc resonant weapon
Hm I see. I've been using wand so far
I am curious if book/longbow would be semi viable due to more magic power, but the speed on them hurts my soul
I'm using Longbow RN, it seems pretty good to me, three hit combo means you get procs all the time
Will have to try it whenever I can afford to buy more weapons
oh noes do i have to wand now?
i thought spellbow had best proc rate...
why do my bard songs keep disappearing? especially in the Warhelm Ruins it happens a lot, sometimes even out of combat just standing there
the channel is still ongoing but the buff keeps disappearing
What ranged weapon do yall mages use? I’ve always used wand and haven’t tested out the others really.
There's a bug where the songs drop when you move between server workers
what's a server worker?
and how often does that happen?
because my songs sometimes drop multiple times a minute in some areas
press Page Up
that shows your server worker
the AoC world is split into many servers (Server Workers) to handle high player loads, you usually can't notice moving between them but sometimes there are bugs like this.
It’s the hamsters they have powering the servers. Dynamic gridding will split those hamsters but that’s not working yet
ok thanks
yea just noticed, it's a SW change that causes the drop, thanks for the info
definitely report stuff like this if you can
makes bard almost unplayable
In p2 whenever you got on your mount, it’d take away the buff, but keep the aura around your character. I was in a lot of fights with bi actual buff on 😂
i know mounting removes the aura, but thats at least predictable, makes sorta sense, and doesnt surprise me mid combat
does someone know where the quarters of the helmlord are in Warhelm because then i can finish this cursed zone
it's not that bad elsewhere, but in Warhelm my SW keeps changing every 20s or so
maybe it's near SW borders
are they fixed areas?
yes and no.
right now they are, but they have a tech called dynamic gridding, which is not enabled yet.
that will split / merge servers based on player population dynamically.
this means that we'll have more (smaller) servers where there are many players, and less (large) ones when there are few players
but you're not supposed to notice when you switch between server workers anyways, so once they ironed out the bugs it won't rly matter to you how many servers there are.
ok yea warhelm basically has a different SW every room apparently
that would be a huge overkill, a server worker can easily handle 200+ players without lag right now.
if that's the case I'd assume it's not intended
or they are just being overly cautious
maybe it's just where these 3/4 server workers meet
back here is 47
in the middle of a big grind zone, lol
yeah, makes sense because it splits players into 4 groups / servers
- there is also the starting area nearby that's super populated
Are any rogues experiencing freezing light attacks during combos if the followup is timed out?
Are you able to describe this better? Ive had a few weird things happen but my character hasn't frozen mid attack which is what im picturing by your description.
let me confirm again if it;s not a mag/stam issue.. maybe I'm just tapped out.. silly that I didn't check first.. but that shouldn't affect light/auto attack.. hmm
couple artisan questions, just hit journeyman lumberjacking i member in phase 2 there was lumber jack clothing to incase either rarity or speed and bags to incase carrying capacity. Where and how do i get these?
oops wrong chat sorry
Hey there folks. I was wondering, what are folks thoughts on what a Cleric should wear for gear? I'm thinking cloth stuff from what little I know right now as I want ot heal
Whatever gives you the best stats, magical stats not physical
Anyone have an opinion on the Rogue using the Rapier?
Makes sense if the Rapier skill tree provides higher penetration than other weapons. That way your damage isn't mitigated as much.
BY ANY CHANCE, do you know what setting this keybind is listed under? I knowningly put a keybind on this and I did not see it while trying to find to rebind this to something else xD
Hey question: Thinking of trying mage first, is there any benefits to going a solo element vs doing many elements?
fighters get better at level 12 right? for solo pve?
No, go back to darkfall lol
i will once it launches 😄
No. They feed off eachothers status effects
Does anyone know if the current version is the core vision for the final mage skill tree? I mean, if it is they need better game designers asap
As soon as you get regenerative fluidity you can solo all sorts of stuff and take zero damage as long as you don't spend your momentum. It's slow but you can solo elites or large packs of higher level with no risk.
I think you can get it at like 9 or 10 even
Dunno, iam having fun on my mage.
What do you mean by Bad Design?
It lacks fantasy.. 3 element types, it’s really basic, not really much theory crafting when it comes to the build. Sure its playable and a mage is fun, but I feel like there is a huge opprtunity here on making a truly unique mage class and Intrepid just does not care and uses old well known and boring formula
It’s well designed but Lacks different build options yes.
But we get 7 different Classes to mix and Design different mage styles. Also max Level will be 50 in the future or not? 😁 it’s all work in Progress.
Basic archetype before adding in a secondary to make the actual class should be simple.
Remember that staring as a Mage isn't one class, it's 8 and you will have to choose which direction to take it.
I very much hope its work in progress, otherwise i am going to be dissapointed. Honestly it looks like a tech demo (well its alpha so its all fine) that someone threw together on one afternoon. (Again, i know its alpha so its all fine)
Hello, what stats is a bard that will buff mana looking for? Thanks
Magic stats, ur welcome
So both int/wisdom is good?
Ya
I with healing power also effected mana generating spells 🙁
but ya magic power/power, int, wis, crit to lesser extent too
Just a comment here to say, nothing beats hunting with a Rogue. 'nuff said.
Who do I have to make a 4 course meal for to get the summoner class? 😅
Why
Stealth, stealth & stealth. that with Dash. If you're camping a spot like the wolf & grem den in Stealth (to amp up novice hunter levelling), you can utilize the Dash (think Blink with end to end encryption) to get to the huntables well before others, pet in Stealth & only pop out of Stealth when the resource comes into inventory. Moving through high level mobs to access resource nodes to attain those that others won't touch, Kick or Thump to get back into Stealth if the mobs do attack & get away.. it's just a highly mobile class for all kinds of gathering where you can obfuscate your way through most every environment. Also, just so much good ol' fashion fun to play.
'nuff said.
what stats should I be looking for in gear for a clearic/ healer to improve my heals?
power is the only thing that really matters in this world
magic power, power, int, wisdom
sounds good tyty
With great power..
comes great mana
In P2, I had a cleric with full heavy armor, a shield, and went focus into:
Magic power, Int, const, mentality
And it was so fun. My heals were 7/10, damage was 6/10, but tankiness/survival was 10/10. It was, honestly, a load of fun. I just needed the Cleric/Tank class to get dropped
Understood.
I’ll stick to mining 🙌
how do current cluster spawns work
i know its being fixed but im still not 100% sure how the current system is
all ive seen is if u see legendary stay in that area, but is it the exact spawn location or the entire area?
meant to type this in artisan chat
how creative can you get with builds?
Looking at the online character builder it looks a little like a ranger is a ranger
Not much diversity in builds, Im trying to decide what class to play
right now you just tick every single talent node at max level, there are not many
no diveristy at all
they are reworking the talents and classes though with more talent nodes and ranks for them
so hopefully that comes soon
The current talents/skills definitely feel very placeholder and experimental. They've said changes are coming but I am very curious to see what those look like.
For what it's worth, some of the newer archetypes like rogue have some mutually exclusive talent choices, which is interesting.
Which two poisons do you want, would you rather have more utility spell charges or be able to use those utility spells while stealthed, etc.
Not much diversity yet. We dont have access to our second class options, 25-50 levels, and no skills ranks yet.
if i choose as second archetipe the rogue will i be able to become invisible with fighter or mage?
No idea.. we are all in the same boat of just guessing and assuming how they will implement the 2nd class options. You can read about it on the wikis but nothing is confirmed till it's released
No only when your first class is rogue i think. With second class you change your abilitys in some way so far as i k ow
I just wanna do bard bard 😠
I wanna double my bardness
(Though intrepid, give us 10 slots so I can make all bard combinations. Thanks)
How Bard-like, sounds like it needs to be a song.. lulz!
edit: the line above..
My fear is that other classes are going to get discounted bard melodies. And that all bards will be left with is gambits and dances / cc
Who knows admittedly. I hope we get our hands on it sooner then later
since as it stands, I've lost a lot of faith in them for balancing stuff. Sooner its out the sooner more hands can get on it and sooner it can get fixed
Most of the class changes they do have all been good. Only recent miss I can think of was focus for rangers. Nobody bothers to pay attention or play around it in any fashion that I know of
That's fair. I more meant - balance wise - is drops/crafting
If they take that kind of mentality to classes, I worry
Anyone tried physical wand on ranger?
Energy focuses aren’t really a thing, compared to bows. I haven’t checked in a while though
Sucks for all those 1h melee weapons. Especially since shields are way worse this phase than last
What would be the point of balancing the classes at this stage when everything is going to change?
changes now might be relevant to the later changes too
any1 know if i lose my mounts i possessing after a settlement/node level up?
so they stop breaking the game with dumb shit nobody cares about.... during prime time. When we really need is a new swim bar!.. yes that happened.
Hello fellow Clerics - what level 10 gear should one be aiming for?
Shame, are the status effects guaranteed or are they a % chance?
Clerics what main weapons u using??
whats the best class race combo
jk
how squishy are you when starting out as a caster
super squishy, but you are not forced to wear light armor... although its stats are usually good for caster types
you can wear heavy armor which usually gives more phys kinda stats and be doing less magic dmg but have a lot more defense
You can also mix an match if you choose
the one thing I would have liked to known first time, pick a ranged weapon and melee weapon as when you level by killing mobs it raises those weapon levels equally. You might wanna grab all the various starting weapons in the riverlands starting area and see what you like
does everyone start in the same area, or their respective home cities
like as a mage, I really have grown to love the shortbow... so I like to go with a magic dmg dealing an stat shortbow and a greatsword
Currently you can choose anvils or riverlands
cool
its purely cosmetic at this point and I believe it will mostly stay that way
great thanks
is rogue fun? who's more mobile ranger or rogue? i love gathering so that means lots of running around and killing mobs around and if things get spicy to gtfo, who's better for that?
I'd say Rogue is the more mobile one, and is excellent for gathering
rogue is way more fun, it's a newer class with a better design, Ranger still needs reworks to get to that point
The only gripe I have as a ranger is that I use more mana than a mage
I love the spell greatsword for mob farming, spell shortbow for mana regeneration during big combat
Can the cleric use a shield atm
Rogue is op broken. Ranger is an oom turret that loses to all classes and is the most immobile class besides cleric.
Ranger needs a complete remake imo, worst class for all content
Hello, which weapons are actually the best for cleric ? I supposed scepter / book but I've seen some guides using greatsword / book. Do you have any preference and why ? Thanks a lot
If you planning to use range over melee, then the greatsword is basically there for a stat bump. I like the book personally, but it’s slower and has splash damage. Wand and focus is great though
AURA
yeah rogue is the play for sure, i wish they'd change ranger to actually support melee/ranged hybrid instead of just being archer with an aoe root but i've accepted that wont happen with the way their classes are role silos
personally archer kinda feels like a mage rn, they took a lot of inspiration from archeage archer archetypes but didnt go all the way with the player agency that let you kite at full speed, theres a lot of cast times where the slow feels like it might as well be stationary and shortbow doesnt feel that different compared to longbow since longbow has an attack speed buff in its weapon tree
and physical speed isnt a stat that you really need a shortbow to get a lot of, its mostly just a more mobile auto attack
give me primeval/ebonsong, let me kite
and that might be a hot take but i feel like its what made archeage archer feel so much better than like a wow hunter, it wasnt just a stand back and press buttons class it actually took some degree of mechanical skill
I think shortbow needs a reduced slow during casts in its skill tree, and the camera angle need to be a bit more forgiving on canceling skills
At least for ranger
It is very apparent which archetypes were designed first, and which were designed more recently. I'm sure an update pass is planned for ones like ranger, which frankly feel lackluster.
This is true but I feel that what I'm saying also isnt specific to ranger even tho Its the most heavily affected, it's that the player agency feels somewhat lackluster, camera angle to target feels restrictive, and lateral movement speed needs to be increased for all classes imo, I'd use archeage or even wow as a reference for how you can sort of kite at an 80-90 degree angle to your target and just have a lot of freedom/agency despite the restrictions of a tab target system
Most classes and abilities just feel a little too tunnel visioned like I have to look straight ahead to do anything
Anyone can tell me what the Siphoning Regeneration talent is from the ranger tree - I really want to put a point into it but it feels so useless
usually i just put regeneration on tank, idk if the siphoning point is worth but its 5% lifesteal for ur tank
Dear Intrepid,
Please add epic galoshes to the game so my fighter can safely wade through all the blood he spills. Thx
How come it’s excellent for gathering? Just started playing and have a level 8 rogue. Trying to figure out how crafting/gathering works so I’m glad you say this haha
This this blue bar that surrounds my class icon courage?
yes, when you open skill menu with K, on the right side you can mouse over the passives your class has
Because stealth is awesome \o/
Does gathering not deactivate your stealth??? I thought it did when I tried yesterday
it does when you pick it up
It doesn’t deactivate for hunting only
Wait what
So you can gather anything you want in stealth, but when you loot the item you drop stealth? And for hunting you stay invis?
Nope.
If you mine or lumberjack you will go out of stealth as soon as you start gathering
If you hunt you won’t
The rogue benefit is being able to sneak past mobs to be able to farm, not do so under their noses. And even then, higher level mobs will see you in stealth.
It has its use cases, but it isn't massively better at it, and other archetypes have strengths as well like bard's consistent hyper mobility to move between resources quickly.
Is Bard really viable?
I don’t play bard but theoretically, yes. Most every livestream and video of group content has a few bards because the buffs and support are so good
You need bard in every group as mana battery
Bard is arguably the best class in the game
Does anyone know the distribution of classes in current phase? what is popular? I played tank in phase 2 and loved that it was easy to get grps
holy shit this is so laggy
Anyone got any good Bard guides? Just curious of the mechanics of some things and would like to see what people wrote up
There's a few videos out there, but I don't know about direct guides. If you have questions, just ask
Sephilite Guardian - every few seconds they go away from me (TANK) and aoe attack me including all melee dps and then after 2seconds they come melee again.
Anything i can do against that?
Feels a bit odd and chaotic tanking these
I see a bunch of clerics for the most part
Look for @cedar crane on youtube
That's just going to be the different mob behavior. Like if everyone is in melee range of the Zombies that spit the evil green stuff, they will only melee attack and not spit. Got to hug them to death, which is a problem if you pull other mobs that you want to spread out for.
Sounds like the other melee Archetypes need to learn to backup/pay attention for the mob you are talking about to not be in the AOE.
Ye, but im hugging them, they still will take 4 steps back, aoe attack me and then come in melee again
I guess thats just how they are intended, just can get on my nerve sometimes
The Sephilite Guardians all like to backup to do their aoe better and can get stuck in walls.
If you are fighting them as a Tank, your back should be to the open and let the mob back up a bit while they do that attack and it doesn't hit anyone else. Range auto it during that time and then go back to melee and skills.
All mobs are kind of a trade off of what you want to deal with and will probably only get more noticeable once we can get our max lvl up to 30, 40, and finally 50
the most important one by far is Intimidating Aura
unless they changed its threat generation, it was insane
Yeah but it doesn't really do a lot of damage
Right now all my attacks are just single target
in a group setting it’s still the best one, the threat gen is incredible
for damage you get the ground slam later, at low levels you have the alternative versions of pulverize and shield slam
they both have aoe versions
tbf I haven’t played tank since phase 2 so I might be wrong about everything
I feel like a lot of Ranger spells would benefit if it triggered on hit effects or speed up your ranged weapon finishers.
But since Rangers are free to use things like Physcial Books it defeats the purpose.
i'm having doubts, i'm mostly solo player, started as ranger because i tough that dealing with mobs would be easy alone and since i wanted to do gathering, having movement speed buff will be beneficial. but now for some reason i just don't enjoy the class, it's bad, i just spent a lot of tiem on gear, reached level 12 and i'm still worst in the group, less hp then anyone else, lots of misses even with raven buff, feels bad, maybe i should switch to cleric? would be easier to find groups that way as well
If you're mostly a solo player, I recommend rogue or fighter. Rogue has multiple means to get health regen in combat, mana, and has multiple escape tools.
Fighter if you manage to slug your way through the early levels becomes a powerhouse when you finally get access to lifesteal.
Or wait till SoonTM Summoner
Surely summoner will be crisp and polished with no bugs and not be either ridiciously over tuned/under tuned
Ranger needs a re-work.
CLASS: Fighter, SKILL: Blood Fusion. I am under the impression that over 6 seconds whatever damage I do is given back to me as 100% health and 50% mana. When I look at this my lethal blow does 100 damage but only gives me 3 health back. Am I misunderstanding the skill and usage of it. Or is this maybe a bug? Hope someone can clear this up for me so I make sure to utilize the skill correctly.
we can dream right?
We can
i have been using my logging axe in stealth the past few days it only drops when im looting

that should be illegal right
why would it be illegal
while archers have to kill all mobs and their family around the node, someone is just stealth farming and then running away
then you are bugged
because for me it's instant drop
as soon as i start the animation
ok well im sorry about that for u but asking for a ban for something like that is crazy lol. To me it seems like ur just upset cause your bugged.
lol i didnt know i was like wtf did i do it aint like im killing raid bosses while they are standing still not attacking and getting the best loot in the game atm
but yeah, i was raging in chat yesterday that mobs just start respawning again and agro on me while i try to get the resource
after killing all of them just to get the resource
it does that for me to if the mobs catch me i can only do it if the mobs are blue
Please disable World Bosses to spawn every reset. Items are flooding in and ruining the whole P3 balance.
P3 balance is already dead and buried.
On the drops side, the people who used totally legitimate gameplay methods that coincidentally nobody can do now have already farmed the shit out of them.
On the crafting side, people have been camping static nodes for two weeks and filled all their storages with legendary mats from said static spawns.
The goose is cooked. You can't un-cook it.
You got healed for 50 from lethal blow
Shouldn’t the 50 be below it. It makes it seem as if hemorrhaging did it
Wanna make sure I’m reading it right
Possibly just bugged
Should be
Skills working just the log that’s fucky. Earlier I was fighting a Minotaur and it was giving me damage from a mushroom dude.
Appreciate it.
clerics u running heavy armor?
i like to mix n match heavy and light for resistance. and trying to get stat passives i need
how r people building bard, as healers or as dps mainly? Trying to decide if I want to build healers weapons or dps weapons
Mana bard is the default for a group.
If mana is fine you see if you have enough healing, and go healer bard. You can solo heal if you are geared enough, as long as tank isn’t getting nailed.
Usually healing is fine, so then you go damage bard.
Fuel > being alive > dead enemies
ye i more so mean like, are people building gear with healer stats (crit healing) or dps stats (mag crit)
@glad cloak
i know mana regen is the play
Magic power and max hp, some universal defense.
Stats like crit chance are 50% as effective for healing. Your resonance mana gen can’t crit as far as I know. Haste doesn’t affect gambit, your interrupt or your dances, your melody ticks etc. regen stats are poop imo.
Other stats you will get passively or aren’t worth the effort of min-maxing over, is all I will say anyways
You could be naked with 2 good weapons and you are stronger than 80% of the playerbase.
Going from 120 to 240 power makes you as strong as two people. The value of power is extreme in this game cause there’s no base values for scaling skills
I think these things are widely known among active players anyways
You could specialize and go for healing power. But there’s only like 2 equipment slots where it would matter. And the impact so low to not be worth it. Leave that to the clerics
@glad cloak Thanks for your insight!
bard is superior healer, clerics only around as a res bot. shielding serenade saga and melody all aoe and you get defensive passives for whole group with glee and iirc joy. ive had no problem healing whole group when cleric dies or dc's
true, all clerics are weeb scum
The world of anime healers is full of dainty, shy young girls who just want to help and make everyone feel good and happy and be friends with everyone.
MMO healers are sick of you standing in the red and are THIS close to just doing the rest of the raid by themselves. You're only alive because they want you alive.
Thanks to my Patreon and Twit...
its not that. they have some great single target healing but. alot of times its over healing and a waste especially with some of the cast times. ive played both and they are both good.
As far as ranger goes. Are we in the longbow or shortbow camp
As ranger? I'm in the physical book camp
well its your lucky day, plenty of level 20 phys books for like 5g
Doesnt the books scale on magic dmg for combo attacks? or is the tooltip wrong?
One would think so but during P2 I couldn't see a noticable difference. In fact the Book's combo finisher slapped the Longbow out of the water, but Longbow does have the range advantage and isn't going to accidentally pull aggro from extra mobs by accident
If it scaled on magic damage, then all of the magic bows that bards use etc. would have to scale on physical... I don't see them doing that
I swear some of the book later nodes do. Like arrow storm
but thats about all I ever noticed with spellbows
Hey what are some tank tips you guys have?
That are specifically unique to this game and this class, not necessarily general tank tips as I've played tank roles in other MMO's
have hands and play with people who have hands
otherwise you will have a bad time
dying is punishing
I would say the biggest difference from other MMOs is the active block, it can really save your ass from a big hit or buy the healers enough time to get shit under control again
and yeah, what Daven said, you will be the first to die every fuckin time, so befriend good healers and stay the fuck away from healers without hands, your wallet will thank you
no fun dying 3-4 times and paying 20 silver in repairs
before you block you should dodge obv you need to know when to dodge
yeah, some abilities have a very narrow hitzone, so its enough to take two steps to the side, not worth blowing half you stamina bar
Wait you can dodge attacks?
Like I know dodge roll is a thing, but thought that just gave iframes
not only positional dodge, there are i-frames in the dodge
well, the main objective of the dodge is to move you out of the hitbox right?
but with good timing you can iframe target cast projectiles
Ok, cause what I was taught in other MMO's is not to move around too much because then your DPS/Healers AoE's may not hit the enemy depending how they're grouped up
this is a good point, but you learn to be situational with your judgements with experience right
this is just "you should know" tips
Ok
technically not iframes it gives you just 100% evasion
Ah ok
there are hard hitting abilities that can and should be dodged
which are learned on a mob by mob basis
but they are normally pretty quickly learned I feel
for example heavy slash or whatever its called from marauders it hits quite hard
party members can/should also be ccing them
I haven't encountered any yet in the game, closest was the ravens divebomb attack, which does 100-130 damage
silence/interupt, trip/knockdown/stun/incap ext
or some casting abilities, say firestarters do flame through that does a flame puddle beneath you which you could dodge to either get out or place the puddle not in meele range
usually that cast will/should be cc tho
I would say the biggest tip to be a tank is get very familiar to your skillset. Like chain/pull thing can pull 1 mob from a pack without social aggro/linking others, and thats important to do.
or in pvp when you see a dumbass ranger snipe in front of you, you can dodge roll it
if you go oakenbane you might encounter the dudes with big 2h sword chopper i believe they are called they do a heavy cleave attack which is a cast so you should dodge it
sometimes they spin as well but it will follow you, so be mindful ideally root him
Ok
they will also use "Miniacal laughter" after which they channel a whirlwind. A good bard should silence it right after negating that but, if they don't / get reistsed, you gotta dodge it out of the party. Or it'll kill all melee/anyone channeled on.
goblins are annoying in general because they "Rally" then will drop all aggro and just, roll around to headbutt people at random.
This is not a tanks fault I think, just them being what they are
Me, chains and CC's what I can
they roll around and headbutt like 2-3 times before they resume normal activity
idk if its a temp threat drop or a just, flatout threat drop
I know threat on AoC is weird, mostly taunt based I feel but I legit have never played tank, just hwat I've osmosis'd from partying
Definitely seems damage based giving my readings on tank so far. Almost all tank moves have 100%+ threat generation
maybe thats it. I know tanks also very gear dependant, or feels it. Could be part of that too
Yeah tanks also seem very gear dependent too
One of my biggest issues on tank is how majority of abilities cancel auto combo's, which I feel hurt it a lot
Cause it seems tanks rely on those finishers A LOT for maximum potential
Eh not really, it does for every class btw with some instantcast abilities exceptions
Well one of the finisher stuff is ward, and idk about you but that's VERY helpful. I noticed a difference
I know the finishers its decent but not so much so that you cuck yourself, manage it
ward is useless. even if you have 10000 health it would only be 100 overshield which is easily destroyed so not even to mention the 5k that most are sitting at currently which is 50 overshield
50 heal every 3 seconds isn't terrible. I think it can double too
It's the sum of it's parts:
- heal DoTs
- class shield spells
- Ward weapon passive
- (option) life steal gear/consumable
Anyone got a good build for Ranger?
any experienced rangers around? i want to ask you about your experience at max level
How is the dmg in pve?
Do you find use for all marks on only 1-2 are good?
What the time to kill in pvp? are you missing/criting a lot?
How fast you die in pvp?
Scenario's are different. All depends on gear, what mobs, what pvp scale etc.
worst class in pve, pvp is fine
To iterate ahead of time, there are many scenarios regarding the type of mob that is being fought, is it fully geared vs fully geared groups, et cetera. But assuming all things equal here's my take.
How is the dmg in pve?- Compared to Mage, Rogue, Fighter, they're sadly the worst of the bunch when it comes to group play. They can do a lot in terms of securing the first touch on a named boss or other mob with their bear trap, but beyond that, they tend to have a hard time when it comes to a dps race between two 8 man squads. I won't say it isn't possible to win, but they need some help that is for sure. They are a favorite for solo/duo players to go hunt and take down named to farm items though, so I'll give that as a -technical- plus.
Do you find use for all marks on only 1-2 are good? It depends. There's a lot of different scenarios.
What the time to kill in pvp? are you missing/criting a lot?- PVP is fine for them, cause all their different traps they can lay down are nice ways of creating soft cc to bait/force cc breaks and cleanses. Time that an enemy could be spending actually doing damage/healing, whatever. They tend to get dropped in favor of rogue/mage who just does their job better in almost every way right now.
How fast you die in pvp?- About as fast as anyone, they don't really die early, but they'll get wiped once the bard/clerics are down and there's little to nothing they can do about it.
Thank you a lot! Sad to hear about pve 🙁 hopefully they change something, when it comes to marks, does pen work in pve?
what is main stat for rangers? dex or str?
and also should i go max crit chance or pen on wep passives? or both
mate went with with shortbow/2h-axe full crit and is loving it
100%
Either or, you can go full phys power if you want, or you can go for crit/pen/whatever. There are "BiS" items or whatever, but they're slowly adding multiple types of good sets. Like right now you have a couple places at 25 that are great for Ranger. You can go to Carph and try there, you can try in the Jundark, you can also go to the Brood Pit in the desert.
guys, mage or rogue rn
Group or solo type player?
Prefer pve or pvp?
Crafter / gatherer?
Very vague question u got there
Group eventually, solo now
both

What's the best class to play solo? pve/gather
Rogue. You get a grappling hook at later levels, and early on you can use your stealth, and harvest. It won't break stealth until after the bar has finished gathering the item, and usually if you're quick enough you can just restealth even in dangerous areas.
Rouge is also RP as a solo player anyways
Mmm and it's good for grinding in PvE? for multiple pulls i mean, solo target probaly has a lot of dmg
And how works that thing of the steal and gathering, sometimes it break my steal and others dont
Stealth duration timing out?
Nope
Sorry for the quality, i needed to low bitrate, fps, and resolution to get a clip which i can put here in discord
@mighty nimbus have you looked at Enchanter from EQOA or EQ at all when considering group utility for Summoner?
Damage was a subset of skills used but they had some mana battery capabilities like bard.
for healer... best off hand weapon? reason?
how yall feeling about fighters, they out the loop now with rogues in?
no?
Coming from a rogue that used to play fighter. Fighter is still a badass. More sustain, can take a hit better, more hp. Just doesn't have anywhere near the utility the rogue does. An average fighter is better than an average rogue but the skill ceiling for rogue is much higher and you can pull of some crazy stuff that the fighter cant.
Rogue is best when no one is paying attention to the rogue
Small scale pvp? Great! Have your cleric, tank, and mage, all grab attention of enemy team. Then, let the rogue sneaky sneaky behind them and kachow
anyoen do the math on processing mats and taxes for a JM tool?
maybe someone in #alpha-two-artisan-chat ?
Worst class in the game, that's about it.
damn is it still bad in PvP?
its not
Well, there were no balance changes in months
Came to ask about fighter but it seems like someone already asked today lol
fighter is good
Fighter is bad
what makes it good or bad?
high dmg, sustain and and pressure
bad is that ur quite gear depended because you dont have the defensives as a rogue and also not the mobility or the cc
gotcha so rogue just over all performs better
they dont have the same dmg but rogue kits is quite better
also lot harder to play well
Being melee without good defensives outside of life leech. Also being essentially a melee mage. Fighter has cast times on several important abilities that easily miss moving targets. All Fighter has is CC spam (but 2 CCs = 10 seconds of immunity on the enemy), decent damage and short duration life leech.
Rogue has a complete kit. Fighter is like a slapped together first iteration.
fighter has high base hp
Ty, i was going to reroll fighter and start down south. I made my rogue up north, but if thats how fighter is I'm just going to figure out how to get my rogue south.
translates to what, 200-300 more HP than a mage at lvl 25?
should be 500+
How are Clerics in pvp?
Summoners in yet? Or was it pushed out?
Summoner will probably be coming mid november.
good
Do they have killing power or just pure support? I assume their movement is bad.
they only have wings as movement ability, they do have some killing power but you cant delete people
best think you could do is to stack up burning and go for insta judgement smite before you prepop silence (though idk if circle is fixed yet)
I generally play the paladin like classes. Think ret in wow. Big melee, but solid support. Should I pivot to fighter?
play whats fun for you if you wanna play as dmg then dont play cleric its a healer
Fighter feels more like a ret paladin for sure
I love playing support. I just dont like leveling support when you have no ability to kill anything.
in 1v1 you are actually quite strong by just being able to outsustain
as pve you can actually solo aoe farm though only by lower level mobs who dont hit as hard
you just meele them down and use circle/wave on repeat and heal yourself
its very gear depended how much you can pull
Indeed, cleric is very capable of solo grinding
Hmm. If I got the other route, does Fighter have any support or ability to heal still? In phase 2 they had some leech abilities if I remember.
the kit itself is unchanged just some interactions are different now
Fighter has a self healing ability but you do not gain access to it until relatively high level.
You're going to spend quite a few hours grinding without it is the point. So if you want something with sustain from the outset, it isn't the play.
Okay. I have a friend that just purchased the alpha and is really interested in the Bard. Is either of them a good pairing with a bard?
anything is good with a bard
Both cleric and fighter would pair well with bard. But as a pair, cleric + bard is going to have a way easier time getting into grinding parties.
I would argue it is the stronger pair for duo grinding as well. With proper gameplay and resource management you will be able to sustain forever and take on relatively difficult enemies safely.
Cool. Only other question, is anything just broken right now. Is any class just op or under performing?
None of them are particularly OP, none of them are nonviable.
But yeah probably 8 out of 10 people would say that bard is "the best class" at the moment overall.
The gap isn't enough to be like "you should play class X and forget class Y" though.
Nimble dance alone makes it insanly broken
Well, my alt has always been a rogue. Maybe I should play that lol.
Rogue and bard have a higher skill ceiling within their kit as their kits are more fleshed out
Rogue has a lot of buttons to press
But again, as a pair cleric+bard is probably the best possible combo of 2 that you could have in terms of what you can reliably fight and how easily you can find groups.
I generally like the heavy armor, big 2 hander style. Are clerics in heavy armor generally or light?
This is an alpha tryout stuff see whats fun really, dont think about it too hard
They can wear either depending on the situation.
Armor "weight class" should not really be a deciding factor at all because every archetype can wear every type of armor. The type of enemies you are planning to fight is the main factor there.
cool. Ty for info.
For fighters is the gear for them heavy or medium, the loading screen made it look like its leather
Cleric is definitely more Priest-like than Paladin. Fighter has no support whatsoever. So do you want to be a support caster or hit things in melee?
Gear type only determines what type of mitigation you get. Theoretically being an all-Light Fighter is the best choice in PvP, but I don't think there's enough light armor with physical stats out there.
Might be able to make a paladin type when secondary classes come out but not right now
You have a macro at this point to ref to that comment 😂
not yet
Fighter can get regen as early as level 7 with form of fluidity. But , Momentum builds slowly and drops quickly. You need the fastest attack speed to build Momentum to 100%. Thus, Shortbow with 1H/Shield or 1H/Focus, generally the longsword. Daggers can work as well.
I've never in my life have seen so many inaccurate statements in my life regarding fighter 😆
The recipe is broken, it should have some processed wood included in it going by the trend of recipes for App tools. Even if you could correctly guess and have the right wood, without it there to add it, it won't work. All the Metal JM tools are broken atm. Hopefully a fix for them in 13 ish hours.
If bards didn't have nimble dance then ranger root would be op. They bring balance to eachother
Dex fight with daggers. Was literally 2.5
Because of the stats
Meele weapon literally does not matter outside pve abit but even then no one cares
And you use longbow
And the fluidity regen is pretty ass
The evasion is pretty neat if you do solo stuff tho or your tank dies
Pretty much only use the regen to stance swap to when running between fights for that itty bitty bit of extra stuffe
Liked it in phase 2. with 2 pieces of lifesteal gear and rotating your cds properly you could pull a shit load
What is the best DPS clas so far on this alpha?
Elabortate please 😉
bard
My tank and fighter have no problem with solo content that is level appropriate it just seems they are gear dependent. The sustain on a fighter is great once you hit level 10 and the tank can take a beating and survive multiple mobs just fine.
whats the most annoying archetype in pvp ? Someone you dont want to attack ?
mine is cleric in heavy armour with spellsword, shield and spellbow, should be close 🙂
What xD Support has best dps?! xDDDDD
im more after who you dont want to attack solo, cause it too annoying... can be that it lasts too long, can be that its equal for hours...
i want to do a hunter and need an archetype that can kill solo (hasnt to be fast)... and first of all survives
pretty sure, my cleric isnt that bad for that
Same applies to carpentry tools.
i mean honestly thats gonna be based on skills but most annoying ive personally watched. Bard. watched a mfr go 3deaths -20kills on a 8 man group solo
That is because Bard has multiple means of self sustain, and you can single a one man group target out of a fight for like what? 20+ seconds or so between Marionette and Mesmer dance?
no he was against a whole 8 man team lol
marionette is 10 secs
no fighting indiviually
ah, messmer dance
i play a bard too, but only low
oki, back to game, have to write down the whole warhelm curse question line
Tanks...
Tanks. Cause they're literally just a damage sponge that sits there and barely contributes to combat.
Unlike pvp in say EQ2, where they could use their threat generation to forcibly drag your tab target to them if you aren't paying enough attention to switch it back, in this game there is no such mechanic, so as a tank you can do nothing other than throw out a couple of trips a/o stuns and wait for the enemy in an 8v8 scenario to wipe your squad and save you as the delicious crab whose shell they have to break at the end like some signature dish.
hm, two spots are filled already and i always play mages and love pet playing... tank sounds nice, ill give it a try
Video?
self heals, control, good dps
Question was about dps not self sustain, survi or overall class skill possibilities 😛
can't dps if you're dead
Is the game still going the main / sub class system or is that gone?
yes it is but we need all 8 "main classes" first
started a tank now just to try... never thought its so much fun, was expecting to regenerate more than fighting... i play with 2hsword and longbow atm
Most of the time I don't want to attack a fighter
Not because their good but because I feel bad they are also playing fighter
Fighters are like a platapus we don't do much
Most annoying classes, realistically bards and rogues.
2 of the most mobile classes in the game however rogue is the best 1 vs 1 class in the game uncontested
you got me wrong, im no good pvp player anymore, too old for fast reflexes... i dont look for the best pvp char, i look for a pve char thats extremely annoying to attack for pks
You are never to old for pvp bro
I'm 30 😂
Peaked in elementary school
im 60+ 🙂 reflexes arent what they used to be...
still like pvp, but i have no chance against a 25 old good pvp player who plays a fast char
if i do the same
I’m not as old as you but I’m old still GM in OW playing tracer
Just gotta drink a lot of redbull
And don’t waste energy on work or family
im privateer now, family is well, so i got time 🙂
but back to chars, pretty sure ill do a cleric for what i need... as hunter (especially for mounts) i just need to live and do decent damage...
but maybe im only the cook, another profession i like
no but if you run into spell watch out XD
if ur bad at it*
that goes for all the classes really
In all the MMOs I've played it's always been really annoying to try to duel tanks and healers, they are almost immortal in duels. Probably will be the same thing in this game
It's ok to be delusional
i wouldt say so but you do you
I went here to find out how bad the bard is. Last ten chapters in this chat says otherwise. (New player) Just created my toon yesterday - Bard
They are extremely flexible as a class. Level 13 when you unlock your saga is also a huge moment. Because it's right around that time where unless you're somehow heavily geared as a level 10, the mana provided by your melody and resonance should no longer be keeping up with the mana output of other classes.
Bard is the best class, we just need the instrument feature to play troll music and it’s perfect.
Its the strongest class in the game

Gotta say, crafting in this game makes albion look like a tutorial. Holy is this really necessary?
Grandma!
I think the only character that beats bard is just the rogue for sheer damage output a/o disable time.
not really dmg output just so no class can beat rogue 1v1 lol
esp magic classes with umbral cloak shenanigans
this is a question about item and stats (related to cleric).
is the power ratio 1:1?
This might be completely wrong (cause noob) but my understanding was power -> mag power -> healing power
they all provide the same benefit to healing power but items will typically have more healing power to compensate (or not even have access to the above, broader tiers).
its not 1 to 1 you can see it if you hover over the stats but there are also dr's
okay, so there's a lot of nuance to it then. but for a cleric is it just as simple as "stack healing power"
or does DR hit really quickly
somewhat yea
generelly speaking its not so much so that you dont want a certain stat at some point
its just that other stats become more valuable at it
good to know, thanks
Anyone got a good video or website giving some good breakdown of Archetypes? I just got the game 1 min ago!
google ashes of creations archetypes. there are multiple sites
so i have seen some tips of builds for archtypes on few websites such as metabuild ashescodex etc. just all of them r such different that dont know which one to focus on for rogue
This is test not game. There will be more resets. And more things releasing. Last class per Steven scheduled to appear ptr Oct 7. Suggest just having fun and explore
It's all going to continue to change. Last class coming to ptr per Steven oct7 then we have class rework then sub classes then possibly more rework were also waiting on level increase 25 is not max it's just current stopping point
You misunderstand. It's magic power, magical power rating, healing power, healing critical
Power if referring to physical power has not scaling with healing
Magic power gives rating it's like 1:3 or something then you also have finishing return
Im more than happy to discuss rogue builds at some point with you. I do really enjoy testing new ways to build characters.
You get used to it pretty quick.
Same idea as Albion really though, collect raw, process, craft.
Just need mats to process too
Ifi'm trying to decide whether to use a wand - if so what would be my off hand?
And which is faster finisher a Wand or a shortbow?
for rogue's ranged weapon, would you go for shortbow or longbow and why?
Preference and or finishers
Range
Can someone explain me for how many seconds Thump Skill applies the Dazed status? Because it’s not specified in the Skill description.
I dont really pay attention to it honestly. The silence is the more important part. I think it lasts the same as the silence though.
Nintendo filed a patent for summoning a ‘little monster’ or sub character to fight. Is ashes summoner cooked?
It depends—I’m looking at it more from a PvP perspective, and in my opinion, in this case Dazed (Stun) is more important. As a PvP and Assassins/Rogues/Thiefs Class Veteran, first thought that comes to my mind when I see this Skill is using it as a combo with: Thump > Feint > Backstab
Dazed isn't a stun though.
Pretty sure that one is 25% decreased casr speed
Cast
Im built purely for pvp so I get what your going for. That just isn't a stun. We dont have any stuns. We have sleeps, silence, root and with a fair amount of setup a frozen.
Oh we also have a trip
That explains a lot.
I’m just reading all Skills descriptions and I see that we don’t have any stun at all, that’s strange
Rogue without Stuns 🤔
The rest is enough. Honestly a stun would be too powerful
We have a lot of utility and can react to a lot of different situations. That being said we can fuck up pretty easy too lol
It is a high skill ceiling class for sure
Ok now when I read everything I need about "Status Effects" I think I understand the developers approach to Rogues
As long as you don't go fighter you should be good, fighter just won't be in a good place until it's reworked by bucky himself
Or at least overseen by bucky
trip is not a stun?
No its a trip
You have an ability that prevents the opponent from turning around, so that enables more Backstabs
Yeah this is a good one. It also roots
What I dislike most about bard is the song cancels when you mount so if you are attacked and need to dismount you spend the first 2 min buffing. After which, if you are not dead, you can proceed to ownership. Well that and if you are in PVE group mode you are at a greater disadvantage in a PVP fight than other characters, skill being equal.
Yeah. It's painful.
Is the summoner class out yet?
Nope
Rumor has it october has PTR testing, and november is planned alpha 3 push for it
Most awaited update for me, with the Tulnars.
Thank you!
So with luck maybe november
😂😂
fighters lunging assult should work same way as rogues deaths dance or what ever it called it dmgs everyone its passes through, it super buggy sometime u just go stright through the mob and swing on the other side it such a pain 😛 haha need like a little bit extra range for pvp too tbh it just shy of dodge range unfortuately
That abiluty should just get redone, its super ass
is there any calss thats like... criminally underepresented right now?
trying to pick a main(at least until summoner is available) and i am on the fense between bard or fighter, but if something is underrepresented ill pla ythat
Bard cleric tank, everyone will thank you
Cleric
Which is mental because cleric is absolutely cracked as a class
Bard is insane too. Honestly bard cleric and tank are bonkers compared to the dps classes for pvp too, except for the stealthy boi
lets do that
So first question should be i think; problematic of heavy armor-medium armor
Your normal grind party is 1 tank 2 clerics 1 bard (Or 2 bards but as a bard player, I feel this is over rated/not needed but thats me) - so to agree, bard/cleric/tank are the go too's, cleric having extra weighting for leveling 😄
2 is fun for damage scale or maybe heal but otherwise yeah
I guess yeah.
Still completely not necessary though lol
I'd say 2 bards, easily, over 2 clerics. Bards can at least run different things. Clerics step on each other's toes fairly hard. You only need enough heals to heal nonavoidable damage. If your group is good enough, the things that will lead to wiping or tank deaths will kill them no matter how many clerics you have.
I feel like 2 clerics is an absolute must in any high level dungeon like forge/carph and above. Because you just can't take that risk where if the cleric dies suddenly it requires a full scale reset fighting your way back to the beginning in order to pick them up cause nobody can ress them.
If the two bards are good and always keep a gambit available for either the tank or the cleric this isn't techically an issue, but the bard for all their tools can't solve instant death in the event the cleric was grazed by some 1 shot aoe or other skill a high level mob threw at the party.
I've seen cases in forge where we pulled two berserkers at once and they just happened to choose our cleric as the target and threw their axes simultaneously. Like there is just no reacting to that. Just.. death.
And that's coming from a level 25 bard myself.
If I'm your cleric, you only need me 😎
Don't get me wrong, you can pull off one cleric, but they better know what they're doing and have good positioning.
There are some very goated clerics out there I have met.
In a random pug, I see your point. As the skill level of the group rises the second cleric becomes obsolete. The wasted party slot as a potential backfall for something bad happening can usually be solved with more dps and far more efficiency.
I hate pugs so much
A second cleric isn't going to let you heal stupid. If the tank stands in 8 fulminations, you can have 6 clerics, the tank is dead. If that happens, you can still get a res off and stabalize as a solo cleric.
Agreed.
On another note, I am a bit concerned with summoner, cause if they make the tank pet too strong, what will happen to the identity of the tank? Especially in the early game. Late game there is no replacement for an actual tank, and summoner is assumed to let the reigns go, but I am sort of concerned that the leveling experience for tank will kind of grind to a halt.
Especially for new players.
we know how wow solves tank pets - so will prob be similar - except for the period that they are OP unkillable tanking bots 🙂
Can't wait for bard ranger mix 😍 give Me ebonsong from archeage
Anyone knows the % of magic power contributing to healing power ?
seems like it's 70%
ok ! thank you 🙂
Why would that happen?
As a ranger, which artisan paths should I focus on? I suppose it should be leatherworking for creating my own body items or?
Overall, I would do Carpentry and Leatherwork
Guys as anyone playing tank have problem that sometimes courage stop wrk and finishers and skill gain 0 of it?
Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask.
I'm a tank and I play sword + shield.
I don't know if I should go with heavy armor or medium armor.
Which one should I choose?
Thanks!
tanks get tankiness from con "health" heavy armor has bonus set for that.
Ok
Is medium armor good for tanking with a sword and shield?
This is a dumb question, but I coulndn't find it anywhere.
Is the Spell-greatsword affected by:
A - Phys Speed
B - Mag Speed
🙏🙏🙏
its a good question actually, prior i was told it was affecting by phys speed, there wasn't mag speed stat but casting speed. with p3 phase it should be affected by mag speed
if its working properly
I mean the stat shows "Mag Power" and "Mag Speed"
So
My concern is if swings based on mag speed and not phys speed
concern? are you not a magic class
Yes, but bards rely partly on finishers to deal dam, so faster attac = DPS
yes so you should be good (if it works correctly)
I'm thinking of staccking Mag speed on my gear as well hence
im no bard player so i cant really tell you about that if its a good idea or not
i would wary from ai esp on a game that is still in alpha and not that known yet but the text looks like it has an actual data source haha
Yes, it even knew about resonance (which I didn't indicate at all) The bread and butter DPS core of the bard.
I shoot for about 110% mag speed with a wand on Bard. It feels really good at that point especially cause mag speed helps all the other actions to get the resonance even faster
hello fellow bards.. what weapons are you using at 20+ in terms of type.. i'm 10 now and using book/2h mace just by fact of finding a decent one but looking through some of the later books and such idk if that's the way to go in the future
I'm also in the same boat I'ma level 5 bard just restarted because I didn't like the area I chose now I'm farming again trying to build a DPS bard with wand focus and great sword, but gear is impossible to find wondering if anyone has any tips as well
yeah wand goes brrrrt with the extended finisher on bard + alacrity lmao.
Shortbow feels more optimize tho, plus it's so imbalanced to gear up with wand+offhand focus with the economy right now vs just a spellbow IMO.
It's my first time playing the game too, you will suffer not having a decent weapon till lvl 10 like the rest of us XD
If I were to restart, I'd go shortbow/longbow + any 2hand melee you like
(Care to distinct Phys vs Mag weapons btw)
Yeah other weapons are a bit easier to get the math done on. I like wand focus to help make sure I get stats exactly where I need them. Also most focus aren't hard to craft. Wands are a bit crazy though lol
I remember phase 1 or 2 I forgot I did a tanky now bard solod mobs with ease but idk if bow is the play still
I'm thinking of what is worth jus trying to get weapon exp early and stuff
Even if you switch at 25 to a new weapon, you'll level it fast. I swapped to one handed sword at 18, got the sword to level 17 before I hit 20.
Weapons will level quickly
Ello, curious are there go-to weapon types for a rogue atm or it doesn't matter much?
Yeah right now basically anything is viable. It's just a matter of figuring out the stats you want and then figuring out what weapon suits you best. Like that spears have a lot of range which could be helpful for rogue
well for meele weapons no it does not matter at all beside pve which is irrelevant in pvp the ranged weapon matters
as thats the one weapon you are actually using
and ranged weap is mostly longbows across the board because the extra range with some exceptions
Rogues will absolutely be using melee weapons in pvp. What are you talking about?
i wanna see the rogue thats starts unpacking meele finisher combos in pvp
A rogue with daggers after a push will get a finisher off faster than with long bow giving them advantage faster to then do more abilities
so you want to go in meelerange and start auto attacking people who conveniently not move instead of using abilities 🤨
It's both and situational? Especially for rogue
ignoring the fact that finishers are mostly normalised though stats are obv diff but that aside
What do you mean normalized through stats?
abilities reset your auto attack sequence beside some instant cast so not really
i didnt said through
Then what do you mean by normalized? I don't have a whole lot of time on rogue, but I know finishers can give rogues advantage and certain weapon types favor more speed over power giving you faster animations to get finishers off quicker cause it's the same thing for Bard which I do play
a finisher is a sequence of attacks some weapons have more attacks such as daggers or shortbow and some has less as longbow but the time to finish your weapon combo its roughly the same across the board
shortbow and daggers tend to give more phys/magic speed which does decreases the time til you finish the combo
i havent played bard so im not sure but dont they use shortbow and wands due to the application on hit?
Yes, but I focus on getting magic speed up to decrease the time it takes to get a finisher off as well as decreasing the cast bar of any channel attack and to decrease animations of instant abilities as my way of doing more damage is getting more resonance faster. All I'm saying in is what melee you have does matter since they also vary what kind of stats they can have. Having a long bow is good, but if you rush in as a rogue and you need advantage quicker, you'll probably get a finisher faster with a dagger then resetting to distance and hitting with long bow
Think the important question to bring up here is how much pvp you've done? Because group pvp in ashes greatly leans towards range play.
Lots, but again I play Bard as main with only a little PVP with rogue. My focus for both is actions per minute as both require a lot of input to be better
That's a very useless thing to say
not really its mainly about stat gain
Except there's plenty reason to take more speed over power
There's plenty reason to take evasion over defense
that depends on the actual stat gains
It is about learning what you like and balancing what's effective. But just saying higher number better isn't true especially with diminishing returns
I don't remember what those actually turn into off the top of my head, but I may take more evasion
If someone's evasion puts them higher than anothers accuracy the chance for them to miss starts going way up
im not saying its 100% the truth but over 90%
^ i dont like going in circles
Again, saying higher number is better is just not a good and useful thing to say
Nah I'm fine with arguing about it, not enough people have played around with stats outside of higher power =better which is not the case with this game. Definitely helpful but not required
but it is for the vast majority of the time
So is there a good guide for playing Bard as a Mana support? Especially early on?
It's a little rough for mana Bard to maintain a full party that is leveling, especially if fighters and mages are involved. Once you can unlock your themes (books at the second from top) getting wonder and making sure to build resonance and get the stacks off and you'll be fine
I think it's level 11 or 12 when you can get your first theme ready
Whoisroxis has a yt guide afaik
Lol rogues gotta go melee range to use melee abilities ofc. But you'd still see them with sbow/lbow regardless. Game needs to implement some advantages with holding melee weapons in pvp to be viable, otherwise, there's no reason not to use a bow/wand.
a bit outdated tho + heavily leans on PVE mechanics, but that's where I'd start.
