Well one thing to think about
There is supposed to be only 4 themes called augment schools for a single secondary archetype
What 4 themes will the secondary mage have if they already have Flame, Frost, Teleport
Lightning
Ok where does wind and earth fit in the themes for mage then?
Keep in mind fighter has a very obvious earth magic skill in cataclysm, and when you use the leap you have rocks floating around feet
I just thought of generic elemental magic. Things like gravity, light, dark, earth wind water fire, null, ect.
Clerics - is it better to have Intellect or Healing Power or Wisdom if a ring had only 1 of the stats?

Cleric base stats are laughable. Terrible terrible stats. Max level cleric is like 30+ less stats points than max level of other classes

The thought is for leap into cataclysm but that combo is too slow and cataclysm is bugged and doesn’t proc in ZvZ

Why did they divide Physical and magical block into 2 seperate stat lines? Feels like it convolutes the system into way too many stat lines for defense
Because physical and magical defense are two separate things?
But at the same time, someone focuses attack stats of their type while someone cant focus both defence stat accurately, wouldn't this always lead to attack outprioritizing defence.
Blocking a fireball with a shield or an arrow with the shield should at least absorb some of the shock & damage right?
That is the current issue with damage and defense right now
Especially since strength and intelligence both give penetration

The tanks have the dr to mitigate the damage, everyone has thier gear defenses ignored by penetration
Tanks have a 20% hp buff and 10 seconds of fortify, but ppl can still hit 1.4k through fortify on alot of +8 gear so you get enough stabs tank goes down
grit reduces physical dmg by around 6% per stack and magical dmg by 3% per stack so its a bit but not a lot

Tanks have that small amount of dr to stay alive just that little bit longer
yes in small scale a bit longer, in large scale that extra 2 seconds xD also apparently penetration doesnt have any cap either someone said, if you go above someones mitigation with pen it gives a damage bonus
Yep, which is why people are getting deleted in few seconds with no counter play
It doesn’t matter how much gear you have or what stats it has
As long as you have the highest mainstat possible and get the jump on your target

3 ppl could be hitting you and you're gone. whereas in TnL you have tanks that can actually front-line and are a threat

I think grapple doesn't go through cuz of other effects but I feel like it should have priority

tanks are only necessary for threat generation and dont offer much else to the game right now

I've heard that spellbook is good for tank+mage parties, is that the 2H spellbook, or what item should I be looking for?
Yeah it's the 2h ranged. Energy is phys, for tank. Regular is magic for mage. It has decently high stats although I'm not sure mages want it over certain wand/focus combos. Tanks like it for aoe ranged autos
yeah, I have a phys 2H book that has a high roll on it (I forget the name), wasn't sure if there was like a 1h or some other option since I'm just a meathead tank 😄
So I'm assuming these ppl think that the chilled procs by spell book help mages but actually in reverse it messes up their rotation. Also you lose out on the 20% side trees that shortbow/longbow give so it's not really better for tank. Of course we don't have journeyman arcane engineering so that could change things
I haven't seen chilled proc in groups, but I'll def keep that in mind. I like that the book is a medium attack speed between shortbow/longbow, but I really need to focus on getting the right sets of things and where I'm investing the xp gain

Shortbow's snared is great for small scale pve, longbow once you max it and build it right hits 1k finishers, book imo is not that great right now
I love shortbow, yes. I'm excited to thoroughly trash my build when we get daggers so I can run a 'fast' tank *while solo
Longbow is the way imo for PvP, the extra damage lets you do the only real useful thing you can do as a tank and "maybe" burst someone down with gauranteed crits and high damage.
longbow is also the best way to get corrupted 🙂
if our abilities worked reliably, and well we didnt fold over in 1.5seconds to a mage or bard.. i'd say there is other useful stuff to do
don't force flag and you'll never corrupt!

Yes and no, the dmg is great but the snare with lack of dealing with debuffs can be crippling

Either or. Just a general feel. I usually play tank.
pvp you are a glass cannon like everyone else bot youare melee and therefore at a disadvantage, your only gimmick is bursting down someone everytime you have your full combo
pve is not bad in term of stats but is boring af and thet new changes regarding grit are awful, you are basically an aggro battery
if you like to feel tanky like i do then the class does not deliver in the slightest

it was one of the first classes made or the first one atcually, so the skills are just not on par with things like bard or even fighter, not to mention rogue
im guessing they will do a major rework to the class since almost every skills is either bugged or useless

Most people will not find you. But you might make friends in the game and develop your own guild if you don't like anything.
Most people are trying to be caravan and pirate oriented.
Other players care about mayorship and social relations.
Some players are doing roleplaying.
No argument against team play. But health potions barely heal for much at all and I thought it would be nice to give people an actual reason to make them

Its just fighter sustain is soooo good, and having aoe skills, they die instantly but so does tank in group content, tanks best skills are self buffs, ground pound & counter
I did a test.
I used protect on the fighter while we were in combat.
And because of blood fusion, they do not die. But my HP continues to deplete. So my fighter can kill me if they take too much damage.
interesting idea of combat, protect to send fighters in for aoe, still think they die though

Rogue skill will force them to not rotate. Then tomahawk can be used in PvE, but not looking good in PvP
yeah tank is missing some sauce in pvp, all our aoe choices are hard to hit in pvp compared to the single target chases

Tank needs passive MR mitigation because they die just as fast in pvp as fighters do.
Just remember. That cleric has skills that are not working. If they can do it you can too!
i have no shot at solo farming a mob of 3/4 at a time in SB farming massive glint by myself..........and I was on Alchemy in Lyneth which didn't go to JM and made me sad....

So I have not started yet, but can you put like, multiple skill points into skills? Making it kind of like your own kind of build
or do you just unlock skills in a non linear path?
There's passives atm that you can put a secondary point into but it only "enhances" your skill atm. Nothing of the real augmenting system that's meant to be coming etc

you were already told it's still weeks away by several people including intrepid employees, if you choose not to listen that is on you.
Has to be fighter, you have self sustain and will kill faster.

I like Shortbow with Longsword/Shield or focus offhand. If you can maintain Momentum , the Fluidity regen is significant. I suggest in this order : Blitz, Lethal Blow, Consuming Lethal Blow, Raging Blitz, and at level 6 get Regenerative Form of Fluidity. Don't bother with Brutal Cleave since Overpower has some cleave built in and it cannot whif, rather it just won't fire if out of range. At level 10 , Form of Celerity lets your Overpower proc Stagger so you can trip with Wallop and follow up with Maim.

tanks don't feel like tanks even when we could get 96% mitigation through a bug they were still tissue paper and didn't feel tanky
if tanks want to PvP they need pretty much a totally different set of gear focusing strength and physical power but the pve skills scale on con and hp
so I second Izzy, fix tanks when, when can we start playing again, tanks aren't fun in their current state really, especially for people who want an actual tanky archetype
just spec dmg and throw hatchets for 2.8k non crits like on tank on my server does
the tomahawk doesnt do 2.8k dmg, its 100% of your physical power + 50% if hit on back, with a 600 power tank thats 900 dmg, not even counting mitigation, i hit for 700 and im high 400phy. You would need around 1900 physical power(not rating), to hit for 2.8k, something no tank can reach.

nope, playstyle variety on archetype level is not existent
cleric is also one of the most boring healer designs I have seen
To not sound totally negative...we are apparently missing a lot of active and passive skills in every archetype, and ability to empower selected skills by spending more talent points in them. So...it is possible the base archetypes, especially those which feel pretty one dimensional atm, might gain some playstyle variety in "near" future 🤷🏻♂️ I will believe it when I see it
Are there any Tank skills that function like Mage Blink?
In terms of movement only.
They got a zoom charge and a hook. Zoom charge is nice for catching birds 100ft in the air

how does the evasion stat actually corelate to evasion percent chance? is it a 1 to 1 evasion rating to percent evasion chance or is it some other scaling?

Everyone knows it's after they fix mend
They have a charge ability that goes a long distance, think longer than blink, but its not instantaneous, but it is free cast.
They also have a leap and maybe another, but those require enemy targets to cast against.
magic power 100%, especially at low levels. Level 50 player may be different but 25 and below definitely go for power.

Can someone give advice on amor for a cleric? Mostly solo but some pure group heals. I see some with heavy armor but don't see any with int. or Wis. (which is better?). I thought medium armor but many are saying otherwise. Thanks.

It says "beginners guide" + it is for PvE not PvP 😉
for gear it depends on if your playing solo, or ina group consistantly. if your solo, that extra armor really helps. if your in a group you want to max magical power over bassically all else. more Mag Pow = more healz = more better clericing. in pve if a cleric is getting hit something went terribly wrong.
this wouldnt fix any of the issues with fighter in ZvZ. problem is survivability since everyone just kinda explodes everyone else, especially mages blowing up people.

Yes
Apprentice is for level 10 bows, Journeyman is for level 20
You need the corresponding level of station to use that level or lower
So Apprentice can make Apprentice, Journeyman can make Journeyman and also Apprentice
The artisan skills increase at level 10/20/30/40/50 of the respective skill
Crafting quality also matters, and is gained through artisan gear, basic gear can be purchased from the appropriate station vendors for now
Better artisan gear can be crafted
what would you say is the best way to level the Carpentry bench, i want to be able to make bows but it seems really expensive
Eventually on release the vendors will go away
almost seems like it better to just buy gear, unless theres a good spot to farm for ranger gear i guess

The JM Carpentry bench is in Winstead then
There are two woodworking places there
The one to the north is Lumbermilling, the one on the hill to the south is Carpentry
The Lumberjacking stuff is down in Azmaran
hmm ok ok
To level Carpentry for your skill, basically just
Go get 3x Lumberjack bags at the highest level you can wear
Fill them with Ash/Oak wood you cut down
Pick one type and stick to it
Save any that's rare or better and process them in batches of 250
Stock up a ton of timber in Halcyon
Fill your bags with timber, then go over to Halcyon when the Bandit Pacification buff is up, become a citizen of Halcyon which requires you to not be a citizen anywhere else and you need to be level 10
Make sure you have acquired a scroll of carpentry XP from the carpentry vendor and have at least novice carpentry clothes, upgrade the clothes/scroll once you hit 10
Then just craft crates with your timber
Several hundred crates later and over 1500 timber and you will have 20 Carpentry
ok ok so i kinda had it right thats what ive been doing but ive been crafting carvans and selling them back to vendor
i didnt know about the extra stuff tho
Caravans are useful in that they won't cost you anything since they sell for a fair bit

I recommend WInstead to get the stuff and then Halcyon to level

The reason is because Halcyon has Bandit buff up near 100% of the time
Plus it has a School of Construction which doubles your crafting XP
Which means you need a TON less mats

Is there another break point at 50? cause it should be 0 - novice, 10 - apprentice, 20 - journeyman, 30 - master, 40 - grandmaster. So will there be there any benefit from 40->50 or am I missing something?
You aren’t missing something, but we all are missing a lot.
They plan to iterate on the current system heavily. Steven talked about making artisan stuff more interactive in a recent interview.
We don’t have a lot of recent data on the plans for the artisan systems.

Each of those weapons act different in how they work, as well as the Bow having a different Skill tree and it's missing the Elemental finishers. Book does AoE dmg, Wand attacks faster, meaning more Elemental finisher procs. Bow also can shoot from an extra 5m range.
In a perfect world with even Magical Power amongst, a Wand/Focus is better. The only problem is it's insanely easier to get a Legendary Long Spellbow crafted right now over trying to get pattern/Mats for Wand/Focus or for the BiS book. Thus we're stuck using the Bow.

Fighter is fine as a class and anyone saying they suck is talking about white-room theorycrafting
Has a bigger healthpool than ranger and mage. Can be good in 1v1s and 1v2s IF you arn't incompetent, get the jump(opener), have the gear to 1-3 shot people. Not that great in raid v raid pvp atm though, ranger and mage kills shit before fighters can do anything significant really.
Can do pretty big group aoe pulls when solo grinding thanks to decent aoe and life leech but still doesn't come close to what a bard can do. Can solo alot of elites in the world. Can become a hero and tank if the actual tank turns out to be dogshit in your dungeon group.
Who knows maybe a patch will make fighters op af one day. 😬
think the main critisism I see about fighter is its lack of mobility in pvp situations, at least in relation to mages/rangers ability to deal damage at range

str and dex make for crazy stats, 35% crit chance with 500 power means ppl die mid 1shot combo
right now theres no need for con sadly, tanks in general lose most attrition fights cause the healing with nerfs doesnt keep up and ttk is so low that 10k effective hp means not alot of difference from 5k with aoes

(3 theme, theme buff assuming you only use 1, song assuming you don’t use multi song, resonance, food, scroll is already 8, pep, glee, shield, and then 11, node buffs, cleric buffs, strider etc. pushes you waaaay over the limit)

@heady fossil i was able to hit a momentary 180% movment on my bard. That was between buffs from melody. Flourish, pep, and doubler if you rotate right you can speed run pretty much indefinitely true speed comes from being able to traverse land and obstacles faster then mounts

Sure, but at least, Clerics, Bards, Rangers and Tanks have some group utility, Heals, Shields, Cleanses, Speed Buff, Roots, Chains, Walls etc. Fighter brings no utility to the group and in a min max comp theres no place for them.

I've mained fighter Phase 1-2 enough to see that without some serious changes Im doing my team a disservice by not swapping to mage (Or any other class). Fighter and the TTk have to be drastically adjusted before it becomes worth slotting fighter in GvG comps. Dont get me wrong it's a fun class and can be good in small groups and 1v1's but in large scale anyone playing fighter is just trolling. Sucks but there it is.
i agree but also i feel like one of fighters biggest weaknesses is that they have to start any combat with no class resource, tank can always start any fight with full resource for a lockdown slam spam but fighters identity skills with berserk cd resets or consumption skills have to somehow build it when you die at any moment
Watching fighters in 1v1 is beautiful, the big sword slams feel so impactful. In gvg it just jumps in and melts xD

Fighters big dmg comes from building momentum and casting Berserk which in PvE is extremely easy to build but in PvP is extremely hard to build that plus the fact that our group trips and snare take too much setup to be useful for group play in the current TTK gives us the bottom slot, were just melee role players living in a ranged meta world.

yes single target trip is nice and single target incap is nice but the aoe trip is set up staggered into set up that long charge
some ppl have enough dmg to survive for a bit with bloodlust up but theres no way to generate enough momentum in 1 bloodlust

Unfortunately there are bigger things to fix than fighters atm. Weapons, TTK and stats need to be looked at. For god sakes, geared clerics and bards are killing people in under 10 seconds with shortbow and wand auto attacks. Does that sound ok to you guys? These are SUPPORT classes with the same or better TTK than actual DPS classes. 😂 (P.S. I main fighter too.)

As someone who is uninformed I wonder if gear and weapons are the issue? Mages and clerics wearing heavy armor but there should be significant consequences to the DPS/healing output if doing so. I know there is a reason such as more play style choices and I am OK with that but all choices should have consequences in equal measure.
The issue is 70% enchanting and 30% a general disparity between offensive and defensive scaling from gear and weapons. Defense scales much better than offense from leveling alone (you get a ton of HP each level) but offense scales absurdly better than defense from gear and enchanting.
Might even be closer to 50-50 honestly. But basically the problem emerged as a result of levels being capped forcing us all to overdo progression in the form of enchanting and legendary crafted gear.
This is very true, its hard to Know what the TTK would actually be at lvl 50 with defensive stats and lvl 50 gear.
However it is clear that lvl 10-25 enchanting and defensive stats needs a rework for them to fall in line with the 30-60 second TTK Steven has talked about
I suspect the same problem would emerge given current balancing. HP seems to scale relatively linearly. We’re probably looking at something like 8-10k hp naked at 50 given current numbers.
The simple answer is for constitution to give HP that scales with level, might not fix the current level 25 problem but I think it’d be helpful generally.
I would tend to agree with that, the enchanting and waterfall stats in general would most likely present the exact same issue
Something like 1 Con = 10 HP + (0.5*level HP)
It’s generally just a weird feeling that leveling gives you like 1 to all stats and a couple hundred hp
The isssue is basically enchanting scales weird after the P1 to P2 stat squish, and defensive stats need to be adjusted in general
I tried a Strength, Con and Mentality route and I was slightly Tankier but that didn't prevent me from getting 2 shot when abilities are critting for 3-4k. If defensive stats in general had more relevance and Int and Strength had less Pen and Power the TTk would increase dramatically.

Light Armour has more mage defense

Enchanting is a combination of how its +1 on everyhting and lvl 10 gear often gives 2-3 main stats which multiple that +1 x8 into many many stats

ranger scatter shot seems to have fps related issues, without having the empowered scatter shot skilled, on low fps (carphin :) ) it still randomly charges the scattershot
so I wouldn't be surprised about graphic related issues
If you are sprinting while activating disengage then you don't hit the invisible brick wall and keep your momentum forward into a ground roll. Use sprint then a normal jump and hit airstrike mid jump to gain height, then disengage at the peak to get good distance.

update on tank, at lvl 13 now, just pugging with randoms. It feels like the skills would work well if the tank HP was doubled, and healing was halved. It plays like a warrior tank where you passively cancel out a portion of damage. Realistically, You can't really do any tanking without healing of some kind coming in, unless you get stuck rationing after every pull. On the bright side, having 300 physical power at lvl 10 is pretty cool. If I didn't have this passive HP increase and power from being over geared, this would be giga miserable. Instead its kind of fun. I ignore grit and just do more damage now unless its an over pull
also grit doesn't add 10% mitigation. Just the rating equivilent
charge stopping at the end is ungood, I don't like the animation that redirects 20% of all allies damage to you - its like invisible? I feel like the courage bar should be 2-3x bigger than it is. There is no 'banking' really when its only 2 casts lol. and more stuff.
overall: it's rubbish
Just wait until you realize Fortify+2 stack grit is only ~15% mitigation when everyone has penetration baked into their main stat 🤣

I'm at 13 as well. Good chunk of ashes gear on but mostly just trash filler and most the content solo is survivable just with bow wards and vengeance rotating In intercept and aoe barrier. No real need for healer solo cause of constant barrier. I think people playing tank and complaining just don't bother to read thier skills and learn how to play outside of guides and what others tell them to do. Before changes that are current low level tank play was trash.
Tank has potential and I like what they did with vengeance. However, there’s not much use in PvP as compared to clerics, bards, mages, and rangers. I can solo ok, I am not worried about PvP against people in similar gear out in the wild. In planned/spontaneous group PvP it’s more just a grapple/wall bot.

its really up to your own testing of where your gear is at, some classes like tank have guarenteed crit so they choose crit dmg cause it provides higher burst but if your crit rate is too little and the constant added dmg is too nice, its hard to go crit dmg
i personally on fighter go pen cause if i crit its close to 2.5k+ already so my non-crits being around 1.5k means i can easily chunk a whole group

We now have a resource called "Focus" which makes our abilities do 15% additional damage proportionate to Focus stored. Regen 3 focus a second and weapon combo finishers restore 10 focus on hit.
New level 1 spell replaces Barrage called "Salvo". Has 6 charges but using it consumes all charges for 50% per hit. Weapon combo finishers restore 1 charge.
Barrage got moved to a T2 spell in the skill tree.
Additional level 1 spell called "Mark Prey" which "Marks the enemy target, temporarily converting the current active Hunt into a debutt against that target. When the Mark expires, the active Hunt effects are returned to the caster along with a temporary defensive bonus".
You get Hunt of the Raven for free at level 1. Hunt of the Raven has been changed from physical pen to 10% increase accuracy
New T1 spell that acts as a focus generator called Power Shot. Deals 200% damage and generates 25 focus. 1.4s cast time, 10s cooldown

The Hunts have been changed too. So Hunt of the Tiger gives 10% crit CHANCE now isntead of damage

Thanks, I’m around 35% crit chance on my mage but maybe pen is the way to go. I don’t understand the pen formula but could probably test how much it increases flat dmg by attacking some mobs

The fact that they changed raven to be accuraccy - makes me think they are going to pull accuracy from STR (and prob int). IDK what the 'soft cap' is for hitting all the time, but STR stackers are past it already

Ranger changes sound nice! I know nothing really made it feel unique at the moment, So hopefully these changes do something to change that! Even if this wasn't a buff, or a nerf, It sounds like it put Ranger in a better feel overall!
Pen doesnt work on mobs (havant check on players yet) :p crit doesnt seem to work well either or mobs have a stupidly high crit resistance :p 45% crit rate crits things like 15%-20 of the time lol

ranger have been in a total of like 2 lines in patch notes so far 1 was fixed scatter shot the other wase siphoning regen (which doesnt seem to work anyway)
either way though anything to do with balancing numbers and things for classes atm are pointless till they fix TTK and enchanting :p

scatter shot doesnt work properly, como doesnt work properly, airstrike bugs on some terrains, disenage doesnt work, barrage isnt consistant, mark of the tiger doesnt seem to work, lightning reload sometimes doesnt reset CD very low chance, call of the wild doesnt work sometimes either, regeneration kinda useless 9hp a second at lvl 25, having throns on and being hit by somone purple stil lsometimes flags u back use to be all the time but now it only a rare chance

they fixed that part of it they havant fixed it activating twice taking both charges
hold it doesnt to do the charge sniped version of it and about 30% of the time it will instantly use the 2nd use right after u the snipe to do an uncharge scatter shot at the same time
yeah i noticed that with bow, as fighter i`d probably go disability duration then cause i deal a stupid amount of dmg already just need ppl to sit in it

only workaround is to allow duel target offense, and defense, and even then... try doing that on the fly

I have so much input for the cleric, its the only class i play for 18 hours a day every day. i could seriously improve the class via great input. 14yr healer main, and only healer. the cleric as awesome, but other than some bugs, is truly missing just a few things to make the cleric feel soo good
only class that needs nerfed to the ground is the class that has it all... the Bard.. shields, heals, mana, speed, sustain, multi cc, OP Wand tech ect ect....
i want to say, I love the cleric, will actually never touch another class haha. its soo good. but i can send video in game to you when servers come up and show you what i am talking about. its actually crazy broken rn lol. all good, bugs be bugs, id love to see a quik fix tho
As long as you are reporting it in game via /bug command then its going directly to the right people to resolve if needed 👍🏻

As bard main if you heal you give up on max mana, if you max mana you give up on heal if your focusing heals or mana your giving up on dps it's a tick for tat and I'd say out of all the classes the highest skill ceiling imo
They were completely single handedly carrying groups and destroying pve content prior tho. You don't run into pve content now and say look the bard or cleric is OP because their auto attacks are killing mobs in no time. It's just vastly different when it comes to pvp.
So i might be completely trash in my class (cleric) or I might be biased to one way of healing (WoW healing). But it seems to me that clerics dont rlly have depth in their healing.
Let me paint an example:
You're in a party and you use Soothing glow on tank and then later on judgement for extra burst heal.
Now these are 2 healing spells that work away from one another.
I kinda miss the healing aspect of:
Use soothing glow and judgement has a 3% chance of crit healing
Is this type of healing in the game and am i using my class incorrectely or is this just not in the game and does the cleric lack (For now as I know this is an alpha) depth

Tank and Ranger are buggy as hell, rest seems to be mostly fine. As a ranger, I can say that camouflage is completely bugged, scattershot sometimes charges even if there's no talent point spent for the charge, scattershot happens twice if pressed once, scattershot doesn't follow terrain 50% of the time. Disengage does a lot of weird stuff it shouldn't do, sometimes goes the wrong direction, sometimes doesn't work at all, stops you completely mid air. Thundershot sometimes goes on cooldown and nothing happens. Quick reload goes on cooldown without being used when pressed too quickly after ability use. Raining death sometimes ignores terrain and can hit mobs above ceiling, sometimes doesn't. Strider sometimes affects yourself instead of other player/mount that currently is friendly target
any clerics here that can answer this?
The depth for me comes from charging a heal up on one person, while flash healing another person… and deciding when/where to load up hots and when/where to divine infusion.
I do agree that we lack defensive combos to proc beneficial effects.
