How is the grit per hour thing the part people are talking about? The amount of casts aren't remotely the problem it's the massive courage cost that's also shared with Slam/Ground Pound/Fortify. We either need higher courage generation or lowered costs so you can use things other than grit especially for PvP where you're often not sitting in melee range for significant amounts of time.
Sounds like you have low GPH, skill issue
not really, courage cost is completely manageable with normal finisher then almost too easy with extended finisher
pve content doesnt really become harder with grit usage, our rotations are still simple af, just they implemented a minigame to try and create "interactive content" in pve
I said in PvP not in PvE. PvE content is free you can tank pretty much everything in the game with awful grit uptime even world bosses hardly hurt the tank.
of course courage isn't a problem when you have 100% uptime connecting with a pack of 5 mobs hitting you lol

tank has the second best wombo-combo in the game. It is viable at small + large scalle PvP. It is a bit of a chore during PvE due to the need to continually press Grit every 9s or so, but the class doesn't need a complete rework.
Grit needs to be altered again, but "needs a rework" is a bit of an overstatement.
I like the tanks kit but think Grit needs to be adjusted some
my only beef with my tank class is grit atm. i would happily trade it in for actively pressing block more often, making the shield actually function better then any other class hitting block would also help
I think the kit is 50/50. Would potentially like to see something implementing along the lines of fighters, where tanks have different stances. Something like, single mob defense stance, for bosses to reduce damage, multiple mob stance increases block rate, etc. otherwise skills wise good diverse choice.
But generally speaking, limited skill choice across the board for types
i got a tank to level 6 or 7. currently having a hard time retaining aggro across mobs

So you've got passive blocking which gets done without you doing anything hence passive and active blocking which requires stamina and does negate most of the dmg
But you don't need to be equipping a shield to do either
your stats will be higher for it yes

You can buy the copper weapons from the village. I'd still consider it as starter gear but it's still better than what you get from the very start

Yea so fighter is so much better for me. Got to lvl7 today and only died twice. Once because I was dumb and walked into the goblin caravan raid at lvl 4 and another because my blitz targeted a wolf while I was fighting a deer.
The 2 diffrent mobs ripped my booty cheeks asunder because they were the same lvl as me and I'm not very fast at these low levels.
Fighter has better sustain and more dmg ofc. It's melee so it struggles a bit too but fighter is p decent solo farming
Tank doesn't have any of that really
I almost died a few times while soloing the lvl 6 Raider camp mission at lvl 6. Which is something ment for a party of lvl 6 people. But I lived and that got me to lvl 7

Hello gamers. New to the game and been playing tank. Trying to figure out skill rotations and when to use vengeance and not really sure if I should be using the skill and when. I spam grit, inciting strike, tremoring strike, intimidating aura and taunt when needed.

Aura should be enough to hold aggro with taunt + shield slam + autos.
I don’t use inciting strikes, I think it’s trash. Otherwise you should focus on weaving autos and blocks with your defensive cooldowns + blocking / dodging to avoid keeping your stam maxed (use the resource!)
I’m also a gigantic fan of “circle kiting” which is constantly moving in a circle or half circle to force the mob to shift before it can enter an attack animation, it delays the amount of dps mobs can put out and makes it much easier to avoid damage.
It takes a bit of time to learn so you’re not turning the mob into your group, but very worth it.
Tremoring shout is your easy trip for cancelling a mobs skill cast
Thanks for the tips. I agree the small circle kiting is a good technique. I notice that tremoring strike does not always trip mobs. Is there a specific mechanic to get the cc off? I was at oaken and the trip sometimes would not work on the chopper. I’ll try the slam over inciting strike. The cd on inciting is kind of nice tho. Is vengeance just a meme skill?

Veng is a skill to get a stun. You weave in 1-2 vengs to prep for the third on which stuns.
Trip has a diminishing return so you can’t spam it and it shares a cooldown with snare? or stun? something similar.
In PvP veng is spammed back to back to get the stun and for the quick damage it does

i dont think so yet. If it is, its in the keybinds somewhere and i'm just not seeing it. Pretty sure when we are closer to release they will give us more advanced UI settings, keybinds, chat customization, etc...
Fight question here. Is this a known bug or am I doing something to biff this, more often than not when I cast whirlwind I spin once and it just stops. it tends to feel like it happens when input a movement key when it starts the bar but other than that it will happen even if I press the key and let my hand off the keyboard.

What is the best Stat gear for a bard? Magic Resist, Magic Power etc. Also, what does Saga do as I cannot understand what they are saying "consumes all current themes". Thanks in advance.
just stack magic power, sage used to consume the 3 themes u had on you it dosent anymore, but u still need to have them to activate saga ( ex: using wonder will give u a blue theme after u get 3 u ll be able to use sage->silent pantheon)
youre hitting WW too soon after an autoattack, so the autoattack goes through and cancels your WW. just wait for half a second before casting WW. also dont spam your ww cause that will insta cancel it as well

I've been required to use mend to keep people alive in pvp and I'm like 2 days away from rolling a bard. It's that bad
I figured there's other heals that are spam able n work
There really aren't any heals you can spam
Flashcure has a 6s cd woth 3 charges so you only have so many. Mend is a much faster recharge and you have 5 charges with stacking power
Every heal has a cool down. Or a cast bar. Cleric requires a brain
Typically to focus heal someone being focused in pvp it takes 2 clerics multiple mends AND flash cures. The problem is they'll die because the mends go to narnia or the healer can't swap target fast enough

Does anyone know how to stop auto weapon swapping? Fighter keeps using bow right after I use melee skills and I am trying to cleave mobs down.
Every day I log in, or swap weapons, it goes to melee instead of bow

Under game settings, combat, auto auto attack, UNCLICK "After Ranged Ability"

You pull with a bow? Force switch to melee using swap weapon.
Have you tried joining your local Anonymous Tankers group? It might help you with tanking trauma
my local Anonymous Bard group helped me immensely after bard nerfs. I've accepted that I'm mainly a walking mana battery now. It's hard man, when no one is watching I role play a dps bard in the front a mirror....😢
the issue isnt a nerf, its a rediculous mechanic that no other class has 🙂
Bard was OP as it was, they still are strong in balance, and their utility did not significantly change after nerf. Tanks utility in PvE changed dramatically and in PvP the grit change is an odd even more one out

i have a mage question. the deadly fisnisher proc that chains to 3 more mobs then the one your hitting. is it possible to make it not pull mobs outside of combat? (currently lvling my mage) maybe it changes at max lvl. adding that im solo lvling. i guess with a grp it dont matter since my guess is that you chain aggro mobs and aoe them down.
are you talkking abt chain lightning? no way around it thats purely aoe, atleast with lightning strike you can release the key before fully charged or not put an extra skill point into "AOE" option for lightning strike.
no the deadly finisher on at least lightning. that makes your 3rd auto chain of hitting 3 extra mobs

its a proc that could happen on every auto attack or something and it can chain of hitting 3 mobs you arent in combat with. works the same as the protection paladin avenger's shield ability from world of warcraft.

Best thing I did was increase my health bar UI, so that my buffs were more visible. I also did this for my enemies bar, so I can track the stun/trip lock out timer.

I would show screenshot, but I do not have any. I set my UI scale to 100 and resized it with a grid size of 64 to take up roughly 4 squares tall.
Yeah I don't even look for the the countdown when i check to re-apply grit, I simply look for the color of the countdown number. As i found it easier to determine when to re-apply when I see yellow ~5 seconds left
im curious on the topic of how similar this ability is to Rune of Power from WoW and that community feedback on the ability made it leave that game.

How it was always taken since the damage amp from it was so big ( was 40% in wow)
the feelbads around droping it and being forced to leave it. enemy ground effects or other things
how the mage's damage is always teid to Burst windows around the rune since the amp was so big ( 40% in wow)
The runes size was increased until it needed 3rd party softwear to track the buff.
FFXIV has Black Mage Leylines which is another variant of the same idea. I think it’s cool, numbers need tuning but the concept of rooting yourself for a ton of bonus damage is a cool component of the mage class fantasy imo.
I’d honestly like if it ACTUALLY rooted you inside of it but that would be pretty different
its very thematic on that i agree. maybe some of the lvl 25 archtypes will agument it in any way like archmage being able to move with the Arcane might buff?
my only concern is the meta gaming will be wait for the mage to drop it and then drop AoE on it or have the figther charge in and Whirlwind on top of the mage.

If you ignore mages insanely high damage, amazing burst damage, ranged CC abilities, mass slowing ability, blink ,and massive shield it just has no kit.
Mages are doing good right now. instant aoe rooting cc, shield, teleport, aoe cc with slumber, enchanting ally weapons, chill slows etc.
for a damage class it has enough utility
You should be forced to level any other class to 25 before you're allowed to roll a mage

ranger was supposed to be 2nd most mobile class in the game, still waiting for that to be the case

mage blink has twice the range of ranger disengage, its faster and has the same cooldown
mage is not mobile class, having 2 charges on blink would make no sense
that being said maybe you will get 2 charges as the augment

currently ranger only real mobility is disengage and its weird.. kinda mid. Airstrike is too slow to be real mobity, its decent for vertical, but realistically its mostly used to reengage on snared targets

disengage doesnt give any defensive bonuses so when you are stuck in the animation in the air you are a free target to shoot at, basically a target dummy. And when you combine that with low range and 20s cd.. its just not very good
but apparently they will be overhauling classes after rogue is live
so we will see what they will cook

Yeah, I agree. I personally really liked Pandaria PvP because everyone was super busted and it was hilarious but I know a lot of people didn’t like it haha
its psychology, it feels good to have unfair mechanic. To one shot someone as a rogue, to reset the whole raid to full hp as a cleric
and mmo is pinicle of imersion in a sense
you play as your character for hundereds if not tousands of hours
Ultimately it’s how it feels tho imo, bard just feels really fluid and tanks feels like dry cardboard

i played gvg few days ago and i got one shot by a tank 
1 brain cell per song, and I have to take 24 hours to unlearn and relearn a new one, raid leader needs to be give me 24 hours to play a 4th song

tanks will be more tanky, mitigation matters more when everyone is not getting oneshot, so tank party buffs will be more relevant in pvp. and fighter has a lot of damage so it will still be good after damage nerfs

sure share away, the larger issue for any JM Armorsmith like myself is getting the rarity mats for crafts, i cant produce jack shit at high quality without Animal Fats for the molds nor without any quality hides. it is offsetable with high quality metals, but there the coal might be the bottleneck, so by all means share your build possible
blue shield is flag, large cast time, theres still moments you can use it but i would say in a 2 hour war I found 4 casts that were good. Thinking you mean aegis but from what i'm told, cc is shared too (why i was told protect is a bad ability) so unless they make it so you are cc immune while aegis bubble is active i dont see a point for it

archetypes are already available? you choose specific archetype at a certain level or it's determined by weapon of choice?
you choose a class and can use any weapons with it. rogues are currently on the PTR and should be out in a couple weeks, maybe, who knows.
Closest thing to assassin is ranger because it has a fake stealth skill, but in reality there isn't that type of character in-game yet.

no, you only need heroic +6 for most items to be pretty OP. in a lot of cases legendary adds like...1-2 main stat and 1-3 waterfall stats. +10 also has significant risk of item loss so only insane people would be doing that right now.

Most people have less than a 5k health pool at level 25, it's easy to 2-4 shot someone with crits if geared. The way gear scaling, gear restrictions and gear enchants work atm props up someone's damage when defenses and health pools arn't being scaled the same.
My 15 ranger with +8 enchanted level 10 gear can 3-4 shot a 25 mage with a shield on. A mage like kaizer with his full on enchanted heroic+ rarity level 10 gear can just spam lightning strike and firebolt someone 3 times and if they're not dead, the burn kills them. This makes it extremely easy to get corrupted with this pvx system when people choose not to engage you. This is just the game's pvp right now.
Just for documentation, tested ranger camo today again and confirmed it was not affecting mob aggro range
Fresh 20s with drops vs a 17 with a suit costing north of 500g
Of course the 20s will get stomped
The issue is the defenses doesn’t scale with enchanting

There aren't really any "builds" in the game yet, since after lvl 12 or so every build will look the same.
Fighter rotation is: build up Momentum -> dump it all on Whirlwind -> build up Momentum -> Blood Fusion + Berserk to sustain and reset CDs -> repeat
Momentum builders are Raging Blitz, Overpower / Brutal Cleave and Battle Cry, as well as auto-attack finishers.
Your fillers are Rupture, Slicing Maim, Lethal Blow, Cataclysm and Leap Strike
You'll occasionally have to use Wollop / Knock Out to interrupt something

Go back to the aela ruins and get Bizbhug's Robe. Also get the gloves from Nangolith near samia's hope. Then get a couple rings from WyrmWig in Korra Loch
Gloves are easy to get but hard to replace. You can also buy them in miraleth market for 12 silver or less on my market

Not book unless you are solo grinding. It had a cleve and can accidently pull other shit with it. Main hand is just a stat stick you pull out of you have more than one thing on you at which point you probably want the shield for the defensive stats anyway so find a spellsword (which I like for wound) or some other one handed to go with the shield. If you such to wand in the off make sure you grab an orb and everything but the shield has magic stats

How exactly are you reaching that number?
Shortbow has 0.4s cast time, and combo hit 5 and 6 are both finishers, so:
- T+0.4s
- T+0.8s
- T+1.2s
- T+1.6s
- T+2.0s (Finisher)
- T+2.4s (Finisher)
Longbow has 1.1s cast time, and only one finisher, so:
- T+1.1s
- T+2.2s
- T+3.3s (Finisher)
So shortbow gives twice as many finishers per combo sequence, and takes 0.9s less to do so, with the first finisher happening a full 1.3s faster than longbow?

yes, mana is a huge need, but also they make everything easier, wether its boosted damage, extra healing, buff shreds, or aoe debuff cleanses
Most groups use both, typically 1x Bard and 2x Clerics -- so that if one Cleric dies, the 2nd one can rez.
Cleric is a pure healer with a splash of utility, Bard is pure support.
In terms of being more "crucial": you can still farm semi-efficiently in a group without a Bard, but it's a pain and you'll hate every moment of it.
You cannot really farm efficiently without a Cleric.
( this is for 8-man group content )
there are some places you can, just requires the tank to constantly kite mobs instead of taking any hits

That's fully up to you if you prefer more magic stats vs defense. I use a wand so I have the extra slot so I can run both a shield and orb
Defense is useless and doesn’t scale as well as magic power
The block from shield is barely noticeable, but comes with a much larger difference in healing and cast speed
Dps can get enough penetration to ignore all magic and phys defense of non tanks
And becoming as tanky as a tank comes with too large a drawback to healing
Like I said it's up to what's preferred

I was reading through the character creators explanation of the Fighter Archetpye and it states that they have resistance to magic but I don't see that anywhere in their kit. I'd love to see fighters get more mag resists as it would enable them to dive into group PvP without getting instantly deleted by casters. As of right now Fighters play more reactive than active roles in most larger scale fights; punishing out of position players, flanking and occasionally diving when the time is right. This seems counterintuitive to their brawler style of play and I'd love to see fighters be able to build momentum and stay in the thick of it as opposed to plinking from a distance with a long bow waiting for an opportunity. @mighty nimbus

Why is it so hard for a tank to block frontal magical projectiles, like theres weird movements while blocking that allows you to somewhat block it but its inconsistent, and feels very overpowering for mages to just gain a free option of just never having to deal with their dmg reduced from block.
As far as I can tell, its something to do with teh tracking element of magic projectiles just not reading as in front of the player on collision. Camera angle matters not at all on blocking magic, and only thing is like moving left/right while in their face holding block but this can still just at times not matter either. Tested vs cleric & sightblade autos and hard to get consistency out of blocking their stuff
Hi im new to this but wanted to ask is there any class besides the Rogue that can dual wield weapons like 2 swords or anything besides just a sword and shield or a class with such skill????

this doesnt make sense - why invalidate the use of focuses by allowing 2 weapons

because focus will be like any other offhand, giving different tradeoff than dual wield
not a good answer considering weapons are multiple times stronger than focus/shield
Offhand weapons appear (from stream previews) to be a separately crafted item that has lower stats
The current system for weapons is kinda shit
Your secondary weapon is a stat stick
Weapons you level but don’t have equipped still give the trigger passives
Locked to either physical or magical weapons depending on archetype
Locked to melee weapon as a ranged archetype
Locked to ranged weapon as a melee archetype
Damage of weapon massively outscales defence stats, making defence only matter if you are a tank

And weapons and armor should have magic/phys types?
I frequently use both melee and ranged on my bard/cleric. Our fighters and tanks frequently use both. Mage doesn't use weapons a ton and ranger is built around their bow
i wouldnt look at this like that
stuff will change 10 times
and will be rebalanced 10 times
dual wield is not just putting second weapon in offhand slot
its combining two weapons into one 2-handed item
so they have control over thier stats

i think its good that its one ranged and one melee
i dont want ranger to go both shortbow and longbow
selecting bow type should be a choice

You can swap in combat :p i have both keybound as a cleric. If I'm in any kind of 1v1 shortbow is way better for stacking burning but otherwise I use longbow to stay away from people
why do we have a ranged slot and melee slot? why cant it be 2 weapon slots and we get to chose what weapons we equip?

I have a stat question. It says strength = 3 phys power rating. I have 101 strength, but only 270 phys power rating, is this correct, and if so, how does math work, again?
You get diminishing returns at some point iirc

101 str = 101 phys power, 303 rating

the only way that I get 270 power rating instead of 303 power rating is if the conversion rate is 2.7:1
hovering over power it says "Rating = 793 = 270" with literally no explanation of where 793 comes from
is there somewhere that explains all of this so that I don't have to bother people?
1 str gives 3 rating
weapon give some rating
you have 793 rating
3 rating = 1 power
so you have 270 power
1 str = 1 power
but you can get rating from other sources, most of it is probably from your weapons
power rating =/= power
1 str = 3 power rating = 1 power

but what goes into that stat? I still do not understand how 101 * 3 = 793 = 270
793 / 270 is 2.93
ohhhh I see. Look at your weapons. They have power rating. You might also have gear with raw power rating if you look at it.
Yeah that’s a little odd, not sure why. I thought it was 3:1 exactly but the math might be funky.
Physical power rating = (Strength * 3) + Physical power rating on gear/weapons
(That’s supposed to be how it works)

Mouse over them in the character sheet
Weapon choice is preference
Shortbow and longbow give penetration or crit
Wands and books give conditions and magic damage increases and cool-down reduction
I can't wait to get gear that let's me spam cast fireball and combustion.
With the way cool-downs work, that’s not gonna be possible 😉
Even at best you can use a full weapon combo to trigger the cool-down reduction on next spell cast, then use fireball a little sooner
