I was cleansing the lands of the Fallen Purifiers in remorse to their loss.
The purification of Lionshold was a dream I had that would one day release those "Lions" from their "Hold" and allow the people cursed in the village the ability to travel freely. The moorling family may have had a sour apple, but not all fruits of the grand trees were evil.
Lenya Moorling showed her devotion to love; although her husband was lost she remains steadfast with her nourishment.
The Talons upon the Warhelm Garrison were courageous and brave warriors that fought until the very end. Even though the commander had sworn a negative oath of valor, his lands will not hold this falsehood of choices forever.

I haven’t logged into the servers for almost a year, but starcitizens situation is in fact very different to ashes, for all those wondering. Chris Roberts is a maniac, torturing his teams to redo systems millions of times until he is happy, which he almost never is. Its taking ages and its biggest pitfall is, that it is still missing some gameplay elements to really hold it together - BUT you can buy the 40 dollar pack and enjoy the best space simulation to date now. The immersion is real, and you will have daily wow moments for several months. Just my 2 cents.

its pretty easy to say its being mismanaged if you cant quantify the "renkai" wardrobe cost and deliverable timetables for X amount of assets or sets for each slot etc. Else it just seems like its all blindly firing.

The alpha was bare as a newborn. They said secondary archetypes were just one update away, but they were never even able to get the Harbingers system functioning when that was meant to be a pivotal system to draw in more players. Professions were in the most skeletal form of existence, not even close to being fleshed out.

People keep saying “it was so close to being really good” dance around what this means. If it’s not there yet, it wasn’t good. But it’s a test, it doesn’t have to be great. But it should be functioning and not require near daily restarts for the most basic of functions like mob spawns and aggro.

I had hope and faith in what the game could be, but it never materialized. Now being marred with potentially years of litigation and bad press, the best case scenario is refunds for everyone and payments to the staff for what they are owed. TLDR: The courts asked for Steven and The Board that took over to verify their standing for a "Receiver" (a neutral third party that goes over and handles all the finances of the case and whatever (Google the rest, its basically a court money person). The Board agreed but only if the Receiver doesn't have access to their books (I.E payment histories, debts, basically how the money is moving). It’s actually much simpler. Because Ashes didn’t have a cash shop and have a Western audience with strong purchasing power, the price of gold in the game was very high. That in turn pushed RMTers toward botting and selling gold.

We once roughly calculated how much gold our own group earned through crafting in just a couple of days—completely without bots—and it was around $300 worth. In most countries, that would already be a pretty decent income. And if you add cheats and bots into the equation, it would turn into a very profitable money-making machine.

On top of that, the game was still in alpha, and the anti-bot and anti-cheat systems weren’t properly implemented yet.

RuneScape was (for me) the biggest "botting" game in history from my perspective.

The developers decided to add a "Random Encounter" (Sandwich Lady) and this messed up the botting algorithm for a while.

Then the bots learned and adjusted.

So next they decided to sell the gold for cheaper than botting websites, and this made it "Pay 2 Win" but removed most of the botting community.

I don't know how it is now, but there seems to be AFK skills with cheap rewards, or you can do highly active gameplay (example: boss fights) and get expensive rewards.

It didn't take me very long to understand questing, that's why I helped a bunch of people...

I really liked the challenge of it, and I only heard people complaining about the quests. So I tried to help people understand.

I even made a public announcement in Questing Codex giving details on what I knew about how questing works...

• the RACE you choose will affect quests
• the background you choose will affect quests
• the NPC's you help will affect quests
• the factions you choose......

On top of that, you NEED to read extremely carefully.

• the commission board gives lore and game information for events that can be triggered if you follow the instructions
• the loading screen gave lots of lore from the gods
• there are secret phrases you can unlock in dialogue if you actually do some side quests...

The Quests also had a storyline progression.
If you did quests by "Level"... you get less bugged out quests

• Example: The Kyronic Purifier in Lionhold... had multiple quests that would bug out, but if you did them by "level" you could do all of them and get no bugged quests 😅

The biggest profit we ever made was when the weaving station broke down in one of the cities (the mayor didn’t pay upkeep). We had already stocked up there on a reagent used for processing threads that was only sold in that location.

I think if you'd ever made a game of your own, you'd understand. It's not the same as just making a clone server to scam some money. It's an active project all in itself. You'd have us vilify things like the Star Wars mod for Starfield simply because those modders don't own the SW IP. I'd call that a great loss. I've worked on games that are only alive today because of people making private servers.
