The docket was updated with a minute order from the district judge Lopez who said the plaintiff's preliminary injunction was not granted, and that the motion to disqualify cancel also was not granted. In the previous TRO, there was a neutral custodian to maintain assets appointed who doesn't lapse when the TRO ends but has to be explicitly dismissed. But basically as I understand it, and what is important to people here following the case, is that Dawson and the "directors" as they call themselves, for the remainder of the trial can try to sell Ashes provided that they go through the neutral custodian if he wasn't dismissed. So they could have a public Article 9 foreclosure, but the custodian would make sure that they don't do things like not alert the bank, or sell assets for less than what they were worth which is what was alleged in plaintiff's complaint

Basically Steven said that he had dealings with one of TFE's lawyers when he had a different company going under, which didn't end up in Schwartz actually signing any contracts with Sharif but Sharif still alleged gave Schwartz information protected by attorney client privilege. This got argued over and sealed documents were presented to the court, Dawson et al made objections, but in the end was not granted to Steven. I imagine that we'll hear about the judges reasoning soon enough

Yeah, the smart players like DA and tmugsy knew how to channel their toxicity in a way that made it simultaneously beneficial to game dev (aggressively hunting exploits/bugs and heavily testing systems) while also getting enjoyment out of it. Steven knew that longterm the benefits outweighed the risks, and only issued temp bans or character deletions when things reached a fever pitch.

The only negative I'd say is the stuff DA showed about Steven actually talking to them like they're friends. He shoulda just did what he did but never spoke to them so they never knew why they were getting away with it

Nah I think it was triage by game impact or severity. Tank grapple was minimal and took a long time, but also could have been tougher to crack. Small bugs that are easy but don't have a major impact I expect to be kept for much later. Especially if they're small bugs in systems that are planned to be reworked later. Why waste dev time fixing something that may not even last it's next iteration?

Broken quests is a great example, because the questing system was pretty much a stump for the real narrative system that would've evolved later. They probably grouped bug fixes into the revamp all in one. Also barely any players engaged with the narrative system post 20+

Well the quest one was hiding the issue that they never delivered narrative tools to the narrative team so they couldn't even make quests correctly to begin with. Quests are where we get the lore, the names of roads and features, the stuff we don't learn otherwise... To me that's just as critical to gameplay as making combat moves work.

Yeah, probably the best outcome for players would be if Steven wins the rights to the game, manages to sell it to a major studio, and stays on as CEO. That’s what I’d personally hope for.

No matter how many mistakes or questionable decisions he made as the head of Intrepid, the one thing you can’t take away from him is that he stuck to the original plan. There was a clear vision for the project that didn’t change over time or under pressure.

To me, that’s far better than seeing news that the game was bought by Amazon and handed over to the developers of New World… who kept turning their own project into a survival game, then an MMO, then an ARPG — constantly chasing trends.

Here, there’s already an established player base, and not a small one, that wanted exactly this kind of Ashes.

Under Steven, probably not. They've been burnt by that fire already. Under TFE, with senior executive leadership who actually launch and ship games as their career, I could see staff coming back. I know there's some disgruntled employees who would be happier with a sudden return of guaranteed income, but TFE would probably have maybe 3 months tops from now to start hiring before they're all elsewhere and not looking back.

LORE: As far as I have come to understand it, Steven's Pathfinder world of Verra was a loose framework for the story, but it seemed very threadbare whenever it was tested. In terms of in-game lore, the narrative team didn't even have the tools to build the lore, and that was combined with a lack of a unified vision of the lore.

Y'know how the bible is identified to have been written in the style of different authors in different parts? That's kinda like how the lore was. It was all associated but writers brought in names and themes they enjoyed because a consistent "World of Verra" didn't seem to exist.

Its in parentheses because you don't actually look at their eyes, but you look at the space between their eyes, above the bridge of their nose. Learn to do that, and speaking with others, and public speaking indirectly, becomes so much easier.

I've played consistently the past 5 years or so. Nothing about the botting and gold buying was a decision by the team. They made strides to prevent it but it's really unavoidable in a game still in development, and any game for that matter.

Could they have allotted more team members towards security and moderation? Maybe, idk the specifics, but they were having a hard time filling some positions and likely isn't something you magically fix by throwing non related team members at.

I dont think crafting was overtuned... if you think in the true experience and real gameplay of mmo RPG crafting was not something you should be doing ALONE, that is why guilds thrived to get the desired items of their choice because out of 500 members in a guild... 480 were focused in getting resources while 10 were mastercraftmans and another 10 master processors.

And liking or not it will be a tuff out way to balance a shit like that with the mentality of players nowadays of what entails mmorpg nowadays...

Best way would be actually "crafter making the best shit" like steven said, but unfortunately they never did make the best shit per say...

You could drop your ass away in mob drops and be strong enough and what they did to nerf that... not drop anymore rare+ drops from mobs unless it is a world boss or so.

A good mmorpg needs to have a balance of droped item which can be sold freely, unique items which can only be get from unique stuff like story quests, side quests, main quests, unique first time dungeon/quest discovery and from crafting unique materials.

And now crafters should be able to craft the best shit by getting lots of variables materials from common to legendary, mythic unique etc etc and then from it make the best possible item with its skills

but what i am sayins is so high standard that is something i think will happen only in 2100, so w/e

They either had something like WoW before ashes and now got back to it, either they are just trying to replace ashes without a lot of success. Here is the things some people have missed. Steven may or may not have lied on his own. Or he may have been lying because former board members told him to keep them out of spotlight, etc from start. TFE can continue development right NOW. They can hire devs, for example, but if they did that and eventually the court finds that there was fault in whatever the fuck, sorry like I said it's been a while, they could actually reverse it all and make them pay damages. They could also argue that TFE doing anything to the game is some sort of danger to the trade secrets so theyll end up filing more motions

Nefas used to run ESOU.com I believe It was called? Which was an amazing resource for ESO and anything (Content wise) related to ESO. It had guides and all kinds of other stuff for people to reference. He tried to livestream a live event ESO was doing talking about future content and all kinds of other stuff. They asked him along with other creators to not live stream, Yet he tried to be sneaky and got caught, Then said he was super offended by the call out later on and had a falling out.

To open up aoc right now... EXACTLY RIGHT NOW you just need 1 person... no need to maintain it no need to develop it no need to bug fix minor or major... just to open it and restart daily you need 1 person.
Thinking more then that then you are just straight up dumb.

Now to start things going on like maintanance, bug fix, upgrades, etc etc then you need a team and that can be slow for all i care.

I think anyone with brain can understand that what people who enjoyed aoc until its dawnfall was that it was a very different mmorpg then what we have of morden mmorpg right now and they are ok with playing for 5 more years of 10 more years if necessary, but we just want to be online in it and be doing things even if repeatedly... just because even when repeatedly it is more fun then queueing up to a dungeon and doing it repeatdly.
