It's not 100% reliable. And you gotta keep an eye on things and make sure shit doesn't go wrong and then have to pay down tech and arch debt as fast as you can. These things are still limited, even with 1M context limit, and that comes with context memory and hallucination issues. If I was to create a MMO, I'd rather have professional devs than LLMs working on the game engine and backend, network and security as well...

I am playing around with an Agentic team to build games, if you want 2D top down pixel art, it kinda gets something together, everything else...forget it for now. Nevada judge said status quo continues, no PI, hearing scheduled for after the California case decides their PI situation, basically

TFE just filed a motion for dissolving the TRO in California, and a motion to move the hearing for dissolving the TRO forward, judge granted it and replaced the PI hearing on the 18th with the dissolve the TRO to the 18th
so they'll hear arguments about dissolving it on the 11th/12th and hearing formally on the 18th, if the judge decides not to dissolve it, then PI hearing needs to be scheduled again

I don't think the TRO was all you're hoping for, yes there is the element that you have to show reasonable (there's that word again!) probability that you will succeed in the final hearing, but that doesn't mean you have a strong case, especially if the judge doesn't hear the other side. But what also happens is they weigh up the "Balance of Hardships". The TRO is meant to prevent the board from selling assets for the next 14 days (by which time the case will begin), so unless they had some deal lined up, this doesn't actually do anything. I believe though that it might have been done to limit the ability of transferring assets to TFE's holdings instead of in intrepid, which would make more sense, but it doesn't mean Steven is some big winner. Here in Oz you can walk into the magistrate's court and obtain an AVO on someone pretty easily as long as you tell them what they want to hear (good luck to you come the actual hearing which can occur 12 months later)

Improbable was the company name, SpatialOS was the system. I played with it in unity back when and it was radical. But yeah it operated on the same idea of having server workers that wind up and down depending on player count in a specific virtual geolocation.

I played scavengers during the beta, it was a fun extraction pvp game, but the promise of "less lag" was not there. That kind of talk could have given another company the idea of nabbing all the IP and producing it under their banner to reap the profits. But had the sale have progressed, they would have gotten the financials and seen what we are seeing now (and will see throughout the case) and probably exposed the project and killed the hopes of it for the future. So it would make sense given the shoofty nature of the resourcing and begging for cash, that the people who had invested in the game denied the offer.

Some areas have caused people to be Error 37 shut out of the game. I was in Vexhelm 3 weekends ago and it was fine. Today I was reminded how important the guild element was to the game.

Ashes felt much more engaging than just every MMO because being solo wasn't really a viable option. You needed so many other people to do things effectively, whether that was crafting or raiding, or even just grinding particular mobs or items.

A lot of other MMOs just feel really hollow and empty because you only need a few people, or solo, to do basically ALL of the content. And the lack of this necessity really drains the social aspect of the VCs I've been in.

I hope that, in the long run, Ashes prevails and comes out again because I want to see this kind of interconnected social content again.

I have stated for years that developers need to issue alpha/beta IQ test before people are allowed in. While we all 'anticipate’ that our financial and time investments will hopefully result in a launched game, we all know the risk that it may not.

With that said, there is no doubt in my mind that some of Steven’s poor decisions over the years led to what we saw play out and yes, I am one that feels his development was scatterbrained and all over the place for what I was still consistently seeing 9 years in. It wasn’t that as a customer I was expecting any specific feature or mechanic, I just got tired of watching the goalpost ‘constantly’ being moved for 9 years. I have alpha/beta tested games for a very long time and while development IS fluid and there will always be a lot of changes, even in core direction, this felt like a lack of clear focus for a very long time. Right or wrong, you know what they say about past behavior being the best predictor of future actions and we had quite a few years to accumulate history on the helter-skelter development.

In full transparency, I was one of those that had red flags early on with the MLM and nekrage stuff which resulted in me delaying the purchase of a package at the time of kickstarter. I admit, my spidey senses prevented me from fully trusting what Steven was claiming at the time, but after watching development for the first few years, I then purchased a package. Well, that and I had already sunk a shitload into other games at the time like Crowfall and Camelot Unchained so there was some burnout with this.

Now, given what has unfolded, do I think my spidey senses were right about Steven? No, I think Steven fully intended on seeing this game developed and sunk his heart and soul and possibly even health into it.

Do I think there was some shady shit going on behind the scenes and some sort of possible collusion with some of these Jenuesse scum to make this happen, my spidey sense really tingle with this thought.
