Fundamentally this is why I haven't really played since pre-A2.

The PTR should be the one getting broken on the daily. The persistent A2 server shouldn't even get updates until a round of PTR is completed, and should be accompanied with a wipe. Bugfixes, sure. But no large patches.

Why even have the PTR if they just push broken stuff to "live"? Every live update ends up borked in some way, and the changes that come to live are always "we are collecting data" as to why it is buggy and doesn't get fixed.

So, I'm fairly sure that the following just happened:

  1. I clicked on smelter and withdrew my crafted ingots
  2. Before the ingots arrived in my inventory, the server crashed.
  3. The ingots have been deleted.

If I have managed to deleted heroic ingots via withdrawing at the split second the server crashed, I'm opening an umbrella inside and breaking a window to get the bad luck over and done with.

Nope, not joking at all. The only change they did to it was that instead of rarity being static to a specific gatherable, it's shuffled for gatherables in a given area. You hit a legendary in a valley, you come back in X amount of time, there is a legendary in that valley of the same gatherable type. It's the same pool of rarities for the whole valley, though.

it's not a game, it's a test, but also it's a game because they constantly have to release minor balance patches but also it's a test so you don't get to hold them accountable to actually fixing real issues but also it's a live service so it's super important that we don't allow settlement buffs to exist because of how they stack crafting consumables but also it's not a game it's a test which is why you don't get to have any expectation that they communicate accurately in patch notes

its not the size of the updates though, they work in "packages", e.g. game files are spread into for example 10 packages each 5gb in size.
if they change 1 tooltip text for 1 item, or 1 icon for an item for example, which is contained by package 4, they will need to give you the entire new package 4 which is the size of 5GB.

I don't hate the game. I am annoyed with the Devs who continue to push shit patches that break functional systems and mechanics in order to fix a small bug. Or they revert the patch because it makes their game unstable. They are still dealing with stabiliity issues even though they have said they have fixed it. They haven't fixed it.
