he has already replied to this comment: the patch isn't ready yet. they've been changing the server worker code in the background (we don't see them do it, it just happens as the workers cycle i'd assume) to add more tracing. they're actively trying to watch for the server worker crash to happen. like "dudes sitting around watching the servers run like watching paint dry" to try and catch it

I wouldn’t say they were unprepared so much as they were unaware of the scale of the issues that would emerge until this many players were online at once. Before Steam, they simply didn’t have anywhere near this level of concurrency or stress on the systems. Most of what we’re seeing now is the result of their custom UE5 tech, especially dynamic server gridding. That’s not off-the-shelf Unreal functionality—it’s bespoke technology they’ve built themselves, and systems like that only really show their weaknesses under real player load. Dynamic gridding is its own beast, and outside of limited internal testing, it’s almost impossible to fully validate at scale without exactly this kind of live environment. Steam didn’t create the problems—it exposed them, which is exactly what an alpha test is supposed to do.

God, most of us here have been able to play, and it is an alpha and in full development there are going to be bugs galore, and there will continue to be bug. Nope he's right, alpha means you have your core features running. What you're refering to is a pre alpha build where there is just the "game" without features, alpha is where the core game is supposed to be fully functional and pushing new features to prod to test them out.

I agree with your Whelha, but if you are familiar with the sheer volume of systems/loops and content announced and intended, I don't think you could reasonably conclude that we are in alpha - again, you're right on the evolving nature of the milestones, but I just don't see how anyone would say we're at alpha (bootlickers excluded of course, because they will argue anything they don't think exalts their cult leader)

"Core" features are the gameplay loop, the overall goals of the game, the leveling system, the basic combats, the basic node systems, the basics of questing, and even the basics of artisanship. This was all in play when the early access started over a year ago. Since then the world has been expanding, the servers have been tested to hold higher and higher populations, OTHER extra features have been slowly added and tested throughout the last year. So yes, your definition of an alpha is correct. But no, either you cant read or you dont understand what the core features of a game mechanically are.

i would not say "early development" but for as long as its been in development, it should be much farther along than it is now. Been in Alpha from day 1 , and there has been alot of improvements, but this far along I think we should be testing past lvl 25 , and basic things smoothed out.
