Personally, you shouldnt steam launch until the game is more developed. People have higher expectations on steam. Should have just kept alpha on the website and kept progressing there until real launch. But i think they may have needed more funding soooo they went steam to get the $$$. Very risky move imo. Async Issue – What Worked for Me
I personally got past the async issue by:

• Letting it loop until I was kicked back to Character Select
• After that, I was able to log in successfully

Other Reported Fix (from multiple players)
Some players have had success with the following:

1. Navigate to:
   C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\AOC
2. Rename or delete:
   Saved → Saved.old
3. Launch the game again

For the Async issue: I fixed mine by going into C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\AOC and renamed the Saved folder to Saved.old and restarted the game. You'll lose all your keybinds and saved settings but will be able to get in. Hopefully
