There will be a lot of mob grinding. Quests can get you far, but mob grinding is better.

Ashes is more sandboxy atm. Up to you how you choose to level, through quests, grinding, gathering, processing, fishing and a host of others. The quest experience will take you all the way to around 16 if you get them all to work, but you have to go out and find them, they are not all grouped together. Commisions are always good to keep topped off because you just naturally complete them by doing stuff in the world and you get extra for doing them. The new destinies systems for completing certain objectives give good rewards and exp. A whole mess of stuff to do.

All weapons come with both physical and magical varieties, although the more "normal" versions are earlier to get in the early game. So I would probably recommend wand and scepter early on. Later on you might want a magic bow for example.

There has been quite a bit discussed in livestreams on twitch & YT, esp interviews with Steven if you want to look those up.
Yes, the way they'll look is that you get a set of "augements" from your secondary archetype, and you can pick which ones of those you want to add to your abilities from your primary archetype.
An example is if you were Fighter/Mage, you get a charge type ability from Fighter, and you pick a teleport augment from mage, and now your charge teleports you to your target. That sort of thing.

Queues are not based on realm population. Queues are based on Server Worker (location in game). If you go to a secluded spot before logging out, you won't have a queue on next login. Press PAGE Up in game to see what server worker you're on
