I'm just wondering how I have Sauravis the ancient and ascended on the field and the quick effect misses timing when its an on summon quick effect the effect being; (quick effect): you can return this card to hand; negate the special summon, and if you do, banish that monster(s).

so like my opponent used poly and it didnt let me use it

Thats because that summon occurred while a chain was resolving

In that case, CL 1 of Poly effect was still resolving

so since it was poly I cant activate the effect? liek even after chain resolved I couldnt use it

You cannot activate an effect to create a chain link while another chain is still resolving

The types of summons you can negate would be a synchro, xyz, link, contact fusion, etc done without a card effect

Or for example, Kashtira Fenrir summon from the hand, as it doesnt activate, thus occurs outside of a chain
