so my mu beta basically has a spell/trap negate as long as i control a machine ritual monster. My opponent popped his unchain trap card which triggered a effect in grave. My mu beta negates any spell/trap activation, which is strange because it wasn't able to. Uh the screenshot is a bit off timing, but at this point my opponent droplet me.

I assume you wanted to negate the unchained trap effect in the GY?
Thats a card effect activation, not a card activation, so its not a valid card for fafnir to negate
Spell/Trap card activations happen when a card is activated from the hand to the field, or flipped faceup on the field to activate it.
