This would:

1) Give relics a more concrete purpose
2) Incentivize relic generation and therefore disincentivize complete loss farm WS teams that just jump in and out
2a) Encourage corps to keep fighting for relics even if they’ll lose the overall game, leading to more active and engaging matches
3) Allow corps to personalize their flagships—creating more strategic diversity

(All while staying within the developer's stated design of white star rewards benefiting the corporation as a whole).

This is a new idea inspired by the existing discussion about how white star relics might be given a purpose and benefit the entire corporation. Many of the ideas in the original post here I also like: https://discord.com/channels/255083954036670464/1414143214595739741

As for implementation details, I leave that up for discussion, but some starting thoughts:

  • Any officer or first officer of the corporation can spend relics to upgrade flagship modules
  • Upgrades to flagship modules should be instantaneous
  • Ideas for how relic count is modified by a loss/draw so as to discourage loss farms is discussed in the thread linked above.
  • A simpler version of this idea would just be that in addition to credit donations, corps also need to have a number of relics in the bank to upgrade to the next FS level — which are spent upon upgrade
