I wanted to toss in my two cents, then I'll be done.
They can't tell anything when the star log is not hour-specific, but they do still have a few days of the log that are. When the white star is discovered, they can make note of all the flurries of ship jumps, then when they wait a day, they have even more data.
They can then piece that data together, and figure out from there when you sleep
If there are multiple possibilities of when you sleep, they could try an attack during one of those periods, and see if you react
Also, if you've matched before, they have even more data

If ys went private... Allot of the easy tool to see if someone active or not won't be there... And as far as WS opponents fishing if u asleep... It only records last ship jumped... Some play all day, some only evening, morning...u just don't know by looking at the x hours ago

You can still see if someone is active based on their research station. If it's idle, you know they've been inactive for at least a day
And looking at just one day's worth of jumps won't give you much; you would need to piece together multiple days
Though it does allow you to see how long it's been since they played the game
Like if they quit, you know how long ago they quit

The yellow star log may not be accurate directly but its still enough to recognised the 12 hr window you have to be in,

Its not really unfair that anyone gets attacked while sleeping in a ws. The victim could very easily do the same to their opponent using the same method - so it cant be an unfair practise. It just takes more effort thats all.
But yes, I agree with the OP because the concept of a Star Log imo is something that only the owner of the star system should have access to. And if it doesnt really add anything to the game, then take it completely out.

It lets me know which corp members are active and how long ago. So I know if I should leave them, or if it has been 2 years. I'm not for removing this just because it could aid someone in something 1% of the time, and only if a percentage of those users manage their star system in that method.
Tell me when I'm active. I guarantee it will be wrong.

I agree, ones strategy should never be contingent on the opponent making mistakes, though I do encourage them.
If I can limit opponent reaction time, bonus. Though I have never gone through star logs to determine it

I set a bond in TM in 25 minutes just in case I get bonded.
Returns back they get bonded without reactions. Well, that bonus I guess

I've never heard of someone using the yellow star log for trying to predict an enemies sleep time to strike during ws.
If you're always getting attacked in your sleep, your opponent is probably in a different time zone.
The ys log only gives an opponent an indicator when you're warping something in or out of your star.
If you only run 3x bls a day, and 1x rs a day, at around the same time each day, it'll make it seem like you're afk 23h/day.
