Maybe spin up time should increase with veng level instead or both.
It has to be level 11 to completely cover time. But you can turn off auto activation and extend a little for lower level.
There is no solution other than changing 1 of them completely

At this point, just get rid of fortnite mode. there are too many cheeses, cheap-shots, low-blows, and mismatches for it to be fun for a lot of people. Or do like YS and RS and completely redo it.
you know what screw alpha shield it gets a 3 sec or 18 min of invincibility and cooldown gets lowered by level

Or maybe make explosion shield good enough to hold a veng. That will make a richer choice between opposing not all mighty strategies
Change alpha to a Phasing Shield
• Effect: Grants short periods of invulnerability (e.g., 1 second every 3 seconds) while active.
• Purpose: Balances defense by allowing some damage to bypass during downtime.
This would still be able to be used in white star to enter barrier just time the "phase" at your jump
This helps with bls because it causes damage to hit.. alpha can still last the same amount of time. Or even longer haha
Or set a health limit for alpha so it only activates at like 500 hp but not sure if that helps
another solution is just having all combat modules not deal 140% of a lvl7 bs's hull worth of damage

The alpha veng vs high level motion shield is a really fun dogfight with the veng user loosing more often than not. Waiting for more people to level up motion as a hard counter to veng seems better than nerf batting veng like what happened to leap.
The best thing would be making more feasible alternatives. If there is 1>2 2>3 3>1 cycle would be great.
Just hit tele and barrier 2s before vengeance goes off and gone are motion troubles..😉

The leap nerf was a little much but something need done there as well. Veng shouldn’t be able to cover the entire map and be unkillable while it’s activating regardless if it has a counter or not. Nothing in any game should grant invincibility and certainly not the way alpha does to veng
Variable radius per star?
Feel like if it's to small then it's destiny without tele, but people would then use tele to bomb you for bls
Kinda need that radius for red star white star is bigger in general so keeping it large meh. Bls is smaller so making it small radius kinda makes sense I guess but still has crazy damage
I was gonna say, vengeance blocks shield activations. So have to wait for it to go off or activate it before 🤣

Massive aoe at the cost of needing to be almost dead seems like a fair trade but right now the only way to survive a vengeance is a high level motion shield or alpha. Some kind of tweak to veng damage or passive/omega shields buff seems like so that at 3/4 shield you can survive a vengeance 12+ seems like a healthy nerf. Adding blast shields back to 50k and tanking multiple high level veng/destiny at the cost of just using hull for seems like it might bring back the rock paper scissors vibe we are all looking for.

In the current state of WS, almost every meta module is broken in one way or another. Balancing the mode needs a wide array of buffs and debuffs. Direct nerfs, although applicable on a small scale , just make the few modules that are fun, no longer fun anymore or in some cases, completely unusable when drastic enough. Specifically nerfing a single one or two modules will disproportionally disadvantage the teams most reliant. The situation is quite a bit better in BLS but the opinion prevails.
Not to mention, the same module has a massive strategic disparity level-wise. In BLS, it may be an unstoppable force at level 13-15 with the right support, but at say level 7-11, it disproportionally worse just for the range. And at lower level teams, the availability of modules and the interplay alters significantly.
For bls you can rocket wamp they would need to use shield? Or go after with destiny. Not to many options if you try dual laser solitude wamp, that shield still auto actives with vengeance. Maybe remove auto activation as a crippling point but still
If you let a veng/alpha player just chill until the end, having all their mods off cooldown they can wipe the map easily. They are pretty weak most of the game.
They are not weak most of the game. Attacking them for a kill forces you to burn basically all mods leaving you open for attack by someone else. It’s possible to kill them but I can’t kill 3 enemies myself before the end
If you don't go after vengeance alpha first, they sit in circle. You could go for them and tele away but they can tele with you
Some times I get 2 running the same thing so maybe bond tele them onto each other
But most of time they have tele or bond or destiny
I and many people I know here, find it easy to counter vengeance players. Furthermore, I kill 2-3 enemies often, and Im not even playing and practicing. I'd rather play 10 other games than BLS. Maybe your difficulty is regional due to your bracket or anything else relevant.
A trade off that happens after opponents are roasted, is not a trade off

Ive had this idea actually, smth like blitz shield. Make it a quick shield with like 15 second cooldown that shields you for not long enough to survive whatever you want, but be important when necessary to allow you to stay in the game longer
Alpha Shield but better
Maybe like 2s or 20m in ws, then start at 30s cooldown for bls or 5h for ws
You can't just survive being beamed down, but you can block that one big owie

Im thinking that Andy had the right idea before DN. Max alpha should be Lvl5. Boost those stats but remove lvs6-15.
blast and area can mitigate, bond and barrier can prevent it, destiny and impulse can evade it. I've already lost 2-3 or maybe even more battleships to these counters and have successfully used them too.
20 mins is crazy, just because alpha is broken ( which I disagree it is ), we don't have to nerf it and it alone to an unusable level. Just think about what'd happen with chain ray, and how easier it would be to hold a rp10. Not even for vengeance, but for the telealpha combo
Another possibility would be to change alpha shield so you can only activate it if you got more than 2k hull health left - and maybe compensate this with a slightly longer duration. That way veng doesnt need to get changed.
Or, make the veng radius a LOT smaller - same as destiny for example. I never understood anyways why something with the dmg potential of veng should have that huge of an effect area.
Right now, more than half of the players we play ws against just run this alpha shield/veng combo and steamroll every possible defense, as blast shield has been nerfed to uselessness, and the veng radius is too big for any barrier of slightly lower level to hold it off without dying oneself.
Killing one of them takes a huge amount of mods, and then the next one‘s rdy to boom already - thats just not fun and needs a change
Instead of immediately suggesting changes how about we play a few years like this and then reveiw? It's not like the mod act times are random.

i agree with increasing veng timer to 4hrs in ws (just like old times) but not 15s in bls
4 hours would make it unusable
theres many counters, and even with the 2 hours and casual corps, I'm over here finding myself struggling to activate vengeance
If you're talking about high level play, maybe you got beaten recently by a high level team, I also have been with a roster that specialized in pre-activated vengeance bombing with 5-6 battleships, and even their strategy wasn't impenetrable, like, they lost a match
Its also incredibly difficult to coordinate a pre-activated vengeance attack, and even then, two blast shields can cover it or the enemy can move away. I think its sufficient risk reward

Increase spin up time to 15 and that's no longer a problem
Not to mention it'll be easier to bond a veng into blue area bcus less risk same reward
Add impulse and now good luck running alphaveng without tp or bond or dest

Vengeance would only hurt the ships that damaged it..
So they would be forced to chase other bs in order to hit them with it..

But if the threshold to activate veng was upped a bit.. and the auto shield activation was removed, the brainlessness would be gone.. in exchange for an increase in lag/ game delay comments..
I have a few thoughts;
Maybe it should be restricted to one use only in bls(which won't change much in the most cases).
Or with each bls zone collapsed veng's range(down to 50%?) or damage or both will decrease as well to some extent by the end zones, so it will be strong(maybe buffed?) at the beginning and become weaker by the final circle. Maybe it will encourage to change veng gameplay.

Everyone was on board to mega nerf leap when it wasn’t even an issue but suggest that veng or alpha get fixed and everyone cries
I would never suggest to nerf anything. Even if I wanted to I wouldn't. It's a sign of giving up.
In my opinion the dmg output of veng is way too high for the insanely big effect area it has.
It does more dmg than destiny, and its effect area is like 3 times as big. That just doesnt add up.
I liked the idea of it just affecting ships who have been shooting at the veng owner - either that, or reduce the effect area to the size of a destiny. Or just make it that you cannot activate alpha shield at or below the veng threshold.
In terms of „wait 10 years“ - that is something I‘m certainly not going to do. It is not fun to be matched up against corps where more than 50% of the players just run alpha/veng builds and just blow everything up.
It‘s not fun to play again and again against brainless one-trick pony tactics that are very hard to defend against.
So if that doesnt change soon, it‘ll just drive players (including me) away who want to play ws with real strategy instead of repeating the same old trick every game.
Leap was a natural enemy of the veng builds. This is what happens when you nerf mindlessly
And still nerfing alpha shield is now very popular idea(||among the same 5 ppl actually, which are very loud||), ppl never learn 😂
The only reason nerfing leap made this specific difference is teleport's 5 second time is now useful.
Leap can still aim ahead of a player but now teleport can just not be there easily.
Alpha gets to save their shield and thats if they even lose hull afterwards.
And alpha-veng, which prefers to not engage or use it's shield before the final zones didn't benefit from it in a bit?
them being able to save shield is the benefit,
they're still primed for veng.

i am a huge veng alpha player and i support nerfing veng alpha... but not in a way you suggest
why increasing veng spin up timer when we can decrease explosion damage and range? wouldnt that be much easier?
and for alpha shield... i am sticking with my suggestion that drone modules can pierce through alpha shields. people would be more encouraged to upgrade their attack drones (like crt, which is upgraded mainly for ws)

what if, while veng is charging, the ship could not use any mods causing teleportation(or even all combat mods) and couldn't move maybe 💡
The problem is that there is no counter to an alpha veng in bls last stage except bonding it into oblivion
And that's extremely easy to counter with a teleport
So alpha veng teleport just needs to wait it out till last stage and it's auto-win
Well... this could help, but it would require players to have bond always, and doesn't help in dealing with alpha veng outside of last sector 🤷♂️
You're going a bit too far mate. Theres clearly many here that disagree with singling out alpha veng.
To repeat, Vengeance isn't an unavoidable combo that has no counters, at least not at every level, I listed 6 modules. You can maybe agree to disagree there and say its local to the teams you match. Even if its broken, you can't single out with nerfing it directly. Yes, theres many of us who love the combo and maybe we even abuse it. But it would be deadly unfair to just nerf it alone directly, what we could do is modify the way vengeance, alpha and related modules work.
Regardless, it isn't like whatever you suggest gets thrown into the game the second theres more upvotes than downvotes. Theres already 10 good posts here that could get implemented the second the dev decides to get to work. The game isn't even being frequently developed, at least not as rapid as the next 10 games I play. Players like me also want the dev to do things, fix some problems and respond, it probably won't happen ever but idk why you'd rant about others on the forum.
