That or make the area of effect depend on how far it has travelled.

So if you try to snipe a very far away target(say 6 sectors away), you'll be rewarded with an almost sector large blast radius

This can justify delta rocket being paper thin cause your opponents (or random ints) will try to take it down before it becomes a menace

I agree with the suggestion to increase its hp in Red (possibly even Blue) Stars, but the main strength of Delta Rocket is it's ability to change direction and potentially hit an undefended target - if you can achieve this in White Stars then the hull strength becomes irrelevant, so I wouldn't recommend making any changes to Delta Rocket for that mode.

In ws the low hull means if there's a defender, the rocket will not land and kill any civ.
Would you increase the HP to where a single defender can't shoot it down simply with their weapon, and force them to use mods to save their civ?

  • if not buffing it so much and it still dies to virtually any weapon: what's the point of the change?
  • if buffing it to where most weapons can't shoot it down, forcing 2 bs or mods to defend: OP af

If a corp has left a civ alone long enough for the enemy team to delta snipe it, at that point it's the corp's poor management
I think delta rockets shouldn't punish unguarded civs, but rather poorly guarded civs. A small nuance. We can do this by buffing it's aoe instead of hp

Say there's a miner at the centre of a sector and a bs is on top of it. Assuming the aoe is just large enough, we should be able to snipe the miner by hitting a roid at the edge of the sector.
Again it's very easy for the bs to take it down by moving to the edge itself. But now you're forcing the defenders to do something lest they get punished for it.

I don't think Delta Rocket needs to be buffed in White Stars though - there are enough asteroids (and few enough cerberus) around the place to be able to bounce them, and mining asteroids out in order to deny the enemy Delta Rocket waypoints (along with Destinies, normal ship waypoints etc) is a strategically interesting thing in itself that will be removed if you let people fire rockets at any point on the map.

I agree that Delta Rocket needs some sort of buff for Red Stars though, based on the fact that almost no-one uses it in them, and I think increasing its hit points in Red Stars per your original suggestion is a good and simple way of doing this.

I don't quite know what you mean by that, but that's fine, no need for further explanation. We have both expressed our opinions and hopefully some change happens that both of us are happy with as a result

Delta rocket doesn't need more health. It's designed to be a fast but fragile precision weapon. It would benefit more from speed than health.

maybe if there was a single use option to double or halve its speed, considering the waypoint issue
