I am trying to host a server for me and my friend, but I cant join myself, because my router blocks dns loopback. This shouldnt be a problem, because I can set exeptions for the dns-rebind protection in my router, but for this I need the full hostname the game is trying to reach, which I cant find. Does someone of you guys know it? Thanks
#Hostname used for servers

I've never had to fiddle with this, but let's see if we can fix it.
Normally you'd use the loopback adapter trick and I believe that just uses an IP, not a hostname or domain name.
https://www.whatismyip.com/reverse-dns-lookup/ but you can do a reverse dns lookup here if you have your IP
WhatIsMyIP.com®
Performing a reverse DNS lookup allows users to find the hostname of an IP address. Try our free and simple reverse DNS lookup tool today!
I don't think every ISP provides a domain name though.
So there's 3 options:
- Use link, enter that name.
- Execute the command ipconfig /all and look for an entry named "hostname" and use that
- Simply enter your public IP address
Number 2 is very unlikely
If it just used the ip adress, it would work I believe
It probably calls something like servers.raceroom.com/server, which then returns my ip
And servers.raceroom.com is what i would need
I'll try to connect to a server and keep an eye on traffic
Idk if that's true
@carmine fable pretty sure that's wrong.
just find your domain name (the link i sent) and use that
best of luck, if that doesn't work, try the loopback adapter trick
do you have the forum post on how to do it?
