Title. Is this intentional? Can't think of a reason why.

not necessarily intentional, but a side-effect of the mirrors using one rendering view. Because the virtual mirror has a wide aspect ratio, the mirror rendering FOV has to be widened to fit

I assume it's done to save resources then? Not really an issue since I've only just noticed it, but I did think to myself that it would be nice to have it with a normal FOV.

yes, rendering an extra view like the rearview mirror is basically like rendering the game a second time for our engine, so it gets really expensive!

i'd probably prefer just lowering the aspect ratio of the virtual mirror 😄
