not necessarily intentional, but a side-effect of the mirrors using one rendering view. Because the virtual mirror has a wide aspect ratio, the mirror rendering FOV has to be widened to fit
I assume it's done to save resources then? Not really an issue since I've only just noticed it, but I did think to myself that it would be nice to have it with a normal FOV.
yes, rendering an extra view like the rearview mirror is basically like rendering the game a second time for our engine, so it gets really expensive!

Can't believe I only just discovered this 😄
but you can duplicate the mirror picture and cut and resize it to fit the proper FOV of the in-car mirror
