Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

the main ones you'll need are
adorer
aimer
bien aimer (softer)
pas aimer
détester

you can also add modifiers like "vraiment" or "beaucoup" among many examples (note that "adorer" and "détester" are kinda already trying to max out on the feeling, so adding "beaucoup" is weird, you'd rather use "vraiment" with those)

there are of course many other ways (pas être fan, pas avoir d'opinion, etc), but I can't think of another one that's as widely used as those ones.

that's assuming you're talking about things. liking/loving is a bit different when it comes to people

What would you use if you’re talking about a person?

the thing to take note of is that "aimer" is the strongest when talking about people, that's what you use when talking about familiar or romantic love. It's also as its strongest on its own, adding any modifier can only tune it down.
"je t'aime" (confession)
"je t'adore" "je t'aime bien" "je t'aime beaucoup" (friendzone)

The strongest expression is: Je t’aime.

Je t’aime bien = I like you.
Or J’aime bien le football = I like football.

Je t’apprécie = I like you very much.
J’apprécie jouer au foot = I enjoy playing soccer.

Young people might say Je te kiffe , slang for I like you / I love you.
Or even use crush, like in English.

Tu comptes vraiment pour moi = You really matter to me.

Je tiens à toi = I care about you.

Je suis amoureux de toi = I’m in love with you.

J’ai des sentiments pour toi = I have feelings for you.

J’adore passer du temps avec toi = I love hanging out with you.
