Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
"focal" is an adjective
it does agree in gender and number (focal/focale/focaux/focales)
"focale" as a feminine noun also exists
It admitted its mistake but clearly there're some dictionaries that list it as invariable. Interesting.
Thanks for the help, Flynn. 👋
no dictionary will list it as invariable, don't use chatgpt as a source of information
"la zone focal", "les points focal" are incorrect
At the very least I was skeptical about this one. No wonder it turned out to be bollocks. Merci !

ChatGPT and other large AI language models are interesting tools for language learning, but they are fallible. The information they provide can be incorrect while offering seemingly logical justifications to someone who does not fully master the language. They should not be used as an endpoint for information. However, they can help deconstruct a sentence into various concepts that you can then verify, provide contextualized translations, and simulate diverse conversational partners.
I know a bunch about chatgpt, I wrote that snippet
it can be good, and has its uses, but don't trust it
So disappointing...
