Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Plz tag me if you reponse to me so I’ll know
did you get this from a textbook?
you should burn it immediately
those rules for le and la are just tendencies
also every h is mute
it's la leçon, not le
that's your notebook
Look I should read form the textbook ?
From*
yeah leçon is the only odd one out here, except "père" but they didn't mention that one
but like those rules don't work
there's plenty of exceptions
OK
you learn it with the noun
oh thats why its wrong
ChatGPT and other large AI language models are interesting tools for language learning, but they are fallible. The information they provide can be incorrect while offering seemingly logical justifications to someone who does not fully master the language. They should not be used as an endpoint for information. However, they can help deconstruct a sentence into various concepts that you can then verify, provide contextualized translations, and simulate diverse conversational partners.
yeah the truth is you should just add an indefinite articles to nouns in your vocabulary lists
so un or une
bc words that use l' also have a gender
But this is correct ?
and you're gonna need to know that for adjectives
Oh
Alright
there's other tendencies like that
like -ité nouns being feminine
-tion nouns being fem
So YT works or ?
yeah
I mean I have no friends or anything to teach me French in real life
OK
So far, I fix the le leçon into la.
Remove the le and la rules part

Well people also make youtube videos with AI and/or google translate
nvm then
Yikes
I've seen plenty of fully incorrect translations on YouTube
surely big channels are trustworthy
People just want a quick buck
That’s difficult. The only way best to place to learn French is to go Canada or France💀
But I have no money for that
oh thats great if you can make it happen
Depends on how you define big. Some are just churning out AI slop and have a lot of followers because there's a lot of content and they don't know better
OK
Am I missing ?
Like french courses or learning other stuff in french
the rest is fine
but as i said, you should learn about indefinite articles and use those for vocabulary
because you wanna know the gender of nouns that begin with vowels too
Fenêtre, not ferêtre
Oh my bad
Do you know what a mute h is?
H is never pronounced
In general ?
There are 2 kinds of h:
H muet
H aspiré
Neither is pronounced
OK
The names are a bit misleading
H aspiré blocks stuff like liaison because it acts as if there's a consonant there
OK
Usually because it used to be pronounced, either in older versions of the language or if it was taken from another language
H muet is more common though so if you're not sure, assume it's muet
Yah. It’s quite hard because I’m learning French from France and going to Canada will be different
It's mostly the same
Sometimes I don't even notice people are from france for a while when talking to them
But the accent and vocab are different. Quebec is more like slang
Lol
The stuff that differentiates them more is slang. Québécois aren't running around only using slang with everyone they come across
Got it
