Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
ça me semble bien mais ahem je pense que les règles du serveur interdisent de demander de l'aide pour les devoirs
non, c'est autorisé!
il est interdit de faire les devoirs à la place des gens et donner les réponses directement, mais on peut aider
Je confirme ce que dit Flynn.
Faire les devoirs.
Corriger/aider.
@timid heath good work overall, very understandable though some mistakes and unnatural constructions
non-exhaustive list of things to take note of:
- online spaces like websites or servers use the preposition "sur", not "à"
- "nourriture" is uncountable
- for weather, either "le temps est" or "il fait", not "le temps fait"
- "roue" not "rue" for wheel (typo?)
- "je voulais que la grande roue [retourné] au sol". This is a hard construction, good job on attempting it. The conjugation is incorrect though, you can't have a past participle on its own. Ideally, "vouloir que" triggers a subjunctive, if you know what that is
- "to be located" is simply "avoir lieu". "emplacement" means a spot/site/location and doesn't fit the sentence. Also you used present tense; it should be past tense like the rest of your narration
- "se rendre compte" is a pronominal verb. All pronominal verbs use "être" as auxiliary, not avoir!
- "bon" and "bien" aren't interchangeable. To describe something was nice, you'd use "bien" (more info)
- I noticed you used plus-que-parfait with "ils avaient déjà mangé", that's very good! this is used to indicate a past event in a past narration (past of past). There are other spots that could use it in your hw
Thank you! Only question is what is subjunctive?
Also grand rue was attempt at saying Ferris wheel I don’t exactly know and it may be spelled wrong but that’s what I was verbally told it was so may not have written correctly
yup, that would be "grande roue"
subjunctive is a special mood (~= tense) used to indicate subjectivity, uncertainty, desires, etc
subjunctive is virtually limited to triggering after "que", although "que" on its own doesn't trigger it, there are specific conditions, namely the verb before that: https://www.lawlessfrench.com/grammar/subjunctive/
it's a pretty complex topic and while it's very present in everyday speech, it is not key to being understood. While technically incorrect, using present tense instead will get you understood
Il y avait du *soleil (or even 'il faisait soleil').
Ensoleillé.e is the adjective:
C'était ensoleillé/une journée ensoleillée.
reflexive verbs, when the action is done upon yourself mostly
verbs using a reflexive pronoun ("se" in base form)
like "s'appeler", "se souvenir", "s'enfuir"
je __m'__appelle
tu te souviens
il __s'__enfuit
it can indicate an action done to oneself, but isn't limited to that meaning at all
Ohhhhh thank you guys very much! I skipped a level so have not yet learned subjunctive or any future I think so this is helpful
learning how to use it isn't easy, and isn't key to get understood, but as it's extremely common, at least knowing the basics can be nice so you don't get confused when reading stuff
Ok good to know! Merci!
Quelque chose que tu te fais ou je me fais.
The grammatical term "pronominal" means "relating to a pronoun." You know that conjugated verbs (almost) always need a subject pronoun, but pronominal verbs need a reflexive pronoun as well. - Lawless French
