Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
(la) lumière is a noun, it’s the direct equivalent of « (the) light » in english (like the opposite of darkness for instance) whereas clair is an adjective, more akin to « clear », or the opposite of somber, that you can also use for colors for instance, which is when a « light blue » becomes a « bleu clair » in french, thus the confusion
Thank you!!
clair is also an noun, but that's not it's primary meaning
it means something like "lightness"
it's most often used in the colocation "clair de lune"
but can also be used when talking, for instance, about a painting
éclat and lueur both mean glow, gleam or weak light, right?
although éclat has other meanings as well
id say that fits more with "lueur"
