Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Je ne trouve pas le mot “ti” dans aucun dictionnaire, mais je pense qu’il signifie “little”. Pourquoi “ti”?
Je souhaite qu’il existe un urban dictionary français.
petit -> p'tit -> ti
it's really just the same word. p'tit and ti reflect the pronunciation
ti is not very common though
p'tit is
(as spellings)
but even spelled the normal way, it is pronounced without the schwa most of the time
merci beacoup, sounds like p’tit-déjeuner and p’tit fils just as acceptable too
'ti/'tite are very common in Quebec btw
I should've specified European French
« ti » is like saying "lil"
i'm assuming it's always with the apostrophe?
like no one writes just «ptit» (unless it's in an apostrophe-dropping context, like how english people sometimes write "dont" instead of "don't" for some reason)
