Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

That's just how it is. You could say that avant que has a more indefinite feel to it, but ultimately, that's just how it works.

That said, many natives do use the subjunctive following après que. Don't use it on a formal exam, since it's not what the book teaches, but it does occur fairly frequently

The idea is supposed to be that "après que" requires the idea to be true. "Avant que" does not. But ultimately it's just a rule that was made that is seldom followed. Most natives (even some teachers) will think you're making a mistake if you try to use the indicative. But prescriptively, only the indicative is accepted

Natives tend to lean towards subjunctive in cases where there is ambiguity about which to use, and even in some cases where there isn't due to association with similar sentence structures

Après que uses the indicative in the prescriptive standard, with the argument that since it has already happened, there is no uncerainty.

Natural language overwhelmingly uses the subjunctive after après que however.
