Please be patient
Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Well, alimentaire is an adjective (apparently it has a use in industry as a noun, but you're not going to run into that usually)
You're probably thinking of alimentation or aliment ?
Aliment is kind of foodstuff, raw material.
Nourriture is more general, aliment is more individual even though both are translated as food.
- aliment → food/foodstuff; think individual indivisible units: rice, wheat, fish
- nourriture → the most general term for food, can really be anything that you eat; not generally used to talk about a specific thing, but more about having or not having
- alimentation → all of the foods that go into your diet; or, it can also refer to the power delivered into a computer or building (power supply)
- bouffe → like nourriture, but informal
- de quoi manger / bouffer → something to eat (the latter is informal)
- une collation / un goûter / un quatre-heures → a snack
i see, thanks
