Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
B2 EXAM
From 0? B2 in one year is a big ask. I've seen people claim they've managed it, but never seen proof, and I tend to find those claims rather spurious.
If someone did manage it, it's certain that they would need to be incredibly motivated and essentially do a full-time jobs worth of work studying, if not more, every week.
Unless you need a B2 certificate for something (immigration, work, etc.) there's really no reason to take a certification exam. So, while it could be a motivator for some, I wouldn't recommend it.
You most definitely can reach B2 in one year, especially if you're talking about just the exam
Not a herculean task nor is it a walk in the park so you'll have to invest quite a bit of time
Hard disagree
I think it really just depends if you have experience learning languages and if you know a romance language
if French is your first foriegn language, then I'd say it's basically impossible
if you already know Spanish and Italian, then I think it could be done, although it wouldn't be easy
yes I need it for immigration purposes
and also work
thank u everyone for the responses
the thing is english is my second language, Im assuming I can do well if I keep up the hardwork for french
sorry I havent learnt french enough to understand what u said, I used google translate. I'd love to learn to speak together since I struggle with quick speech
also when did u take the b2 exam? I want to prepare for it as well
Well, that was in March 2023. I don't know when I will take it again.
I think you just start to learn the French recently, since you didn't understand what I said in French
oh ok I see, do u remember how u prepared for it? I'd appreciate some tips
yes Im a beginner
I suggest you follow a course, because the pronounciation and grammar of French are difficult for beginners. After that, you can do some exercise of B2 exam.
ohh ok, Im currently just learning from an app
Come on!
I've been living in France for 2 years, and I started to learn with an app as you, but honestly no way… 🫣 — you have to at least take a course. Talk, take tests, practice grammar. Everything around. I go to french lesson 2 times per week, speak with ppl, but still do huge big mistakes. I would say I'm between levels A2 and B1.
I came from the Czech Republic, it should be noted.
oh damn, thank you for your input, Idk about taking french lessons, cuz I already have to spend a lot of money on uni tuition, I was thinking maybe speaking with french people here might help
Actually, it's a good way but also not. French people speak French well but they often cannot remember the word is male or female, for example, l'oil, water, is male. But even French people make mistakes. They don't care about it but the exam does.
