Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
well, it's never just pronounced /l/
/il/ sometimes gets reduced to /i/ in fast speech, however
Ll is pronounced as y when preceded by i (as in bille, maille...)
If it's preceded by any other vowel, it's pronounced just like a single l (as in balle, folle, appelle etc.)
There are exceptions to this that you need to learn: ville, mille, tranquille, and a small handful of others
