Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
I'm just a bit confused as to where your question lies exactly
> vous attendez quelqu'un ?
> je n'attends personne
what exactly are you confused about in this exchange?
I’m confused with questions that use quelqu’un or quelque and how to conjugate those sentences into negative sentences. The vous attendez… was my example
So you want to turn the question themselves negative? Or give negative answers to the questions?
neither the negation nor the object (quelqu'un/personne) changes the way the verb is conjugated
the first sentence is using "attendez" because the subject is "vous" (the person you're talking to)
the second sentence is using "attends" because the subject is "je" (the person talking)
I guess kindq both so like tu vas à la plage? into a negative sentence like te ne vas pas à la plage. Like the responding question
yes, as you can see the negation doesnt change how the verb gets conjugated
tu vas à la plage
tu ne vas pas à la plage
the only difference is that you're adding negative adverbs (ne + pas)
Yes I know that but what I want to know is how to use negative adverbs in sentences like vous voulez boire quelque chose? Or vous attendez quelqu’un?
you add ne before the verb and pas after the verb to make the sentence negative
