Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Additionally, is there a word for “queer” which also encapsulates gender non conforming folks?
Wordreference has "famille choisie", "famille d'élection"
For queer it's just "queer"
if you wish to specify like “I’m a non-conforming person” then you could say “Je m'identifie comme non conforme au genre.” ou “je suis une personne au genre non conforme »
I've never heard that from a queer person personally
Additionally, is there a shortening of transgenre? I heard it’s the same as it is in English but I can’t tell if it sounds awkward to me because it’s wrong or because I’m not used to it
-# sorry to ping whoops I forgot some people might not like that
i’ve never heard it in real life, but there are many podcasts that get advertised to me as YouTube ads and they say shit like that
In french it's fine to say trans as an adjective, it's also fine to say "un(e) trans" as a noun
Alrighty thank you !
