Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Free online tests only go so far, unfortunately
The CEFR self-assessment grid is great IF you can really be honest with yourself about your abilities
It placed me at like B1 iirc and I was like yeah no
yeah, free internet "evaluation" tests and ai tend to be really generous with rating you in order to generate a dopamine hit and keep you invested in them. What I would recommend is filling out the DELF/DALF exam (there are free papers for every level i think) and then correct it for yourself. You can get a pretty accurate picture of your abilities that way. ChatGPT placed me "at the verge" of C1, yet I struggled with B2 level grammar exercises.
I’d never even consider AI for anything, let alone language learning lol
Can you elaborate on DELF/DALF?
as for oral/written production, look up typical themes for your estimated level and see how comfortable you are talking about them.
I will grab a link for the free example papers, but it's basically the most "standard" french language exam out there
