Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
well the present is a tense and the subj is a mood
you mean the indicative present
bc subj in french is usually gonna be subj present
but anyways yes you need the subj after some verbs and there isn't an choice
in what scenarios would you be forced into using the subjunctive then
Everything that triggers it so you have verbs expressing a sort of necessity, order, etc like falloir (Il faut que tu comprennes), vouloir (je veux que tu comprennes); emotional statements like importance (il est important que tu comprennes), sadness (il est triste que tu comprennes), etc

good starting point
The subjunctive is a verb mood used in dependent clauses to indicate some sort of subjectivity, uncertainty, or unreality in the mind of the speaker.
