Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
I hope that made sense
This kind of duplication can happen orally
Indeed, il y a beaucoup de choses => il y en a.
However in casual French, subject/object reduplicaiton is very common. Basically you isolate the element you want to put emphasis on from the rest of the sentence and a comma separates them. You then add the appropriate pronoun to complete said sentence.
So: Des choses + il y a beaucoup => il y en a beaucoup, de choses. (We use de here because beaucoup normally calls for it, especially when the element follows the sentence.)
Also I canโt edit the message anymore but *que
Thank you!
Thanks
So can i just say ยซย il y en a des (blank)ย ยป even if the (blank) wasnโt previously mentioned?
Il y en a, des [insert noun]. Nothing in the sentence justifies using de instead of the usual des. And to answer the question, yes.
Sorry *des
queย ?
I mean the uncountable nouns work too like ยซ Bon, il y en a pas, de l'eau, dans la chambre ยป
