Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
I don’t understand why I’m wrong here
Duo moment
I mean you can't use ils here
But it can be eux or elles
And retourner is fine
Duo moment for explaining nothing
Try Busuu
Basically you need un pronom tonique there
So moi, toi, lui, elle, nous, vous, eux, elles
Bc of the preposition chez
Duo is terrible it explains nothing
"ils" is a subject pronoun
it can only be used as the subject of the sentence, the one doing the action
"eux" is a stressed (tonic) pronoun
the difference is similar to they/them in English
just like you would say "I gave it to them" and not "I gave it to they"
So I can say chez elles but not chez ils
yes, because "elles" works as both subject and stressed pronoun
"ils" only works as subject pronoun, while "eux" is the stressed equivalent
Thanks, Duo didnt explain that at all and just confused me further
duo doesn't explain much to begin with
you often end up knowing sentences but not why they work thus not allowing you to reuse this knowledge in other sentences
Merci pour m’aide (Est-ce correct ?)
as for the other differences
- the choice of "ils" vs "elles" doesn't matter, the information isn't there in English so both are correct translations without more context
- "rentrer" and "retourner" are synonymous
Très utile
