To use any adjective as an adverb

mais «se valoir», c'est pour dire que [ce bâtiment est] la même chose qu'un panoptique, n'est-ce pas? (i.e. «se valoir» === "is the same as") J'ai dû mal lire

donc «ça fait un peu panoptique» is roughly "it's giving panopticon vibes" in english, if I'd want to say that more informally

when I thought wannabe X (where X is some object) I meant "it resembles X but does not really do a good job of having done so"

You can always paraphrase and say something like "qui essaie de ressembler à"

With "qui se veut", I think you still get the idea that it's stuck trying to be something
