Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
The exact meaning or nuance of the adjective changes depending on its placement, and the chart tells you what each placement means.
So placing curieux after the noun makes it mean “indiscret” (intrusive, nosy)
And placing curieux before the noun makes it mean “bizarre” (weird, odd)
Therefore;
- un voisin curieux = a nosy neighbour
- un curieux voisin = an odd neighbour
BAGS/BANGS is only a base for understanding adjective positioning, for the most common ones. There are plenty that don't follow it, and a good handful that change meaning based on position.
Thank you! It seems quite confusing for me that the meaning would change depending on the placement of the adjective, would you say its very few adjectives that follow this pattern where the meaning changes depending on the placement?
That I'm aware of, yes, and sometimes one of the meanings/usages is rare.
Or very contextual
