Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
subject and object repetition is extremely common in French
what often happens is that you use a pronoun for the main sentence, and identify that pronoun in isolation, either before or after the main sentence
ex: Elle est là, Marie ? (you first make the main sentence using "elle", then identify who "elle" is referring to, also works in reverse: "Marie, elle est là ?")
another ex: __c'__est quoi la bonne réponse ? (what's the correct answer?)
while "la bonne réponse est quoi ?" would theorically be correct, it would be extremely unnatural, as not using subject repetition would sound formal, and in formal speech you wouldn't use "quoi" but rather something like inversion
@woeful lagoon
we don't usually say that
we say
"On est lundi"
donc c'est assez proche de l'espagnol finalement
dans la forme si tu vois ce que je veux dire
Don't compare to Spanish bc they usually don't say the subject at all
Alrighty thanks everyone. @bold lichen has provided some good examples for context. 🌼
@gusty barn @dire moat - yes got it. Merci⭐
