Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
aller means to go somewhere
revenir and retourner depends on where you're going
revenir means going to the place where you are right now whereas retourner means going to the place where you're not at
Say it's a Sunday and you've just gone back to a market you frequent a lot
Revenir would mean you going somewhere and then going back to the market since before you were at the market and you went back to the market
Retourner would mean you going somewhere but not going back to the market, maybe some place else like your home or some other place you've once gone into
Rentrer is often used for revenir but mostly for your home, be it your literal home like your house or more abstract like your country or your town you grew up in
Entrer means going into a place
alright thank you
my confusion happened since in a film it said: "C'est impressionnant, quand on rentre dedans, on entend un moustique voler."
Rentrer is technically entrer but reduplicated but I would say that rentrer's more used for that sense of coming home
and they were tlaking about art museum
In daily use though, Francophones tend to use « rentrer » when they mean « entrer »
ahhhh
I wouldn't say always but it does happen
alr i see
they mainly use rentrer yes
You use revenir twice
Ah shit yeah thanks for that
@fickle osprey Second one is retourner not revenir
yeah i thought so
