Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Yes.
Je vais
I am going.
Je vais aller.
I am going to go.
Je vais aller manger le dîner.
I am going to go eat dinner.
I haven't gotten to the grammar section yet, would it be accurate to say aller is an infinitive?
ie. the form "to do ____" what the verb indicates
aller + [another verb] means going to do something
it works just like in English but this is technically a construction
that's why you can use aller twice here
It is, yep!
thank you
it's surprising, i don't remember much from my latin class, but many things are coming in handy learning french
it's been yearssss
Wait est-ce que c'est dîner ou dìner?
dîner
ì doesn't exist in French
It's only î? for i
ï also exists
Currently typing accents by holding down the i key and hitting 3 for î, so I sometimes miss.
é è ê ë
à â
î ï
ô
ù û
and technically the oe thing that I don't have on my keyboard
œ.
I like that one.
Even if it seems to be falling out of favour.
I still use it to write sœur and cœur.
not being on literal French keyboards does not help towards having it stay
I'm on British QWERTY, but I'm doing my best.
Just a lot of codes to remember when it's not my work laptop. 😔
