Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
il faut utiliser un pronom d'objet indirect ici ! "se" n'est jamais utilisé pour parler de quelqu'un d'autre.
on se brosse les dents => impersonnel et réfléchi
je lui brosse les dents => I am brushing his/her teeth
Mais généralement si le pronom d’objectif n’est pas même as the subject, la verbe n’est pas réfléchi?
Ex. I put her to bed = Je lui couche
Or
We put her to bed= On te couche?
Or does a verb being reflexive imply it’s happening to the same subject in the first place? As in it’s no longer reflexive once these two disagree?
reflexive means the object and the subject are the same, yes!
"se" is only reflexive!
Il se parle => he's talking to himself
Il lui parle => he's talking to him/her (someone else)
-# btw when I said "on se brosse les dents" is impersonal, but "on" can be personal or impersonal
Btw this should be « je la couche » and « on la couche » respectively as « coucher » takes a direct object. « lui » is indirect only.
