Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Look at the conjugation of the verb, s'ajoute. It's singular, so it can't be the thorns that are acting. It's a stylistic inversion that you could unpack and translate as "the light is added to some thorns"
Can't turn up any sources for this line, so I'm not sure how to interpret this phrase beyond that tbh
Another thing I forgot to mention is the usage of a reflexive verb instead of the passive voice
La lumière s'ajoute à... -> La lumière est ajoutée à..., roughly speaking
Is "épine" slang maybe for a troublesome person? Or is it just a thorn?
Tough to say without context
never heard of it. Not common in french.
hahaha, looked it up. It's lyrics from a song in the last french version of kpop demon hunter movie... yeah... Let's say it's "licence poétique".
From what I undersand of the movie and this particuliar song, I would say épines refers to their little secrets and personal struggles that they don't share yet in their friendship (the line "on ment on se déçoit" a little after) and light refers to all the good things that make their friendship special (the line "Mais si tu m'appelles je serai toujours là près de toi").
The context that brings it all together 🙏
Please include it when asking these kinds of questions, it really makes a difference
Maybe the ‘à’ could mean that for some people it is negative/hurts, for others it brings light to them?
