Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
soutenu/courant/familier cheat sheet
I've heavily reference Word Reference / Google Translate / ChatGPT / my own dictionary. I'm still struggling a lot with sentence structure but I'm veeeeeery slowly getting there
The middle one with « pourquoi » should have « est-ce que »
For « combien » in the courant/familier, there should be no inversion
qui soutenu should be « qui es-tu », no T
I just noticed "cousines" in familier should be just "cousins"
Oh yeah
où in familier should be « tu vas où »
and quels cousines familier should be « Tu as rencontré quels cousins »
For « combien » in the courant/familier, there should be no inversion
So like...
- Courant: Combien est-ce que un billet d'avion coǔte? (or ... qu'un billet...)
- Familier: Un billet d'avion coǔte combien?
and quels cousines familier should be « Tu as rencontré quels cousins »
Huh... alright so I'm seeing this might have something to do with past participles rules, which is still too advanced for me right now.
est-ce qu'un billet, yeah
Remember, once you already have intonation or est-ce que, you don't need to do inversion
Merci beaucoup! Going to print this
