Ze zijn zelfstandig gebruikte vragend voornaamwoorden. Donc on dit :
Quel voiture aimes-tu ?
Mais c'est :
Tu aimes laquelle ?

Ah, en trouwens, ik weet naar wat voor zinnen je verwijst. Bijv:
C'est une question à laquelle je n'ai pas encore pensé.

Dit wil zeggen: het is een vraag waaraan (aan welke) ik nog niet heb gedacht.

Het gaat om het gebruik van lequel (etc) als betrekkelijk voornaamwoord. Het wordt dan in combinatie met een voorzetsel (à, dans) gebruikt.
Enkele voorbeelden:

La maison dans laquelle nous avons vécu. (Waarin, in welke)
Le stylo avec lequel j'écris. (waarmee, met welke)
Les chaises sur lesquelles nous sommes assis. (Waarop, op welke)

Dus we hebben hier te maken met voornaamwoordelijke bijwoorden (waarover, waarmee, etc) maar in het Frans zijn er gewoon wat extra regels, overeenstemming gender bv.
