#formal, informal, neutral/standard

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
formal, informal, neutral/standard
And I just found standard/neutral is just called "normal" on Lawless French
Je vois, merci
Sorry, just one follow up question. I'm practicing rewriting sentences in formality and this one sounds terrible.
"How much does a plane ticket cost?"
I try to follow the patterns in examples, but my formel and neutre feel wrong.
INFORMEL: Combien coǔte un billet d'avion?
FORMEL: Combien un billet d'avion coǔte?
NEUTRE: Combien est-ce que coǔte un billet d'avion?
You got formel and informel flipped
also the hat is the other way around
coûte
Also, for the neutral you don't need the inversion
Combien coûte un billet d'avion ?
Combien est-ce qu'un billot d'avion coûte ?
Un billet d'avion coûte combien ?
Oh ouais, sujet-verbe pour informel🤦♂️
qu'un
Is this a contraction of "que un" or just a typo?
Un billet d'avion coûte combien ?
I assume this is informal. Is there a rule on when I put the question word last?
ie. "Où tu vas", "Comment tu vas" are also informal but the question word comes first. Are "Tu vas où" and "Tu vas comment" just as valid for informal?
Is this a contraction of "que un" or just a typo?
Contraction
I assume this is informal. Is there a rule on when I put the question word last?
In general you can put the question word at the end or start but we prefer the end
Prefer because three question words don't work as well when you have them at the start with intonation
Merci beaucoup!
The contraction thing is mandatory and works like any other
Est-ce qu'elle reviendra tôt ?
Quand est-ce qu'on va la voir ?
Pourquoi est-ce qu'Émilie a décidé d'y aller ?
