Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
yeah re- meaning again isn't always true
in the case of rechercher it's never true
i'm not sure what the difference is
i just looked it up and it seems to basically be that rechercher is about a more thorough search
like scientific research
can they be used interchangeably
La différence est tellement légère que même les natives ne la connaise pas vraiment on utilise les deux peux importe le contexte ou le sens

The difference is so slight that even the natives don't really know it, we use both, no matter the context or the meaning
Ah d’acc merci beaucoup x
https://fr.wiktionary.org/wiki/rechercher shows that there are different connotations or meanings based on context. However, the first definition (chercher avec soin) is one that uses the prefix re- as a sort of intensifier, not one indicating repetition (definition 4: chercher de nouveau). Something similar: if you have ever heard of the dish "refried beans" (coming from Spanish which also can use re- as an intensifier), they are not beans that are fried again but more akin to "fried well". You can also just check meanings of re- in French on https://fr.wiktionary.org/wiki/re-#fr
